Hey y'all! happy weekend! We've been out. Now I'm having a coffee break between cleaning chores as we are having company tonight. And company tomorrow night also. Tomorrows cookout, hotdogs and hamburgers. Tonight sis in law is bringing venison that has been pounded and then wrapped around cream cheese and jalepenos.

Ummm...sorry, I have, ummm, other things that I need to do. Like watch paint dry and get a hole in my head!!!

Advantage ONE of living on a cold Island: No 108* weather!
Advantage TWO of living on a cold Island: No snakes!
Advantage THREE of living on a cold Island: No scorpions!

And I can mention so many other things...like NO CROCS (expect for those some people wear on their feet.)

Well, me and my little family are off to Brent's brothers house for a BBQ. There should be lots of kids there, so mine will have fun! Talk to you all later!

seriously, how do you SURVIVE? I can't imagine even being able to breathe when it's that "warm"

I mean, it's not like you can put a scarf over your mouth and slowly breathe in the frigid air like we do when it gets to really really cold temperatures here....

my home is starting to fill with.... young adults DD2 invited a whole bunch of her friends for an end of summer reunion/BBQ It will be loud but so much fun here today
They are actually heading over to the lake in a little bit during which time I will run over to the church to get the monthly newsletter printed.. and hopefully be able to think clearly enough to figure out how to declutter the prep room

burgers are prepped; DD1 will prep burger toppings while I'm out; I did manage to get GF buns made last night (they didn't turn out great but they'll work); watermelon & ice cream treats for dessert.... it'll be loads of fun!!!

When you live in the rural area, snakes are pretty much a "come with the territory" & are hard to get rid of unless you want to lay down some pretty harsh chemicals, etc.

I haven't heard/read anything about dawn/vinegar combo keeping snakes away. As long as there are mice in your area, you are going to have snakes. Without those snakes, you don't know how many mice you'd have! An outside cat would keep the mice & snakes down, but I don't know of a frugal, non toxic way to keep them away.
What she said.

Thankfully no snakes have been inside the house...inside the garage yes...but so far none in the house...

Last night I had nightmares about snakes...
It could very well be the weather. Last year, it was so hot & dry, we had those piss ants...I forget what they are really called...sugar ants...they were EVERYWHERE! You could not get rid of them. Everyone had them, too.

Actually snakes are attracted to rocks! They like the heat they keep at night. The best deterent is no attraction, keep around your house cut way done, mulch and minimal shrubs are best. If you burn wood do not keep the pile near the house.

It isn't AP Day but I finally finished my neighbor's birthday present from MAY...yep...May 10th...UHM...how could I be so long? Well...it isn't the best sewing I've ever done but...no one is buying it from me so I used what I had...and goterdun!

Now...Red Bear wants some apple crisp...so I'll make it...then...I need to figure out what I need to make for tomorrow's pot blessing...uhm...travel time is 90 minutes...what can I make that will stay hot?

Nothing...

SO...I'll take meat, cheese, crackers...some apples...to slice...

Sounds good to me and that is it for tonight, I am tired and getting ready for bed now. Have enjoyed reading my shading book and now I have it for a reference but too tired to think about it tonight. Good night to you and have a good day tomorrow. mr. GILBERT thinks he feels able to go to our small fellowship meeting tomorrow but we shall see what the morning brings
