Question...might be a bit early for such thinking but...I wonder...

Has anyone ever sent a thank you note to a person that had a direct influence in your life years ago but is someone you have had no further contact with?

Something I'm pondering...

Good morning y'all!

Happy Anniversary Joyce! Have a fabulouse blessed day!

Zack made it through the night with no problems. I woke up often listening for him.

Not sure what today holds. I need to get my car tags renewed by the end of the month so I think I'll head out and do that. I also need to stop by post office.

Dogs fed. Dishwasher running as I forgot last night.

Our wedding. Oh my. Let's see what I can remember. I wore long sleeves in June in Texas with an outdoor reception at my folks home. Thank heavens we had lots of big shade trees. What was I thinking? the buffet was barbq but that is what my folks chose and could afford. dh wore dress white airforce uniform. My bridesmaids wore what I now consider hideous dresses, but they were cheap which is what the girls could afford. My mom made the groomsmans cake. A friend of the family made the wedding cake. It was lovely. Our ceremony was very special though the pastor chose it and friends of ours ask if they could copy it for their wedding.

I remember many years later watching father of the bride with my mom and saying how my wedding was so cheap (meaning reasonable) and mom informed me that it was quite expensive to them. I didn't realize. When our sons got married I didnt care about tradition we offered to pay half of the wedding. It's just to hard on families. I didn't dictate anything, just paid. I know the families appreciated it. Both the kiddos were lovely!

Our wedding was awful, horrible, should have eloped... thankfully, the marriage part has been MUCH better!

Oh Tricia! Y'all need a 30th anniversary do-over! That is just terrible. But more than anything emphasizes how your wedding is just one day, one event (a BIG one, but still just one), and that the marriage is the thing that REALLY counts. Seriously though. For your 30th. Try that event again!

ps: There was a big gaping hole on the grooms cake because we ran out of frosting. I stole flowers from a table arrangement and covered it up kinda. And I was 20 minutes late because one of the bridesmaid's hem fell out (not the dress I made!), my 3 year old sister threw a fit because she wanted a bouquet like the big girls and not a basket, and then the car wouldn't start. Just so you don't feel like everyone else's weddings were perfect. Hugs!!!

Ours wasn't without hiccups...some funny ones...and a few difficult ones...I didn't realize how difficult of a day it was for my step-dad who was no longer married to my mother...I admire him for walking me down the aisle...and thus Kub carries his name...I was kind to my mother and spelled it with a K...my mom more often spelled with a C...but then...

in the last year of her life she called her current husband by my step-dad's name and that always made me chuckle!!!!

DH doesn't want to exchange vows again, but for our 25th anniversary we went to Branson and stayed in a little cabin and had a marvelous time. I consider that my honeymoon!!

I'm having a sappy day...

I was destined to enjoy my day despite others showing up in blue jeans and leaving when we were just getting to the reception because the beer tap froze up or something and the bar maid wasn't fixing it fast enough.....last time I saw those folks anyway (his crazy side).

So I was just writing my husbands anniversary card ( which I made for DTGD) and got teary eyed. Jeesh!

My husband doesn't want to exchange vows again either. I would like to write my own if we do ever don't again.

Me and my boy needs some dinner. My big boy is gone to a friends house and my biggest boy is getting ready for work...so its just me and the little.

I don't know what we will have yet...but it will include cherry tomatoes because we have a bunch that we picked from the plants yesterday...and I want to gobble them up while they are still VERY fresh.

Dinner is done and eaten! We had fried potatoes (from the leftover boiled potatoes) and cherry tomatoes on the side. It was delicious!

DITTO!!!! I tell hubby the ONLY good thing about our wedding day is that he took me home with him and away from my family!!! I tell people that the marriage is WAY more important than the wedding and not to put so much importance into the wedding! My Prince Charming rescued me and he is still my Prince Charming to this day!!!!

Knock on wood... no... We used the blender quite often growing up & we didn't ever have that happen & haven't had that happen in my home either.

LuvLee...I just had to...

scraperwannabe...uhm...I can tell you what happens when you don't put the lid on tight enough! Experience happened TODAY with tomatoes! Pink Snuggles helped me clean the floor...but the counter, fridge and myself was all mine to clean...and no...I did not scream...I almost laughed because as I filled the blender I said to self...I wonder if I should dump some of this out...I think the answer should have been YES...and put the lid on TIGHT...

I did a little bit of research on this person...UHM...folks...she is the CEO of a bank! UHM...really...

I have addressed the back of the card (planning to send it in a clear envelope as it otherwise would need extra postage because of the rhinestones)...still need to decide how to word the inside of the card...I don't want to sound like a dork...or a woman who is sitting here with tomato splatter all over their shirt...which I am...I really do need to go change...but...

I really like this Winnie the Pooh & Piglet hugging t-shirt and well...I just don't want to go put on something else!

Okay...now you have more of my thoughts...and so does the entire internet!

Just speak from your heart and tell her what you've wanted to say. Be yourself...you won't sound like a dork.

it's not Friday yet. It's Thursday, August 29, 2013.

however, it feels like friday to me somehow and up til this moment i thought it was. lots of labor day traffic going by on the highway that we can hear and lots and lots of cycles going to the Milwaukee 110th anniversary for Harley Davidson.

maybe that's why. but wait, tomorrow is friday and DH has his first real exercise rehab starting. yesterday was just orientation.

[QUOTE=ashjoy;20314724]Yup, I to had to plan my wedding before Pinterest. Really didnt have a theme, wedding was the theme. Balloons and candles decorated the tables. I made the candle holders. Napkins were printed. Matches were printed for by each candle holder. Sit down family style dinner. DJ, because in our area bands just don't happen. And we paid for everything ourselves with the exception of my dress ( which was 500$) off the rack kind if purchase. And his dad gave some money towards the bar bill. The amout of monetary gifts did not cover the cost of the wedding. And people showed up in blue jeans. To this day am not happy about that.

But then last week at my uncles funeral people showed in shorts and sandles. Was less then thrilled with that as well.

But, we managed 23 years as if today. Learning and growing. Built our first home 10 years married and our second 16 years married. With hopes of building one more, one story that will be where we grow old comfortably.

We have been very blessed. Never been bailed out by anyone, pay our bills on time, use credit cards minimally, pay for things with cash or make do with what we have. Never go to bed mad, never walk away when we are mad, and always kiss good night, we don't yell or scream, sometimes disagree and respect that and if not together are the last ones to talk to before sleeping.

sounds like a good plan that made me smile and sounds like us and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to you.

Has anyone ever sent a thank you note to a person that had a direct influence in your life years ago but is someone you have had no further contact with?

Something I'm pondering...
yes, i specifically told them why they were important and how they had influenced my life even to this day. i have sent a few of them out over the years.

ps: There was a big gaping hole on the grooms cake because we ran out of frosting. Hugs!!!
this is what i told our kids when they were in wedding planning stages. Sarah's hubby wanted a big to do and Troy and Kirstin eloped. The big to-do was not so big, it was simple and b/c both familes were large with aunties and uncles we only invited families and very best friends. it was sweet and i was glad they did what they did and we paid and his mom and sis made all the table decorations b/c that is simply not my forte at all. sarah helped them with swags etc made from tulle. it was in the winter and they rented a stone building with a HUGE fireplace in the park. We had Fazolis cater italian and a small little mexican place made enchiladas and beans and rice and we combined the two cultures coming together and EVERYONE hoorayed loudly when DH announced the meal. It was fun

it's been fun to read of everyone's day and i have enjoyed this afternoons memories. thanks to all.
