I loved Yvonne's technique so much that I went shopping! Bought a black roller to use with black ink cause I don't want to mess up my good one. Then I bought some glossy paper. So I should now have everything I need for that. PLUS, I bought KCompany paper stack Botanical to finish a Mother's Day card my friend asked me to do. Also bought a few more prismas and my niece's bridal shower gift. I can't believe what people put on their bridal registries these days! Games, Movies, camping gear....whatever happened to dishes, towels, kitchen gadgets, etc??? I ended up getting her the shower curtain and iron that she wanted. I'm not paying for their entertainment! She has her own home and her boyfriend has been living there for a year or two now anyway...Do I sound grumpy? I'm really not...just another pet peeve of mine I guess.

I also agree Kathy. I once went to buy a wedding gift for someone and you would not believe what they had listed. Not one single item on the list was something anyone could truely afford. I mean come on!!!!!! People seriously think you are going to buy them numerous shower gifts and then spend a few hundred dollars on a wedding gift also?????? Needless to say, they got VERY few items they listed.

Maybe they are hoping you will go in with someone else to get the big ticket items? Trouble is, I would need about ten other people to chip in for some items!!

I gave up, temporarily, on the wax resist technique. Dumped what I had done, went off and relaxed a bit, and came back to try another one. This is the Grid Technique.

Yes, I did get my crayons. Then the kids came by and of course I had to go outside and play with sidewalk chalk, bubbles and balls with the grandkids. They just left so now I need to get back into the crafting mood. My son just bought a puppy golden receiver (we had one years ago and had to have him put down, getting old and had hip problems) and so we had to play with the new puppy too

Love the card Bev Nixed the wax paper idea because you said you tossed yours. Thought I would wait to see if you make one and then decide if I would want to tackle it. Sounded like it might be too hard.

It works as long as I remember to update it each time the challenge changes!

I've got my inked background finished. I just have to make a card with it now!!

The actual technique wasn't difficult. I just screwed it up with everything else I tried to do with it! Give it a whirl...I'll return to it before the week's out.

wax resist is one of the only times I get out the ironing board.!!! tee hee...

Marion I do not get emails from the threads, I turn them off, it is crazy for me to get that many emails,................ so............ I log into my subscription page and when I want to go to a thread I click on the little green triange/arrow at start of the listing and it will take you to your first unread post. That was I do a read through to the end and do reply to posts in a separate tab along the way.... if you want to find out more about this, let me know.

I get over 120 emails a day and no not need any extras, over half of those I just delete.

Loving the backgrounds girls, I am so pleased you are all trying something different and enjoying it!!

Kathy you are my hero, a brand new brayer for black!!! Go girl!!!!! I have 3 brayers, a speedball one (like SU) and 2 ranger red acrylic brayers, one of those I use for paint and other things.

Hello everyone I have missed here, love to see you all. Hope your day is getting inky or papery!!!

There are so many ways to do this

* stamping all over, stampin just once or twice
* Direct to paper with your ink pads
* Sponging or painting over the background
* Using a brayer
* Using shaving cream and re-inkers
* Using alcohol inks (if you have them)

There are loads of ideas here

And more in the techniques department here These are all background, but not all inked backgrounds....... check them.

This will give you a chance to experiment, there is only one rule here.... get some ink on your card preferably in a different way so you learn something!!!!

Another rule, have fun or it is the naughty step for you!!!

The waxed paper technique is so easy..... unless I have it wrong....

Take some waxed lunchwrap..... squish it up...... flatten it out........ lay it between 2 pieces of gloss cardstock, glossy side facing the lunchwrap, take a teatowel and iron it!!!

Separate and rub an ink pad over the glossy card...... WHALLA perfect background in the colour of your choice!!!!

Ok now I will take a looksie at what it really is......

I did it a bit differently. I took a piece of wax paper and put it in an embossing folder. Then put it between the glossy cardstock and ironed it. Then I inked it up and had the embossing folder design on it instead of the wrinkled look.

Default Marney

I'm still trying to fix Marney's problem. Here's another thing to check. Go to your Control Panel (very top right of screen where it says welcome, Marney) and go into your control panel. Then scroll down on the left to where it says Edit Options and click on that. The second section there is a place that says Default Thread Subscription. Click on that down arrow and choose Instant email notification and then go to the bottom of the screen and click on Save Changes. See if that works.....I won't get any sleep til we get you fixed!!

I used the Birds and swirls folder. It came out nice, but I may try it using a couple different ink colors to jazz it up a bit. Still haven't made a card with it yet.
