I haven't really used it yet, still organizing it. I really like the concept though of having everything together. Tiffany's organizing system is a 4 section one: section 1 - alphas, numbers, words; section 2 - themes; section 3 - calendar; section 4 - rainbow. So for themes, everything to do with a theme, say birthday, goes together, including paper, ribbons, stickers, brads, etc. I have brads in one place, ribbon in another, paper in several places, and so on. I had participated in a lot of scrapbook swaps for border sets and kits a couple of years ago and those were in a couple of places. So, it's impossible to remember everything you have and where it is when it's all scattered. It's even more impossible to pack up to take with you. I think it will help me to use what I have now that it is in one place. There have been times that I've been at a retreat and wish I had a ribbon or something that I left at home. I'll really put it to the test when I go to my scrapbook retreat next month. One of the reasons I am purging so much is because I am trying to stick with one SR base unit. It is getting very full, especially my rainbow section. Also FYI, I have looked at the SR for three years before I finally decided to get it because of the price.

I've been looking at the SR for a long time, too. Just trying to decide if it's an investment I really need to make.

I'll post after my retreat next weekend if it helped me.

Even if you don't have a SR, the organization videos she is doing right now has lots of great info and ideas.

I had a scrap rack once with two bases full... it needed a table all to it self, the thing I hated about it was dusting it.. all the dust got into all the pages pockets... so, when you get done with it...

I'd put sewing a cover for it at the top of the agenda. ( just a thought )
( for all I know they make covers for it now a days)

Ok, I'm going to share our big news here! Emily auditioned last Saturday for her third college. They were not supposed to decide until after a second audition date which is tomorrow. She didn't have to audition twice, they just had two dates to choose from. Well...she got an email today that they were very impressed with her talent, technique and passion for dance and did an early acceptance! This school was actually at the bottom of her three but after being there last weekend and we got to watch a performance by the dance department, she loved it!

Oh Michele, that is great news! Is this the school she will choose, or will she wait to see what else happens? It's got to feel good to know she impressed them so well that they are offering her an early acceptance!

Yay, Michele. Tell Emily we're all very proud of her. We don't have to personally know her to be proud of her.

Hi guys, I've been lurking quietly again!
Thanks so much Ina for yur Aussie chAllenge. It was good as it was Australia Day that week!
Then on the second it was DS kens bday, 12!!!!! Wow, can't believe it!
And even more amazing is he READ his bday cards! It was so lovely.
I taught a card making workshop at church this Saturday. They are so much work! But it gives me money to buy more card stock etc, so hard t turn down, and they enjoy it. Had 12 this time. I am a bit pooped now! some time I will get samples loaded, but must admit some were straight SCS CASEs!!!

Hopefully I bounce back well tomorrow. So much to do around the house! Eeks!

Take care guys,
I've been making lots but just always I. Such a hurry, you can hardly call it it creative! I made 3 tissue boxes in eight days, ...overdue Cmas pressies!

Cheers for now, love s.

I was hoping to make more cards today, but only had time for one. At least it's slowly getting me back out of the whole. However, I'm going to slip farther down come Wednesday when I meet up with my stamping buddies. I have a bigger than usual order for SAB. Not huge, though.

Default S2S13G Challenge 'Faux patina'

Monday morning and it's raining here! I can't believe the changeable weather we have had this winter. Yesterday it was a perfect winter day at 3 degrees and sunny after a heavy winter storm on Friday that closed all the schools within 50 miles of here. We got about 13 inches of snow. Today, it is 37 degrees and raining!
It's time for another challenge. It's the second Monday of the month, so it's a technique challenge. My book says 'emboss resist' but the MIX2 challenge on Friday was a form of emboss resist, so I've changed it up to be 'faux patina' I love the results of this challenge. There are a few steps to this technique but well worth the final effects. My sample is here, but I will be making another one this week.

Yesterday my youngest DGD decided it was time to go swimming. She got her swimsuit on and went outside and started crying. No water in the pool. I guess she's ready for summer. Poor kid has another 4 months to wait until the pool will be filled.

I haven't tried faux patina yet. Hopefully, I'll find time to try it soon.

Hi Cory! It's never too late to join! Just jump in.

Thanks for the congrats everyone. I have relayed them to Emily. ECU is the school she has chosen. We are starting all that wonderful paperwork this week. We still don't know about talent scholarship yet because they require us to submit a scholarship form first. I am hoping that since she was selected for early decision, then she should get some.

I had a SU workshop Saturday and we made four cards. I had only planned for three but really wanted to play with SU's All Dressed Up framelits (LOVE IT) so I threw a quick one together while my customers were making the other cards and then they got to make the new one. I have taken photos and hope to get them posted on my blog and here through out the week.

Never too late Cory! This challenge is driven by you....we are just encouraging each other. You decide for yourself what you are going to pay yourself for cards made, scrapbook pages finished, challenges done. And many of us are also paying ourselves (on paper of course) for exercising, weight lost, and even doing jobs like organizing our stamping spaces. Keeping track of what we spend and how much we use our supplies makes us more aware and less likely to waste our money on things we really don't need.

Happy Valentine's Day to my crafty friends! I actually posted on my blog last night and again today. Today's post are Hershey bars I gave my girls today. Of course I couldn't just give them the plain bar, I had to dress them up. Now, I'm off to make heart shaped pancakes for my girls, then to the office, then hair appt and hopefully home after that. Whew!

Have a great day!

Happy Valentines Day to everyone.
It's a funeral for us today. Not so happy, but my friend and the grandmother of my two sons-in-law was 92 years old and enjoyed a full life, and even got to see her two great grandsons!

Sorry Ina. It is nice that she got to see her great grandsons and had a full life.

My DM is 87 and ready to go home to the Lord. But she is still around and independent. She always says she doesn't know why she is still here. i tell her she is here for me. But she has a lot of health issues. We don't know how hard it is to get that old yet!

So sorry Ina, but how lovely for her to have seen great grandchildren though.

We had fog this morning, it's only happened three times I think in twelve years, but it was so hot yesterday, I was nearly tempted to get out some summer clothes, now the fogs cleared its lovely and warm again. Hard to know what to wear this time of year.

Just finished the challenge Faux Patina. I totally messed up the first one, the card was still damp and so the embossing powder stuck to it all, not the look of faux patina but im sure it will be used sometime!!

Sharon,

My grandfather is 91 (92 in July) and is always talking about dying. I used to tell him I didn't want to hear that kind of talk. About a year ago, I had a revelation that he may need to talk about it...so now I just listen. He has multiple health issues and I think he is hanging on to make sure that my grandmother is taken care of.

I agree, we just don't know how hard it is to get to that age.

You know i just hope that if I get to that age that I have all my faculties, like your grandparents.
my great grand father died at 73, my grandparents both died at the age of 73, within a year of each other, then my uncle, their son, my mums brother died at 73, on her 73rd year my mum said her days were numbered and dad asked if she was going to become a hermit, then in the july she was diagnosed with cancer and died in the august six weeks later, age 73. Bit scary really when you see the family grave!

Sorry to hear of your loss Ina. Great that she was your friend, but then also family! Certainly is a good 'innings' as they say here.

Today, the 17th is DH's birthday, and boy was I glad I had the card class last week! We went out in a rush last night for dinner and came home late....anyways, I didn't hav his card ready! It was nice to walk into the card space this am. Wile he was in the shower and pick up some leftover cut cArd and make a card in about 5 minutes. Had it back on his pillow when he got out of the shower! Phew!!! Saved! We have a lunch at church today but the I will have to be busy this afternoon making the carrot cake with maple icing and the roast duck for dinner ( his work mates gave him a duck for his bday ). Should be good. Sounds nice, just have to tip toe through the pig sty to GET to the kitchen! We are painting DSs room and I can't believe how much stuf has come out of there!

... Just as you are getting warmer Jan we are starting to cool down! At least the sun is not quite as harsh, but it is stil hard on the skin. The days are getting shorter! I find I am already thinking what I can do later in the year to lift DH out of the impending depression that will come with winter. After last years big trip there isn't really the funds to go anywhere! ...as a friend has said "Gods will, Gods bill" we will see what comes up!

Have a great weekend guys. Love s.

We've been getting some very nice weather this past week. The last couple days I didn't need my winter coat. It was nice wearing a lighter coat. The snow and ice have had a chance to do some serious melting. Then I woke up to a little more snow this morning. Thankfully, not a lot. Just enough to hide the ice underneath.

I need to get my totals updated. I placed an order for the SAB so my totals slid farther into that hole. I'm getting pretty to close to having all my cardstock replenished. Now I just need to make the time to make a lot of cards. Next month I'll be sitting with DH at the art show he goes to every year. I can usually get some cards finished or at least do the fronts. Now all I have to do is plan on what I want to do and get the stuff together. Good thing I have a couple weeks to prepare.

I have to get all my cards done up to July before the end of April, we have the family over from san francisco after that for five weeks and we are in England for Charlie's christening for a week, won't get any time for crafting although Joey has his own craft area in the kitchen, mainly playdoh, maybe I will help him make some cards and upload them!

Okay I have started making "stuff" for the booth... got 9 of these tall bags ( all one of a kind) and this basket, and one pizza box (partially done) today besides a regular tag. all the tall bags have tags on them... these take me about as much time to make as a card. so they are worth a dollar on the scale then ya think?

Stacy, these are both beautiful! Definitely worth at least a dollar! I love the dp you used for the tall bag and the ribbons make both projects look elegant.

Lovely bags, I just paid myself a euro for making boxes for my fancy cards, they took me ages to make, not something I'm good at I'm afraid .

Default S2S13H Challenge 'Butterflies'

Time for this week's challenge. On February 18, 1904, the opera 'Madame Butterfly' premiered at La Scala in Milan.
This one should be pretty easy. Lots of us have a special love for butterflies on our cards. So that is our challenge...to make a card with a butterfly on it.
