Good morning, Stamping friends!

How was your weekend? I had a blast at VSN on Sat. night. The grandtoddler cooperated by going to bed at 7 and I accomplished 4 of the 6 cards. The remaining 2 left undone only because I didn't want to disturb her to go back down into the dungeon for supplies and risk waking her up. It really helped my signature line as you can see.

I really needed the stamping time I spent last week. It felt good to get ink on my fingers and play with colors again. But this week I must return to the land of fiction and get back to finishing this manuscript. My creativity Saturdays will have to suffice for now.

Remember the challenges and use the stash. I've already come up with Friday's challenge post. It will help your bank balance a bunch!

Hi Everyone! I am doing much better on my spending so far this year. It is probably due to the fact that I don't have time to shop! LOL!!!

Last Friday I had a craft / service night at my house. I got out all my scraps to make cards for troops. It wasn't a great turn out; however and we made almost 40 cards. I haven't decided how I am going to count them on my totals yet. It was ALL my stash, stamps, ink, ect.... but of course I didn't made them all. Any ideas?

Here's my thoughts
Your credit amount per card you personally made
$2 per person who attended
$5 (maybe even $10) Bonus for Community Service

That should help and encourage all of us to follow your example.

I am adding $5 to my earned for each thing submitted for publication because I need a little extra motivation.

Morning Deb

Yeah, me too. At first I thought why bother, they won't pay me. But then I started looking at the big picture of 'credits'. It's a publishing credit whether they send you a check or not.

I'm not sure I'm up to the submitting thing until I can sit and focus on my own designs again. But I'm checking out the publications in the meantime.

Which publications are you thinking of?

Spent the morning doing some research on this. Gotta run some errands and I am going to stop off at Michaels and look to see which magazines seem to publish stuff that kinds looks like mine. I have dt work to my credit but pub credit would seriously add to my resume. Cracks me up that I do have pub credits but they are for writing articles on foster parenting not for crafting.

Cool that you're a writer too.
Primarily my work has always been in novel form/short stories/ but nothing published - only high marks in contests. However, last fall I did get back to back articles in Polymer Cafe magazine. I'm working on a new one for that.

Default S2S Challenge #4

I'm posting this tonight ladies just in case I don't get on first thing tomorrow.
Here is this week's challenge:

Amongst your stash pull out 1 full sheet of DP or from a slab.
Instead of stamping your background for the OSW, use the Print DP or slab to create your own collection of One Sheet Wonders. Your stamping will come from adding embellishments and sentiments.

REMEMBER THE SIZES of the pieces you use. These will be key in next week's challenge!

If you are not sure of what OSW is... you can check out Mae Collins' blog link here:
http://maecollins.blogspot.com/searc...heet%20Wonders

A link for the OSW template is included in her first post under OSW or you can go to the template link here:
http://maecollins.blogspot.com/2009/...-16-cards.html

And for an awesome example of a set of cards made from OSW, check out this member's gallery item:
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...9431?&cat=3815

You can upload them all as one collection as the above member did. Remember to use S2S-4 in your upload. Can't wait to see what everyone creates.

Cool challenge Kelly. I am hosting an all day crop tomorrow. So that should help make up my totals.

How fun, Debi. Looking forward to seeing what you create.

I'm hoping to play most of tomorrow. Before granddaughter, Saturdays were my day to put on the 70's music channel on Direct TV and stamp all day long. Now, not so much LOL Now it's more about tomorrow night after she goes to bed.

I don't know...if the point of this challenge is to USE YOUR stash, then I think you should count them all...it was YOUR stash

I've been wondering about what to do for workshops etc...I had 4 ladies in this weekend who made 20 cards each...and it all came from my stash...but that was business...but then, I don't really keep business and personal separate...KWIM? So, I'm not counting them...but I'm also not counting all the "business" supplies I just ordered LOL I'm trying to keep this challenge more for personal stuff.

Great will power, Anita!

As to keeping business and personal separate... you're on the right track.

When it comes to using your 'stash' for group activities, I'd alot yourself so much credit per person attending. That way you're still getting credit for your stash but it is hard to count actual cards you can't do something with. In the end they aren't yours.

Hope this idea helps.

Good morning ladies.

I'm going to be posting Question of the Week in a bit. I'm hoping through each person's answers, we can help find solutions to the 'time to stamp' issue.

Have a Great week!

Default Question of the Week

Not using our stash sometimes isn't so much about not knowing what we have, but finding the time to sit and play. So here's this week's thought:

List up to three (3) obstacles that make 'play time' a challenge.

Next week, we'll do a follow-up so keep yours (and everyone elses' answers in mind)

3 obstacles ...

1 - Repairmen in my house
2 - NO water in my house
3 - Previous commitments

All those and amazingly, my 4 year old is NOT on that list.

Hopefully, that list will change after today, though .....

Great question this week

1. Caretaking for grandchildren. Now additional caretaking for invalid mother-in-law. F-I-L had a stroke so I'm flipping back and forth between 2 houses. M-I-L is bedfast so she needs almost round the clock care in her home.

2 Lack of space right now so I don't have a designated work area where I can start a project and let it lay until it's done. Consequently, play time has time constraints. How much can I get done in 10 minutes? Is it worth the time it takes to drag everything out?

3 Though I take things with me to work on at M-I-L's house, I don't always have the right supplies with me when inspiration hits. That's really a bummer. LOL!

I've been watching this thread even though I'm not able to play much right now. On the upside, I'm not spending much either LOL!

1. 14 month old
2. 3 year old
3. 4 year old
4. 5 year old
5. 2 teenagers!

Okay, that was meant to be funny. Here they are for real:
1. Taking care of my kids
2. Taking care of the house, laundry, cooking, dishes, ect.... - my DH gets home Friday from a 3 month deployment.
3. I think for me, it is just not MAKING the time. Not making it a priority. There always seem to be something else that needs to be done.

Hey Toni! It's never too late to start using up our stash. Glad you found us. Check back to the very first post to get a feel for where we're headed. You can also scan/read the rest of the posts to see what other 'credits' some of the members are creatively banking.

There are some challenges posted to help you use your stash. If you want the post numbers for those, I can PM them to you.

Just tell us how you want to bank your credits to Stamp 2 Spend.
If we can help with anything, just ask.

For me:

1: taking care of everyone else before me.

I dont' need 3 - that about sums it up at this point.

There are some challenges posted to help you use your stash. If you want the post numbers for those, I can PM them to you.

Just tell us how you want to bank your credits to Stamp 2 Spend.
If we can help with anything, just ask.
I read the thread today and will figure out what to "pay" myself for different crafting related task. I also saw the challenges posted and questions of the week.

Thank you for including me

My three obstacles are:

1) a messy craft room that sometimes stifle my creativity
2) a 3 year old who wants me to play with her
3) my own guilt about all the housework that I could be doing.

My obstacles don't sound much different from other people's obstacles.

I've only made it to post 21, but I am very interested.
Marking my spot I have to run away for a minute!

I'm amazed they still have a Ben Franklin. I thought they had shut them all down several years ago.

Where in IL are you from? We just moved out of IL about three years ago. My husband grew up there and I'd lived there most of 30 years.

We'll be here to welcome you stateside!

I have 2 Ben Franklins with in 39 miles of me in 2 directions. Very small towns though

How organized is your work space? Does the space as it is, help or hinder your progress in staying out of the RED

I'll have to say mine is now helping

What was the one thing that was a priority when you designed it?
First thing I'd change is my 2 folding tables would become counters with drawers, shelves and a space to sit at (room for the knees)
Space of my dreams??? I took over the master bdrm while my bf was gone for the day. I measured all the furniture to be sure it would fit in the den. Called 2 neighbor girls and offered them supper to come help me. Our dressers are real oak and older than me! They are so heavy! I have three bookcases that his dad made and he mis measured, so I took them! YEA for me! the one is exactly the depth of a set of stamps and 25 sets across. Another is the depth of a 12 x 12 scrap book! The 3rd is in between but perfect for those plastic drawer units, I keep all the little stuff in those.
My #1 priority is room, I don't wanna bump into anything, or run into anything (like the other chair)
I can put up a card table in the center if I get company to play with and still able to walk around it, but it annoys me, I feel like the room is clutter when its up! LOL
In my profile I have pics of this room right after I took over! There have been a few changes since.

List up to three (3) obstacles that make 'play time' a challenge.

Next week, we'll do a follow-up so keep yours (and everyone elses' answers in mind)

Sometimes they feel more like excuses than obstacles.
1. Chores, I take care of the farm a bit on my days off, otherwise Clint does it all. I am gone 3 or 4 days a week for work, so I try to spend time with him even it is feeding the Bull! LOL
2. Too much time on SCS instead of creating, I always say only 10 minutes then I'm gonna move my butt!
3. We live 15 miles from Town and like I said I'd gone some, so when I am home Clint always wants to go go go!

My kyds are all grown up and gone, so I can't blame it on them! LOL
