Hi everyone! I'm so glad H.L. is not closing. I love shopping there when I am in Texas. The Archivers there was quite a drive away, and expensive. If you were looking for something special that is higher end, they were o.k. though.
I've been knitting and crocheting since I was in grade 4. But of later years I seem to drift towards crochet, as I can make lots of small things....goes faster. I make snowflake, and angels every winter. And this Christmas I also did quite a bit of sewing.
Now, I am taking acrylic painting classes with an artistic lady who used to go to our church. This week we worked on a mountain scene. It's not quite finished, but I will post a photo.
As far as cards go. I host the 'Stamp 2 Spend' S2S14 Challenges every Monday, and I am trying to learn mixed media.

Doing your best is all we can ask! I'm not super talented either, but I've had the blessing of encouragement and instruction from a wonderful artist. It's something I am interested in and I find the more I practise, the more I learn.

Morning everyone, hope the weather isn't too bad for you all, we seem to be having very hot weather for the time of year, 22c today, we didn't get our walk, the alarm man came to put a sensor in the conservatory and steve has finally caught my germs, he's feeling pretty ropey so we've had a day at home, we took he last of the logs from the woodshed ready for a new delivery next week and I managed to finished our sons 40th card, it's all packed up and ready to post. I had to make a special envie, 15x6 ins long! Dread to think how much the postage will be.

Hola Dea, todo es bueno, gracias, he estado haciendo una tarjeta de cumpleanos para mi hijo, excuse any mistakes in my grammar but I'm far from fluent even after all these years.

It's bitterly cold today and will be going down into the minus 20's here tonight with dangerous wind chills. I don't remember any winter as bitterly cold as this one. My SU demo is having an Open House tomorrow and time will tell if I go or not. I am grateful that I'm not scheduled to work again until Thursday. Hopefully it will be warmer then like above zero?

Just looked at your painting Ina! it's beautiful! I've always wanted to paint, our dutch friend Henny tried to teach me but I try to put too much detail in, I was totally useless.
I've been buying acrylic paints to use with my gelli plate, I've now got sidetracked by stencils and embossing paste, I love it!

Its windy here. Not freezing yet but that is to change later. I don't have to go anywhere today, but I have Dr. Apppts. Tomorrow and Wednesday morning and probably a funeral in there somewhere too. I'm waiting to hear from my friend. Shes been staying at her sons since her DH passed.

I just got home from going out to lunch at our favourite Indian (the only one in town) restaurant. I wondered why my friend asked me if it was still o.k. for me to come. I found out! Total whiteouts on 4 different places in my 5 mile drive. I drove home an alternate route and it was much better. A few minutes ago, the snow was coming down so hard I could hardly see across the street. Now the sun is shining! Crazy weather!

I'm so glad the pain is improved Lynn. Now if it will only continue to do so! Keep warm today! It's so cold, we are actually not walking outside today. I will walk at the gym, if there are any treadmills available and Catherine will give it a pass. After all, the windchill is -32C. degrees (that's -25 in American!)

Oh Ina, -32c! How do you cope, I suppose your houses are super insulated to keep the heat in. The trouble in England is that one bad snowfall stops everything whereas in countries where winters are very cold and have heavy snow they prepare for it.

Yes, our houses are well insulated and heated, although I keep my thermostats at 62 F degrees, which is only 17 C. so I wear sweaters all the time and have a nice cosy fleece lap blanket for my chair time. However, this polar vortex (as they are calling it this year) has reached all the way into Texas and Louisiana and they are possibly getting snow today and cold temperatures too. They don't have any equipment to deal with it, so they close roads and everyone stays home.

Here in VA where I live (Newport News) we are getting 5 - 8 inches of snow this afternoon thru tonight & possibly tomorrow AM. The temps are in the low 20s (Farenheit) and the wind chills are in the low teens. You're colder up north, but some people here don't know how to handle this weather. That can be funny to watch how some people panic... I've seen parents getting children from school as soon as we get 1/2" of snow!
I'm sure schools will be closed tomorrow - they're letting out early today. I'll try to get things done so I can get to the Post Office before we get snow here as people panic & drive erratically.

Hope everyone stays safe & warm!!!

Its cold here. I have 5 but mom, who lives just a stones throw from me has 17. Her thermometer must be in the sun. It is to be cold today and tomorrow and then warm up! If you call 25-35 warm! But I will gladly take it and will never complain about the heat again.

Dr.says my mouth looks good, other than drainage in back so I came home with sinus rinse kit and nasal spray to try for three weeks. If no improvement, then time for sinus CT scan.

JCI from the very cold Midwest! When I got up this morning it was 10 below without the wind chill factor! We haven't had a winter like this in a very long time.

Kathy, hope the sinus meds work for you.

Hope everyone is staying warm...even those in Florida!

Hi all, how is everyone, didn't sound like you had a good day planned yesterday Kathy, hope your friend coped ok. And your docs app was too.
We found out yesterday that a friend from football died suddenly, his wife drove him to the hospital and he died whilst waiting to be seen. We are in total shock, they went to Australia for two months at the end of last year to have a last visit with elderly relatives, I think the funeral is on Monday.
We have just had a ton of logs delivered and stacked them in the wood shed, steve is done in so I've poured him a cold beer while he puts his feet up, we waited in all morning for the delivery, two and a half hours late, my pet hate with the Spanish people, they never, ever arrive on time for anything, needless to say we didn't get our walk, we will tomorrow, round ikea! I need one more drawer unit for my craft room, steve can't wait!!!!!!!

Jan, it's not only in Spain that this happens. Here in Canada, a service will tell you they will come sometime in the morning and arrive at 2 p.m. or let you know they will be there after lunch and they will arrive at 5:15, which in both cases means you wait around for at least 4 hours.
Sorry to hear of the sudden death of your friend. These kinds of things happen when you least expect them and often in people who seem really healthy.

And here's me thinking it was only the Spanish Ina, we have a saying here, tiempo espanol or tiempo englais, our friend, the president of our local football club has learnt that when steve asks what time to meet that he expects punctuality, (steve was in the army for ten years and a police officer for 22) Jose now only invites the three English to the exec meetings as steve told him it wasn't acceptable for people to arrive two hours late for a meeting.

I'm an early bird. My dad always said that if we can't be on time, we went going at all! Because my nephew was always late for family holiday meals, we started telling him. That we were eating a half hour earlier than we were actually planning to eat so he would be on time!

We did this with my brothers ex but we would lie by three hours. I am not kidding we would tell her we were having a late lunch. Come for two and the b*^%}<>> would show between five and six. When we td her five she would arrive at eight or nine. Did not matter what the occasion and then god forbid you should start without the highness

I'm late to these challenges and threads.......not with you from the start. I need people's birthdays and addresses! Please just p.m. me. I'd love to bless you with a card. I know birthdays come and go and that some of us would sooner forget them, but it is wonderful to receive a bd card. I know all my nephews and nieces enjoy it.

I've just had to have reading glasses, how I hate them, I forget I have them on and get up and wonder why I cant see where I'm going, the thing is having an iPad and being able to stretch the writing I put off getting glasses, now I try to stretch pages on magazines when I'm reading them.

Sorry about your eyes Lynn. I'm a nurse, but I didn't know that arthritis could affect eyes. Is there anything that can be done about it?
