She is older, but I've always had her some space within my own space. It's helpful that I have such a big room. When she was Adrian's age, I put up a 'fence'/gate thing on one end of the room I had the whole end blocked off just for her. She had games and toys, along with a DVD player (that she could NOT reach) over there. She would stay occupied for an hour or more in that situation. Now, she watches movies or plays up here while I work. My Haven is no longer split in two, though. The library is adjacent to the Haven, and she plays in there, reads books, or watches a movie (the only VHS player in the house is in there ... with all of the videos the boys accumulated over the years). She's great about that. Jonah will often come up to play with her for a while, too - if he's not working at his table (which IS in my Haven).

Oh ... pictures of the Haven are on my creation blog if anyone is interested. We just redid the floor in there.

Hope she rests well for you today!!!

I remember when Jaydin had her own little place in the Haven. The boys have always been so good with her. Adrian loves to watch me sew. She will sit in her chair beside me and is just fascinated with the sewing machine. I can't step away from it to press anything though because she'll crawl up into the middle of the table and play with the buttons and posts on the machine.

Yes, the boys have always been wonderful with Jaydin, Kelly. I'm so proud of the way that they help with her and play with her. She *really* misses Jared because the 3 kids have always been sooooooo close.

LOL! Do you not have a cover for it? I have a cover over mine. Fortunately, though, I had that space blocked off when Jaydin was little enough to get into it. Now, she really just wants to learn to do it, too. I may have to teach her. Unfortunately, I don't sew more than a straight stitch.

We mail them to members for their birthdays. Each month we make them for the next month's birthdays. Here is the one we did this month for February:

Happy Birthday X 3

We even have a name for our group that we stamp the back and inside with: L.E.G.S. (ladies empowered by God's spirit)

I added 35 in that I finished last night but I will go back and add in the ones we had already gotten finished.
Thanks!

Wonderful!!!! 35! Great job.

I make cards for our deacon family ministry. Birthday cards go out to each person in our family ministry. We have about 20 families this year - 3 or 4 in each family .... I do these all on my own, though.

I LOVE the name of your group!!!

I do have a cover, Shell. It's while I'm in the middle of a project. I keep the iron/ironing board over the baby gate in the kitchen so she can't investigate hot iron. It's when I sew something then need to go press a seam that she crawls onto the table. I have gotten good at remembering to unplug it before I leave the room so she can't hurt anything, really.

Too funny! They are so curious and such good climbers. Gee ... what happens when we get older. No longer very adventurous, are we?? Oh well. Hopefully, we enjoyed it while we were little. LOL!

I like this idea and think I'll incorporate some type of allowance for actually mailing cards too!

Wow - that sounds like torture to have to wait for 2.5 weeks to play with a fun new toy! Hope you can sneak it out sooner.

It would be nice. For now I just look at the box when I make a trip down into the office (dungeon as hubby calls it). I kow the office has to have a total redo after they've moved out. Right now I don't even have a place to set it up. LOL But my creative mind is already at work on the rearrangement possibilities.

Hubby wants to build me a studio and get me out of the 'dungeon' now that I'm making money with my writing. How sweet is that! Unfortunately, at this point the expense isn't practical. I do understand the addition would have to go up before the siding. However, my garden shed came before his garage and now he's offering the studio before his garage. I'm thinking as bad as I'd love to have a studio with windows and 7' ceilings, it might be his turn.

I just updated my signature and am so excited. I've made 60 cards this month - 24 of them for the Christmas Card challenge. So far I've only spent a little on card stock so I'm starting to use supplies I've had on hand.

How's everyone doing?

Just wanted to post a reminder that Challenge #3 will post tomorrow.

I have part of Challenge #1 done and Challenge #2 is done. I'm still trying to get pics to upload but it's a slow (if not impossible) process on dial-up. But I'm trying.

Default Challenge S2S-3

Goodmorning, Everyone

With the weather outside cold and snowy here in the Ozarks, curling up with a good book sounds like a great idea. So here's this week's challenge:

Go to your bookshelf and pull out your favorite read - preferebly fiction.

Create a card using the colors on the cover.
This is a simple card. NO embellishments except for EMBOSSING in any form. Treat your card design as a book cover you want to catch your readers attention.

NOTE: Tell us what book you selected and what the colors were. If you want to provide an Amazon link to the book so we can see, that is fine. Just remember not to scan the book cover for comparison. Copyrights frown on that. hehe

Can't wait to see what you create.

I completed 4 more cards last night towards S2S-1. I'm slowly envisioning my scrap stash disappearing so I can buy new stuff

How's everyone else doing?

I'm enjoying the year of cards kind of fun. For the first time in I don't know how many years I'll have a card for my MIL this year. LOL I'm doing 2 for each month as I belong to a Missouri card of the month group and I always seem to be sending mine out last minute. This way I'll be all set for the year. The recip's may faint.

The book cover one is going to be a bit of a challenge. I have mounds of romance novels - hazard of writing them myself. I'm wondering do I pull one I already have or do I wait until I can pick up Candy Havens' first book next week when I go to town. Decisions Decisions. hehe

Default Question of the Week

My husband wants to build me a studio so I'm cruising the stamping space gallery, looking at my current work area and trying to create the 'perfect' creative space. So I'm curious....

If you could change one thing about your current work space, what would it be?

And if you have the space of your dreams...

What was the one thing that was a priority when you designed it?

I don't quite have the space of my dreams, if it was my dream space I wouldn't share it with the washer, dryer and freezer but it is as close as I can get it within space and budgetary restrictions.

You can see it here

My priorities were to have like things grouped together and as much out of sight as possible (since I work better in a neat environment) but within reach.

I love my stock cabinets from Lowes and my Jetmax cubes. Both were a really good investment for me.

Two things I'm keeping in mind. Because the studio will house both my writing and my stamping - like the current office - I need to keep the 2 areas separate and the items for them close at hand.

My thought right now is to put as much storage up against the wall as I can and leave the floor space open except for my work table.

That is what I would do with a bigger space. I would have all my storage on the walls and put my work table in the middle of the room. Due to lack of space my computer and desk where I pay bills, etc is in our family room. Hoping to get a laptop soon, then I can bring it right into my space.

I have my own space and I'm using things that I have around the house. The biggest problem that I have is that I don't have enough room to really move all the way around the table. I have to move carefully so I don't bump into things. My table is in the middle of the room and not along the wall.

I have the space of my dreams. The only thing I would change is to add more of my 'single' stamp shelves. My dh did a fantastic job with mine, and I really don't have much room for more of those. That's the only thing I'd change, though.

I understand this one. If you've seen the pics in my gallery of my stamping table, you'll see it extends out from the center of my stamping unit. This is great for accessing inks/punches/papers/ etc from my chair but for stamps I have to walk the narrow path around the end of the table to the other side where the stamp/ fiber drawers are at.
I'm hoping in the new design to have it come off the shelving unit. This would put the stamp cabinet at my back. It would be a matter of swiveling my chair around to reach anything with a clear path to walk back and forth in front of it. Still drawing. Keep the thoughts and ideas coming!
