Yes, hi ho Silver and away!!!

Missy you really should stay in the line long enough to get the bargains, I would queue for a week for a good bargain..... oh ok, maybe overnight.... oh ok, maybe 10 mins maybe...

Now I have to go to have a little nap, up too early this morning and I am tired already, why is this so??? I might be getting older and get tired all the time.... or maybe it is something else like chronic laziness!!!

tooooodddaaaaaallllooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Both are very pretty. Pretty sneaky to combine both the rosette and pinwheel in one card.

Some of you posted a rosette card, but no pinwheel card. Just wanted you to know that you get two extra points this week if you post one of each!

Heart Straw Tecnique with Silhouette YCDI15

♥ Hello Gals... .
*three time's a charm! as I lost both my previous posts!!!* (
This week I would like you to try the 'Straw Blowing Tecnique' also
known as 'Blow Art'. Unfortunatley I couldn't find anything on SCS
tutorials, but did find a few you tube videos for you. )
This tecnique is much fun and all you need are: a straw, reinkers,
glossy card stock and a paper towel for wiping.
Once your c/s is dry , please use a SILHOUETTE stamp
to enhance your beautifully created background....
Here are the links for you to peruse.
(I followed Frenchie's instructions for my straw tecnique card)

......HAVE FUN BLOWING....

Straw Blowing Technique using Reinkers - YouTube

Straw Blowing background frenchiestamps.com - YouTube

The Straw Technique for Beautiful Backgrounds - YouTube

*as U can see I made 4 background samples to show you, using the Straw Tecnique
and completed only one card to show you....the rest will follow... ;o)

Yes, I did have trouble with the rosette, but that's ok. I'll try it again next time.

No straws at my house! Actually I'm not so sure I have a silhouette stamp! Guess I'll have to see what I can come up with "faux'!

Connie when I first played with rosettes, I had so much trouble with them, especially getting them to stick, until I discovered my hot glue gun.

I have always loved them and used to make them before I ever heard of a scoreboard, I made them like the little folded fans I made at school when I was little. you know a piece of paper and fold it about 1/4 inch this way and turn it over and fold it again the other way until it is all done with valley and mountain folds alternately making a fantastic fan.

Well that was how I started, just with a strip of paper about an inch wide and 10 inches long.

For me...I found that you really had to worry about the width...if it was too wide I could not get it to do anything

Well blow me away with a straw.....

Yes of course I would have a straw, it is an essential part of playing with dough or clay, what else do you make little circle marks with???? Now to get the air gun to attach to it...

hahaha thanks Paola!!! Trust you to think of a kiddies craft with all those grandies around you!!!! Well done.

I will play with this tomorrow.... have a great day girls.

My links are updated! Beat you Lynn!! LOL I woke up to a good text message. I don't have to babysit this week at all! YAY I'm free, free, free as a bird!! Also, the body is beginning to move a little bit better for the past three days too. Maybe a trip to the new JoAnns is in order?? The only two things that could make this day perfect would be sunshine and my appt to the back doctor to be moved to an earlier date!! Woohoo, but I will take what I can get!

If you make them wider, you must make two and connect them. But then you have to make a bigger card for it to fit on! My problem was holding it in position while it stuck to the glue. I used Beacon's 3 in 1 glue. It is quick grab, fast dry, but it smells so use it in an open space or your eyeballs will start to roll!

I found a straw! Not much of a straw but a straw! It's the one that hooks onto the can of compressed air we have to blow out the dust on the computer keyboard. Not sure if I like what I came up with ( some ink blobs that didn't move much - that small straw doesn't blow much air) but ill use what I have... When it dries I'll see what I can come up with. I have solid stamps.....

Lynn, I'm surprised you didn't pass out on the floor using a straw like that! LOL I have a regular straw, but it's short. Not sure I will get to this today, but I did watch the tutorials so I know what to do....

Good morning! I'll find the new challenge later this morning, but in the meantime, I want to thank everyone who participated in the rosette and/or pinwheel challenge! SO, since it was a double challenge, I'm going to have the prize drawing times 2! Will be back later today to announce the two random winners.

Talking

WHEW!! My weekend was SO busy (but fun!!) I was exhausted when I got home yesterday evening!! I even slept REALLY late for me this AM! Guess I was trying to "catch up" on the sleep I really lost this weekend!!
We didn't get any awards, but we had fun! That is the most important thing!! It was fun being the first chorus on the stage - we got to see all of the others instead of only seeing a couple of choruses like we usually do since we're close to the end (like 15th in line when 16 chorusues are participating).

Only frustrating thing - the entire hotel was awakened before 6:00 AM yesterday when a Fire Alarm went off. A blaring, continuous sound with the recorded announcement that we were too stay where we were as they "checked out" their alarm. It continued to blare/announce for almost 20 minutes! Talk about a frustrating wake up (and I had gone to bed about 2:00 AM after the Afterglow that was held!)!! They came back on, said the situation was investigated & all was OK. I went back to sleep for about 1 hour, then had to get up. We left there about 11:00 AM, I got home about 5:00 PM. Long drive!

OK- here is the video of our chorus this year. The beginning has someone talking for several minutes - we're after the lady announces us:
(and the solo part you hear in the 2nd song is the Bass section!!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVDBJgHedNA&feature=youtu.be

Today I plan to REST!! (Maybe I'll get more done with some cards.) I plan to get "back in the swing of things" tomorrow. We won't have chorus tomorrow night so I'll have a quieter day tomorrow!

Thanks to all of you thinking about us & wishing us well!!
(((HUGS))) to EVERYONE!!

Your rosette turned out to be beautiful! I love that dsp!

Thanks Janet for the video of the chorus - I really enjoyed watching/listening to it.

I'll be back later to try the straw technique. One of the Mixability Challenges suggested this as one option a few weeks ago, but I chose another option. So I guess I get a chance to try it this week. Be back later with whatever happens. LOL!

Well, I was gone for over a week, but back now and can't wait to get back crafting. The straw blowing looks fun. Guess what? Not a straw in the house! Today is my day to take Mom on errands and out, so will get a straw at her house. Will be back tonight and try this.

Drumroll please.......

The Rosette challenge winner of a gift boxed, beaded letter opener is......

AND, (I've also added random prize #3 based on names of those who created both a rosette and pinwheel cards)....these 4 peeps are in a separate drawing since they created both rosette and pinwheel cards, Dea, Kathy, Marney, and Lynn (muzbysmom), the winner of prize #3 is DEA !!! Congrats to the winners..... Kathy,Connie and Dea... You lucky people, but you deserve it.Thanks Vicky for your challenge.

Sama- Great challenge.. I have tried this before butI do not have any re inkers so use the acrylic paints and they create a much blotcher effect.. But I love the effect you got..the soft colors are great.
I will trying it out again for sure...and maybe try some of the softer colors..... and if it is ok to use a different medium...

I just got home. My friend's plans changed for today and she was free so we went to check out the new JoAnn's. I was disappointed as a cardmaker. Two or three rows of supplies and nothing major....I didn't buy anything. We also stopped in at Michaels and again, I didn't buy anything. I think I spent 51 at Staples (I had a $12 rewards coupon). Then we had lunch at Applebees. I had french onion soup and shrimp and spinach salad and the brownie bite for dessert! YUM! Best part of the day. Stopped in at Walmart and Big Lots too. I am moving much better but that bit of running has me pooped....so I had to get a DD on the way home! Drinking it now! Then my friend just called and said our SU order has arrived so another friend is picking that up later! Goodies! AND then, even better, I win that gorgeous letter opener I have been drooling over all week! I knew this morning it was going to be a good day because I had a text first thing saying I didn't have to babysit this week and the song "something good is going to happen today" kept running through my mind! AWESOME!

By the way, in all the excitement, I forgot to say Thank you to Vickie for offering up this wonderful prize!

Kathy, so happy that you are having a great day!

The straw blowing isn't as easy as I thought it would be! I've been using glossy photo paper (have tons of it and thought it would be a good substitute for glossy cardstock). I get the reinker to blow alright, then when I try to "smear" it all over it just doesn't look right! I can't get the softness that I'm seeing in some of the videos and in the gallery. I did create a card, but it's ugly, yet colorful! I've tried a few other color combinations and am going to keep trying! My question is, has anyone used the glossy photo paper ?? It is close to the same weight as the glossy cardstock. May I'll let loose of a sheet of SU glossy CS to see what result I get. OR, has anyone tried it on regular whisper white cardstock?? Off to try it again! Great challenge, Paola!

I have some Tim Holtz glossy cardstock somewhere around here, but I can't find it! So I may end up trying the glossy photo paper. I thought as you did that it should work, but I haven't tried mine yet. I will get back to you once I am too exhausted to continue my search for the TH glossy!

I couldn't find my TH paper and the glossy photo paper just doesn't work. It grabs the color and dries too quickly to move it. I also used too dark of colors so mine is not very pretty....will try again if I can find the TH and if I can't, I will pick some up this week at Michaels. May go up there tomorrow.

Vicky |i hsve used the photo glossy paper with alcohol ink and you are right it does not have the same effect as the glossy cs. It seems to absorb to much of the medium you are using or something.... so hope you understand what you mean..
I have used the photo paper and the alcolhol inks to do scenic backgrounds etc and because for those you can swipe it along the paper and definite lines do not matter.. Hope that makes sense.....
I have made 3 bg for the new challenge but have used acrylic paint watered down a bit and I like them . Now have to decide what to do with tem.
