So far, it's been a great day here! Sun's been shining and so mild. We had a ladies breakfast at our church. There was quiche and little ham tarts and several different kinds of coffee cake or loaves, none of which I can eat as I eat gluten free. However there was a fabulous hash brown casserole and I had seconds of that, as well as some fruit. We had a video on how to deal with grief......very good.
I was just home for about 15 minutes when my DD called and said they were taking my grandson to the playground, so I drove back into town to play with him. Lots of fun. I got to see the baby too, but she slept the whole time.
Yes Dea, I have 3 1/2 grandsons in Austin. The half is the almost 3 year old son of my son's live in girlfriend. They are aged 18, 15 and 7, so pretty independent and other than the youngest, don't spend too much time with grandma when she is there. I also only get down there 3 or 4 times a year. I daresay it will be cheaper for me to travel to Austin than for you to fly to Edmonton. My flight in three weeks from today cost me only $280 return from Buffalo, which is about a 2 hour drive from here.
Marion, I applaud you for getting your Christmas cards on the go.
Lynn, I'm so sorry your beautiful angel broke. Can she be fixed? It's really hard to find an angel for the top of the tree that is beautiful, elegant and to your satisfaction. I finally have one that I really like.

I'm so tired today. Not sure why. I have used all my poinsettias Lynn and they were lovely. I even used the two leftovers from last year! I have a good start on my cards!

No card making for me this weekend. Played in the playground with my grandson, prepared the Sunday school lesson, made rice crispy squares, salmon cakes and 'The best ever' gluten free brownies (except they are not best ever any more because I altered the recipe) Today, after church I will drive to Toronto for my grandson's first birthday party. That's what all the baking was for.
I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!

Lynn what part of the card do you want to know how I did it. It really was quite simple, very messy and fun to create.

Dea...so if I have gesso...would that work? I figure you cut out the elements then layered them in the "snow"...wow very creative.

Lynn

The only image that has been layered is the tree

I inked the sky, then stamped the houses, then stamped the tree, then painted the snow on, then I stamped a second tree and cut it out and added it to the card, added a little more snow to the houses for depth and voila you have my card.

You can mix gesso with cornstarch if you don't have baby powder, add glue and water, it will work the same. You need the cornstarch or baby powder to make it thick. Add the powder to the density that works best for you. I put mine in a sealable jar, it is six months old, I just add water when needed. You will need to mix it every time you want to use it.

Lynn, the reason why you are craving a snack at that time is because you are tired. Have you tried going to bed earlier? Unless of course you are an evening person and get a lot accomplished in the evening. I go to bed early and get up early because I am most productive in the morning.
A really nice low calorie snack is frozen grapes.

Dea, your supper sounded so yummy and healthy too. Regarding your beautiful snowy winter scene card, when you use baby powder to make the snow, does it have a baby powder fragrance?

Good morning! Your challenge for this week is to make a gift card holder! I thought with the holidays coming and all a lot of us just might need gift card holder so....

I made three samples. The first picture shows them closed and the second shows them open. The first is a card made using the envelope punch board. The second is a copy of a gift card holder that's basically a small card that has a sleeve that fits around it copied from one I made at my demo's a while back, the third is a Beanie Cap Gift card holder (tutorial by Splitcoast). If you type in "gift card holder" in either a search on YouTube or in a search in the tutorial section of Splitcoast several tutorials/videos will come up with ideas for gift card holders!
