Okay, well, I may be completely crazy, but I am going to try this technique with the boys. I think the real problem will be keeping Amelia from getting into everything and making a ginormous mess while we're working on it.

Okay, well that was fun. For a little while. Archer liked it but wanted to use about 8 colors per paper. Ezra lasted through about 2 sets of ink drops on one paper then decided he'd rather stamp Mickey Mouse all over the newspaper on the table and, of course, his arms. Amelia yelled frequently for things so I gave her straws and watercolors and she just kind of pawed things.

Mine were interesting, but I'm not getting the smooth look that the videos had. I thought -and this is kind of gross- that I was getting little spit drips even though I was being really careful, but on my last one I used canned air and still got the little dots, so maybe it's because my glossy cardstock is at least 8 years old. I'll try to make some cards with them when they're dry.

It was fun to just play with ink, though! Been a while since we newspapered the whole table and got messy on purpose.

Do you think you could get a similar look using distressed inks on glossy paper? Sure would be easier in my opinion!

Did you notice she gave the dimensions of the cardstock? She must have known I would be asking!!!!

Lol! No I didn't see that. I stopped watching after the technique part.

Do you mean sponging the Distress Inks? I'm not sure. I think the closest look (that I know of, I'm not a technique expert by a long shot!) is polished stone. I'll take a picture of them all and post it on stamping chatter in a little while.

No, distressed inks does not work on glossy paper!

I also got "spit" marks on my glossy paper that is probably older than mrslaird's! Can they really be spit marks? I tried a shorter straw and it didn't help reduce the marks!

I got them even with the canned air so it can't be spit. I think it's just the old paper. Mine is most likely 10 years old?

Lol, I don't even own glossy paper. Is it the same as photo paper?

So the little one here today ran the sweeper for about an hour! Then slept for 2. She is pretty easy to entertain. And is a good eater. I even had an hour in the studio. Hoping the rest of the week s as easy.

The sun came out this afternoon and almost all the 4" of snow is gone on most of our property!

Suppose to get to 70 by the weekend...which I will spend indoors on Saturday while Pink Snuggles has a harp seminar to attend...maybe I'll go find a park to sit at rather than indoors waiting all day...

Today is just a messy day, lol! All kinds of messes to clean up. Really haven't done any "normal" cleaning or decluttering.

I'm going to spend 10 min in my bedroom, 10 min in the living room, and 10 min in the entrance. At least it will look like I did something.

I figured you lived inside not outside AND that you have heat. I do not like it cold OUTSIDE for very long even with warm clothes on. I agree it is pretty but I just DO NOT like cold weather.

From what I read, photo paper doesn't work as well as glossy for this technique.

And that's awesome she's being so good!

Hump Day Happiness...

PTI order is in at H.S.momoffive...might make a 9-mile journey there...then continue into the metro and go to Michael's...

cards & envelopes are 40% off...and so is their brand of Washi tape...both items I would use for the Back to the Basics Card Class...

Peach Pie

Does anyone have a good tried and true peach pie recipe? I would like to make one this morning...as in...I'm taking the peaches out of the freezer as soon as I hit send...in hopes that by 10 AM I can have a pie in the oven!

I've only ever made peach pie with fresh peaches, but I use the peach jello method. It's quick and easy but everybody loves it. You could try it with thawed peaches.

1 pkg. (3 oz.) peach Jello
1 1/2 c. hot water
1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. cornstarch
Sliced peaches
Baked pie shell
Whipped cream
Cook Jello, water, sugar and cornstarch together. Cool slightly. Pour over sliced peaches in a baked pie shell. Serve with whipped cream.

I would drain the peaches as they thaw and use that liquid in place of the water.

If you try it, let me know how it works, would love some peach pie.

Woohoo! What did you get?
I still have a set from my last order not inked - I need to get on that!

Washi tape sale would be dangerous for me! Have fun shopping!

Patricia, I knew you would do great!

Jane, hope you had a little sunshine. I've thought about one of those lights for winter, I really do get cabin fever! I make myself go out 15 minutes even if its just to get the mail. Even if its over cast you still get some rays. I also get my vitamin D checked. Mine is good but my dh has had to take vitamin D quite a bit.

We were up early this morning. Had breakfast dressed, got everyone off to work, checked the garden. Having tea and checking in

Today
Floors
Load and run dishwasher
Dust stair case
Refrigerator. I know I could get away with just wiping down a few spots but I think things just need a good going over. It seems to be stuffed full and I don't know what's in there.
Continue working on swap projects.

Ashjoy...the peaches I have frozen are ones that I froze from fresh peaches during harvest season last year...I also have "canned" ones from the same harvest so they have no syrup or anything on them...

Of course I have no peach jello...but...the store is only 4 miles away...maybe I can talk myself into driving there if someone else doesn't pitch in a recipe idea!

Mostly PTI is white cardstock...but I did like these sets (H.S.momoffive has 2 of them so I didn't have to buy #6 or #7) (We order together to save postage since she is on my way to almost everywhere north!)

Today's Mini Mission:

Let's see if we can find 3 things from the master bedroom to donate/toss. Can you find 3 more?

krapoppa put a light in the stamp room that shines over the table (it's not an "official" one of those lights...but it is from his gardening supplies for the "grow lights"! Compact florescent, full-spectrum light bulb...quite unappealing contraption but seems to work...

How about a cobbler?

Your peaches - add sugar if you need them to be sweeter
1 cup self-rising flour
1 cup milk
1 stick butter
1 cup sugar

melt butter in baking dish. I ususally do it in the over while it pre-heats at 450. Mix flour, milk & sugar together until smooth (can be lightly lumpy). Once butter is melted pour the batter in the dish then add the peaches on top. Bake for about 45 minutes until dough is done.

It sounds weird to put it the way you do but the batter cooks up around the peaches. We enjoy it as it is or with a scoop of ice cream.

I have my grandmother's recipes and she made a much beloved peach cobbler, but not peach pie that I can recall.

Well good for me I got 3 things out last night before I went to bed. Today will be another long day so I'll try to look for more tonight - maybe. I will be leaving in an hour or so and won't be home, to speak of, until after 9 pm.

At 92 years old - he has earned the right to ask for pie over cobbler.

Sorry I couldn't help. As another thought, do you have an apple pie recipe? You might could use that as a base. I might leave out the cinnamon out but it might work. JAT

My today is going to be a busy one.

I have
classes at 12:30 - 3:30 and 5:30 - 8:30 - 2 totally different classes
hopefully pick up dh's truck between the two
go by the home improvement store and pick up landscape fabric spikes
take a purse by the shop to have a handle re-stitched
take some mail to the PO

I know that doesn't sound like much but it's plenty to do along with teaching those classes and having a hubby who is still asleep after working 12 hours last night.

I did not get finished with yesterday's list so I'll add those to my list of unfinished but moved forward items

1.work on bedroom hot spot
2.work in bedroom closet
3.wash last load of clothes
4.mend a pair of shoes (they have a button on them that has come lose - it is for decoration only)
5.get ready for classes Friday afternoon and Monday afternoon & night
6.get rid of 3 more things from the bedroom
