Default S2S12 - Challenge

Happy Monday, ladies. We are almost through the month of August. Today's challenge is a favorite of mine.

August 25th is officially my 28th wedding anniversary (and hubby will be on the boat boo hoo).

But more importantly.. it's also officially Kiss and Make Up Day!

Your Challenge this week - Make a card with a SMOOCH, pair of LIPS or an I'm Sorry kind of card

AND

slip it into someone's briefcase, purse, backpack... etc letting them know you are thinking of them.

Or you could send it as an RAK to someone you know is having a rough time.

Spread the LOVE

KEYWORD: S2S12H1

I have trapped 11 of them so far. Usually they don't come in until Sept. or Oct, and only one or two of them. I'm not sure what gives this year, but I don't like it!
I've been seeing the signs here, too, since the temps have started cooling down. I think my hummingbirds have all gone south - almost a month early! And we heard the Whippoorwill a couple weeks ago in her migration south. We usually don't have her back until mid September.

No sign of woolly worms yet though.

August will really look good because on my cards for DTGD and pages for VSBN I did more than one challenge on each item. That adds up at $2.00 a challenge!
Now, maybe I will have time to do the Kelly's challenges.
Jan I hope you get thru the heat. I don't think I could go thru what you are describing! eek! Finally cooled down to 90 here. We do have spiders coming up the drains, though.

Sharon
Whoo Hooo on being in the good! LOL
I still need to update my bookwork. Hoping to do that this week now that things are quiet around here.

I'm afraid winter is going to be very cold this year after the mild one we had last year and the hot, dry summer we've been having.

I should be working on cards instead of being on the computer. At the very least, I should be making my dad's birthday present. I want to make an picture album of my granddaughters for him. That's the best present I can think of for an 83-year-old who needs nothing and buys what he wants.
Sounds like a perfect gift, Debbie.

I've not seen the spiders yet. I usually have 2 beautiful (yes I said beautiful) garden spiders each fall... one on the back side of the house and one by the garden shed.

I know I'm starting to think about winter stock-up. If it happens I'm prepared, if it doesn't, that's fine too

Thanks for the comments, Kelly. She's using the extra pages to keep track of the gifts and cards. It was a fun project and I one I would do again. The only thing I would change would be to start a lot earlier.

Kelly, did I imagine a challenge somewhere to use a wreath on your card? Is it one of yours? I have begun some Christmas cards and am using a wreath, because I thought there was a challenge for it. LOL I guess I will make them anyway. But is there one somewhere? CCC, or s2s, or AOCC?

Oh me, oh my! My neighbour is a SU demo and she had a retired products sale today. Needless to say, I went sort of crazy and spent $64.50. I'm never going to get under the $200. in the red mark now!

All you need to do is stamp more! LOL
I love it when the SU demonstrators sell their stuff. We get such bargains then! I spent a lot in June when my demonstrator and the ones in her group had a sale of all discontinued items. Such fun!
I am glad Ina that you were able to get some goodies. Are you going to tell us what you got?

Wow! That "On the Green" is something I looked for when I went to a SU! sale. Your paper sounds great! Can't wait to see your work using them.
Isn't is fun to make finds like that a sale prices?

Depending on what she had and how it was priced, I'd probably have had to set a limit to keep from spending 2x that. Go you for reserve!

Default S2S12I1 - Challenge

Okay... this week's challenge is FUN and should give you a head start on wishing someone good things for Halloween.

Mary Shelley - the author of Frankenstein was born on August 30th, 1797. Her story has been rewritten, created and recreated so many times. But there has always been one recurring element - the 'loveable' monster made from bits and pieces of this and that.

So here's your challenge:

Create a card strictly from left-overs in your stash. The only exception is your base.

Also -
Colors - Black and Green
Shapes - a square and 2 circles must appear as part of your layout. These can be in the form of either mats or embellishments.

KEYWORD: S2S12I1

I can not wait to see what you come up with. Mine will be a bit more literal and should have it done by end of the week.

Have a FUN!

Kelly and Debbie thank you both for checking for that challenge. Guess it doesn't matter I got Oct. Christmas cards done. Can you believe it, only Nov left!

Kelly, I like that challenge; I have so many leftovers!

Ina- Yes, I hoarde! what is with that? Sometimes, don't want to use something becasue it is so pretty! And, sometimes, I like a card so much, I have to wait for someone real special to send it to.
LOL
Happy Monday everyone!

Here is my card for your challenge, Kelly! I put all the details in the description. Just wanted to say, I had to stamp and cut the verse out to match the black panel, but it was a white scrap.
Here is Black & Green. And I would like to say I do like those two colors together!

Also, I like all these tidbits you come up with for the challenges! I need you to help me to come up with inspiration challenges in the scrapbook side!

I got mine updated, too. I started climbing out of the hole, but slipped a little ways.

It's a lot cooler here in northcentral Montana. Feels like rain. I hope so because the smoke from all the fires around the state are making me miserable with allergies. Right now there's an area of Glacier National Park on fire. So far it's small in comparison of all the other fires that have been burning. Kudos to all the firefighters who haven't much down time all summer. It's kind of funny how we hear about all the fires in other states but I haven't seen anything on the Montana fires. A lot property and homes have been lost.

Glad your headed up, Ina. As long as you're using what you purchase, that's the important thing. I need to update mine too. Bookwork is on my list for this week.

Default S2S12J1 - Challenge

September 7th marks the birthday of primitive painter, Grandma Moses. She would have been 152!

I'm including a picture of one of her paintings to inspire this week's Challenge. I thought it was the perfect choice as we move into Fall.

Hello everyone ! We are back from your side of the world to our side! We got home last week. We had a lovely 7 weeks in north America. Of course it all went very quickly, but by the same token, we were all a bit tired and ready to come home. I just feel like I could have spent a lot longer with my mom.

We had lots of lovely times and made sure that our time with my family was interspersed with time for the three of us to get away on our own things. It was a good mix of geography ( bay of fundy, eastern canada, central canada and rockies, as well as our stop in hawaii) and history ( war of 1812 in several places, battle for Quebec on the plains of Abraham, titanic, French and Acadians in nova scotia, and mennonites).

While we were in Ontario we had a very lovely weekend with a special lady. Our meeting started with something like" so you must be Ina, ....yes, and you must be Stephanie " .... Yes, we had a lovely weekend meeting and getting to know Ina as she drove us to and around her area, and we shared some special things with her. In case any of you are up near Toronto Ina is a most fantastic and generous host!! Thank you so much Ina for your effort and time that you spent with us. We really appreciated it. .....and Ina, make sure you pay yourself for the stamped images you let ken and I have! That should get you under $200!!! Ken really enjoyed his and they were great for him to colour in along n our travels. I am still deciding how to use mine! Maybe I should return one to you in a card!

The ironic thing was that DH was concerned that Ina and I were going to spend the whole weekend stamping!!! As it was we didn't even get around to it! LOL!!! Ina lives in a very restful area and what blessing that was! It was the one chance we had to get out and do some walking it the bush. Thank you Ina for everything.

On our last weekend we were out in Calgary and up to the mountains near Banff.man it is soooo stunning! After many months I could feel some of my creative motivation returning. Found some nice colour combinations in the mountains! I am home and wanting to create, as well as needing to create my thank you cards. Have made a few, a slow start but will get there. Saw the new christmas catty from SU and wow! Soooo much I love!!!! S that means I have to get my Norwex business going again so I have some money to spend! It is pretty dead in the water at the mo' so needs serious effort!!

My fitness also needs serious help after all that naughty food! Getting back on the straight and narrow again gradually and trying to wean myself off sugar again! ken and I have started taking Pilates so maybe that will help to get me moving and motivated. And spring is coming, so that is nice too!

Better run, nice to catch up, even if only sometimes. Good to hear all your news. Glad to hear from you Sammy and that things are coming along for you.

Love to all, I hope to drop n again soon. Love, s.

Stephanie, so glad to see you back on this thread! I absolutely loved meeting all of you. Hosting you was totally my pleasure! It sure was quiet here after you left!
Aren't those Rockies just breathtaking!? The last time we were there, the kids were young.....Leanne was only 4. The kids fell asleep in the car enroute from Calgary to Banff and when they woke up, they could not believe their eyes!
I had my cataract surgery on Wednesday and at this point my eyesight is very close to being clear....still a little haziness. I can't believe the difference in the quality of the light! Everything looks so bright and white! I hope to do some card making this week, seeing as I am not allowed to lift anything heavy or exert myself too much. Stephanie, thanks for reminding me about the stamped images. I will give myself $5. for them. Adding that to the two cards I have made this week (not posted yet), will put me below the $200.

Stephanie, the Banf area is so beautiful. However, the last time I was there was 39 years ago. We spent a week in Canada for our honeymoon. Can't believe it's been that long ago. We've been to Canada several times over the years, but mostly to go to Medicine Hat for cub scouts. I'm glad you had a great time. Maybe I'll win the lottery one of these days, then I could take a trip to meet Ina and would love going to Australia to meet you. Oh, wait a minute. I'd have to buy a lottery ticket to win
