Talking August Challenge for Flybabies

Oops! Title should read 'August Challenge for Flybabies'

Since I said I'd take Aug and Dec I'd better let everyone know what's in my itty bitty head for Aug theme. LOL

I was thinking of August Nights as the theme for August. Now don't ask me what that looks like because I'm not real sure, but it sounds good don't you think.

So if you thought Spring Snow and Scraps was a tough theme, lets see what you do with August Nights.
The challenge is on girls. Hehehehe

You could ask a moderator to change the title for you if you can't change it yourself...

August nights...well...normally ours would be hot and humid...tonight was not...it was chilly...

Maybe I'll be making a winter card!

Misti, 91 degrees in the evening, I can feel your pain because in NV we have nights that are hotter than that sometimes. However, we will no longer have to suffer through those hot nights and even hotter days since we purchased a cabin up in the UT mountains.
We are loving the nice cooler days and evenings now and we do a lot more thins outside during the summer.
The only problem this makes for me is that I think it's going to be a little tougher for me to come up with a card reflecting 'August Nights'. LOL
Oh well, I'll have to try to remember what it's like to sweat it out in NV on a August Night. LOL

How is everyone else doing with this theme?

I have a train of thought, but no card idea yet. Need to get on that. It's about to get crazy here!

Been some chilly August nights.

But ya know what...it reminds me of fall back in the late 70's early 80's...when back to school was actually wearing fall clothing. Not summer duds.

We had just started being able to wear pants for girls...and never when I went to school could we wear shorts or a t-shirt!

Long hair on guys became acceptable but I remember my brothers getting detention for the length of their hair...my mom was glad when she didn't have to pay for a hair cut...wonder why didn't invest in a trimmer and do it herself...my boys wore buzz cuts A LOT...cause I could do that!

I am struggling too with the mojo it seems to have drifted off....maybe with the onset of the dizzies....I just feel blah and everything seems like so much effort. How are your dizzies?

I think I know what I will do for the challenge...I just need to sit down and do it but I don't feel like doing anything.

I did a search on 'Hot August Nights' and came up with a lot of Car Shows all over the place. So I guess a CAR card would work.
Since we have been having nothing but cold weather, lightening, thunder and a lot of rain, I could go with that, but I too am having a little bit of a creative block. But I am not going to let that stop me. I have all my stamp sets out in front of me in hopes that I get inspired for an August Nights card.
Hope you are all having better luck than I am.
Have a great day!

Here are a few more thoughts for an August Nights card.
In some places, school starts so kids are usually pretty excited about going school shopping or riding a bike to school.
Also, it's pre-season for football. We went to our grandson's scrimmage football games last weekend.
In some areas, it is hotter than hot, so we usually want to eat cold foods and snacks like salads and ice cream.
Well, I hope that helps generate some creative thoughts for you.
Happy Stamping!

I was thinking of this thread earlier today...still thinking on a card...I haven't made as many cards this month as last month...but I did find some card layout ideas on Pinterest so will see if I can get something started...sooner than later...since today is the 27th...and Saturday is the end of the month! WOW...how time flies when summer finally arrives...

I'll share my train of thought for this challenge, which didn't really feature in the one card I made so far.
August Nights = Summer Nights = Grease = 50s
August Nights = Summer Nights = Grease = Musical Theater
August Nights = Late Nights = Sunsets/Fireflies/Relaxing at the End of the Day
August Nights = Nights Outside = Stars/Stargazing/Camping

thanks mrslaird for those ideas...something finally popped into my head...

I have the dp chosen, the colors chosen, and the image has been stamped...now for the layout so that it all comes together...and I know just who is going to receive the card also...

That is what helps the most in the flow of making cards!

These are things we do in the fall or the early spring. It's hot and humid in the summer! Plus, there are giant mosquitoes.

We just had our Heartland Festival, complete a concert in the evening. Our State Fair is in August as well.

Friday night (high school) football and band competitions - but probably only one.

I don't think Houston has a Fair? Beaumont has the Southeast Texas State Fair, which used to be in October, but after Hurricanes Rita and Ike they moved it to March or April. And there is the Texas State Fair in Dallas, I think?, but I don't know when that is.
We have the Rodeo in Feb/March, the Renaissance Festival weekends in Oct/Nov, Bayou City Arts Festival in May and October, and I think the International Festival is either spring or fall as well.
Don't get me wrong, there are outdoor events all summer, but I don't know anyone who goes to them!

The TX State Fair is in Dallas, Sept. 27-Oct. 20. The Red River Rivalry always falls during the TX State Fair. A good # of people from here go down for the game & spend some time at the Fair.

Here is my August card...I noticed after I was finished that the wording doesn't show up...but...I guess since it's camouflage it's okay to not show well!!!!

The wording says...Thinking of you and smiling.

Here is mine! I am not blogging it. I have had one of those weeks. You know the ones, where no matter what you do nothing turns out? I even took a complete day without any stamping but it didn't seem to help.

So last night I decided that Steve needed a card. He has been sick for about two weeks but still goes into work. This card is just what he likes 1) The only place he would like to be in Aug/Sept is out in the woods 2) SIMPLE he doesn't like a lot of frou frou (as he calls it.) It doesn't get any simpler than printed designer paper.

All I added was the sentiment with white embossing powder.

Outside and Inside (nope, the inside didn't turn out the way I had in my mind)

bloggin-friends_4911.jpg blogging-inside4920.jpg

Happy last day of the month everyone!

Thanks for the fun challenge Bea!

Wink August Flybaby Challenge

Sorry I'm late with my posting, but I've got a lot going on.

I made a few cards because with being between NV and UT I'm either sweating or freezing.
Right now I'm in NV because we went to a Journey concert in Las Vegas but we are suppose to head back up the UT mountain tonight so I'll need to put on a few layers of clothing. LOL

The first card I made was for NV because the weeds are all around and so are the butterflies.
The next two cards I made in UT but the also reflect either the beach or the country side.
In any case, I hope you like them. Come by my blog to see more images.

Happy last day of the month everyone!

Thanks for the fun challenge Bea!

Wouldn't be me because I can't even name a stamping magazine title! I do have a couple in a dresser drawer in my bedroom that the library was getting rid of so the librarian gave them to me!

Actually the other day when I was looking at one I found some interesting cards I wanted to CASE.
