I got back from Nebraska last night. The week went by too fast, but I was ready for my bed. DD is doing great. You wouldn't know she just had surgery. I'm sure having no one to take care of for four days helped a lot. She was able to get lots of sleep. We had lots of fun. I walked with the oldest DGD at her school's walk-a-thon on Friday. Took the girls to the children's zoo on Saturday. I really tried talking DD into staying home so I could have the girls to myself, but she can't stay away from animals any more than her girls. Good thing it's a small zoo. I did get to go to Hobby Lobby one day. Most of the papers were on sale so I bought some Christmas papers. I'm glad I had the 2-year-old with me or I would have spent every penny I had in there. I also had to remind myself I only had one suitcase with me so everything had to fit with my clothes. I really miss having Hobby Lobby close. When I lived in Nebraska I lived only 5 blocks from that store. That was before I got hooked on stamping. Now the nearest one is 250 miles from me. That's probably not a bad thing for me. Now I need to get creating once I get back into a routine. I'm wishing I took today off from work but I only work hours. I have a coupld sympathy cards to send out.... again. The day I left town my SIL's mother passed away and my son's boss's daughter, who was also my classmate, lost her struggle with cancer. They lost a son last year due to many years of major health problems. I feel so sorry for the family. I hope this doesn't mean I'm going to be making lots more sympathy cards, except to build up my stash.
Glad you're home, Debbie and your daughter is doing so well. I am sorry to hear sympathy cards are back on your 'to do' list.
I need to figure my April yet. Maybe I can do that one evening while Adrian is watching TV. I have a ton of stuff to do tomorrow before we leave on Friday to go get her. I look forward to having her but would so much rather not make the trip this weekend. LOL I"m turning into such a hermit. Kind of not a good thing when you're a reporter for the local paper. hehe.
I am referring to Post #352 tonight and making a Thank You card with a music theme. It has to go in the mail tomorrow. Just not sure I'll get the photo posted before next week.
I've been sick most of the time since I've been back from my trip. Haven't had the desire to post or make cards. I have some cards I have to make this week, though. Three more sympathy cards and a couple graduation cards.
Pretty quiet here....no posts for the past week! Maybe everyone is out gardening, like I have been!
I've been taking care of family members who were sick and/or recovering from minor surgery. Plus I threw a six year old birthday party (not to mention all the house cleaning that goes with that)!
I know I missed Monday's post. Will get it up in a minute. We hit storms in Sikeston MO on Sunday night on the way home from Nashville so didn't make it home until around noon Monday... putting me behind before I'd even started LOL
The American Red Cross was founded on May 21st, 1881. It was also Canada Day. Note the colors they both share are Red and White...
So your challenge this week is a simple one. Use RED and WHITE on your card. You may use whatever else you want, AS LONG a Red and White are your focal colors.
So glad you are getting better Debbie (and Toni's family) Springtime is no time to get sick, what with the warmer weather and the budding trees and spring flowers to enjoy. And in my case, lots of garden and yard work.
Kelly, little correction here, if you don't mind. Canada Day is July 1st. This past Monday (May 21) used to be called Victoria Day, but is now simply called the May 2, 4 (pronounced May two four) weekend, as Queen Victoria's birthday was May 24, but the holiday is hardly ever held right on the date. It's an opportunity for people to have fun and open their summer cottages, etc. I am excited to try a red and white card!
Thanks, Ina. I have a big project coming up over the next couple months. My boss is retiring in August so I'm making her guest book for her party. I'm so happy to have lots of designer paper now so I won't have to spend a lot of time on each page. I just have to make sure I have enough pages. She's a big part of our community and a lot of people are going to miss her in the library. There's going to be a lot of people at the open house. Before the big party, the staff is going to take her out to dinner. We want to have our own special party for her. There's going to be a lot of tears at that time. This project should boost my totals back into the black.
Got my sympathy cards I needed done. I still have to put the rest of the OSW pieces together. They'll mostly be for sympathy cards. Note to self: pay attention to the card base you are using. It might already be a card. I didn't realize I was putting the second card together on the back of one of the first 2 cards. Surprise, surprise. It was an easy fix. I just cut them apart and put them on a white card base. Nothing wrong with my mind today:P
Hey girls. I'm in to update and post this week's challenge. Sorry it's late. We got in from OK late Monday night. Adrian brought home a serious headcold... not fun for a 4 yr old. She cried most of the last 2 hour drive. I'm going to put the challenge up then look back to see what you've been up to.

Thanks for the correction, Ina. All I had was my age-old paperwork from Girl Scouts.

It seems we need more and more of them these days. I have decided it's because we're getting older... aka the people we've known all our lives are reaching their due... So sad.
I have everyone updated. You still have until tomorrow to get in on a challenge. Unless I've missed someone (and it's entirely possible LOL) Ina is the only one in the running for prize this month!
Please, please, someone post a card for one of the challenges for this month. I already won a prize and much as I enjoyed it, it's only fair that someone else should win it this month!

The sad thing is most of the cards I had to make earlier this year were people younger than me. I'd expect to see more people my dad's age than my own or younger.
Toni and Ina, thank you for the nice comments on my graduation card. Thank you, Sharon, for the inspiration. Your card is much better.
Debbie I like yours much better! I would have said something sooner, but have been at my daughters for over a week! I love your colors, and I am glad you showed the inside. I didn't do that, and should have.

So can I still put a card on? Only one challenge? The red and White one?
I will try to put one on. What were the challenges this time. I thought I did one. But the months go so quickly, and I was gone. So entirely possible I didn't do one this month.

Thanks, Sharon. I used the school's colors and the senior class motto. I still like yours better. It was a fun card to make. I'll have to give it some thought on how to use if for something other than graduation.
I just updated my totals. It is embarrasing how much I have spent! I just want to say most of it was two large SU! orders! But at least by keeping track of what I make...it looks beter! And I am ahead of the deal! I will say I shared some of the supplies I bought this month with my DD. And some of the spending was for organizer drawers and extender for my stamp pad holder. But I am counting it all, including albums and refils for my SB albums. LOL oh well.

Yep... The first hot air balloon flight took place on June 5, 1783 in France.
Have you ever taken a hot air balloon ride? I haven't but think I'd like to. And I'm afraid of the combination of height + moving. So yeah, Ferris Wheels are out for me! LOL
I saw on a Giada weekend getaway a couple years ago where she visited Sonoma Valley. On Sunday morning she took a balloon ride high above Sonoma Wine country then went to brunch buffet at a local establishment. It was like a package deal kind of thing. At the time I had entered a Build A Better Burger competition. The cook-off was always held in Sonoma Valley (sponsored by a wine vineyard) and I hoped I'd get to be a finalist so I could go. Alas, it was a anniversary year and they moved the cook-off event to Miami FL. I had no interest in FL so wasn't too bent out of shape when I didn't place in the top 10.
Okay... So here's your inspiration for this week:
You are NOT limited to the colors in the balloon, just wanted a little something to get your creative gases flaring!
Kelly, I'm not too keen on heights myself. I would probably freeze and close my eyes until I was on the ground again. But I don't mind flying. Looks like a fun challenge. Hope to get to it sometime this week. But I'm behind on all of the challenges.
