Joan, you are more than welcome. You would not believe the help I needed when I first started. LOL I thought they were all just going to kick me off the thread LOLOLOL
Your image is still pending approval so I will look later.
Glad you decided to make a card and join the group. HUGS
I was away all day. Demo friend and I went to a LSS and spent an hour and half going through goodies. I bought a DieNamics die called mini doily circles! 4 dies in the set. Also bought a vertical Christmas sentiment and two 3-packs of adhesive refills because it is the old tombo that works better. Once that's gone, you will probably only be able to get the new blue stuff and I don't like that as well. I also bought two sheets of 12x12 butterfly paper. It is white and I plan to ink over it in colors I want. And finally a pack of butterfly stickers for a friends Christmas box I am filling.
Dani, you called us alphaeggheads and it reminded me of when my son was in kindergarten. I got called to the principals office. It seems my adorable little boy called him Mr. Egghead! How do you scold such a sweet boy while giggling in your head? LOLOL He needed to learn respect, but I still giggle to this day over that silly thing.
Vickie, my BIL loves Elvis....he would love that card!!
Donna, yay a break from babysitting. Do something nice for yourself!
Lynn, just love you as always.
Lauren, Yvonne, and Marion....love you both as well.
Joan, glad Donna could be on to help you. She's a sweetheart ya know.
I wish I hadn't started naming people because I may miss someone. HUGGS for you alllll.
LOL Lynn, How is helping someone being corruptive???? LOL If that is the case, then yup you are definately the Chief of Corruptors LOLOLOL
Wow, Kathy, you HAVE to show us that doiley die you bought Sounds like you got alot of nice things.
I have to go to a crop tomorrow, starts at 9:00am and ends at midnight. WTH?????? Who has a crop for that long. What the heck am I suppose to bring, I have never been to one before. I will say, I am NOT taking my whole craft room. Oh man, what am I going to work on for that long.
PLEASE give me some suggestions.
I do know I am going to work on.........quilling, thank you cards, birthday cards but what should I bring to do these. I know I will forget something real important. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now find a big bag or one on rollers to make it easier to carry
you NEED scissors, adhesive, cardstock, quilling tools and a bone folder! there is your start...you probably need some ink and some stamps too.
Just think of what you want to make...pull the stuff..now you can put each card idea into a separate baggie or stack them all together. and you don't have to stay the whole time...but do make time to talk to people and make new friends

I don't think you have to stay that whole time....I've never been to a crop, but I always thought you took what you wanted to work on and stayed as long as you wanted. I'll bet some will even come later than 9. I think the hours are set so a lot can attend. I'm just guessing though....
Hey Donna, DS is truckin' to Des Moines either tomorrow night or early Sunday morning! Wave to him as he goes by! LOL Actually, I'm not sure which truckers route he will be running so not sure how close he would be.
Kathy, I like those dies. Des Moines is about 3 hour drive from my house. But I will try and remember to wave at every trucker I see and maybe he will be one of them They will all think I am some kind of Hooker
Thank you Lynn for the tips, I got everything packed, I don't have a crop wheelie thingy so I just am going to use a rolling suitcase. No Kathy, I don't think you have to stay the whole time, but I have to rely on someone taking me and picking me up. Plus from what I have heard there is only 6 of us going to be there!?!?!?!?!?!? She is a friend and very very nice but she does not plan thing properly. KWIM???

OMGoodness......mental picture.....not a good one!!! LOL LOL LOL
Guess what I made today?.......I made my own homemade lip balm. It was soooooo easy and it turned out great!!!!!!!. Thinking about starting a facebook page and selling my tutus and lip balm and handmade soap and candles. Maybe even dip my hand into simple jewelry making. The kind anybody can wear. I am allergic to nickel so I don't wear jewelry but.........who knows, I may just have to start
Donna, I've been to many crops and they're a ton of fun!! Pack your basic essential tools for cardmaking, some paper, cardstock. Pick out some stamps and inks to take along. If you want to throw a few embellishments into a box or bag to take along you can do that too or just add them when you get home. I always take WAYYYY too much stuff along, but oh well.....I do have fun!! And although I always go for the whole time allotted, you certainly don't have to. There are many ladies that come later and leave earlier so don't sweat it!! Just go and have a blast!!
OMGoodness......mental picture.....not a good one!!! LOL LOL LOL
LOLOLOLOL Well you know I can't drive so I would have to walk the streets (main streets) and do my waving. Wonder if I own any short skirts???? Hmmmmmmm

Donna, I'd love to be your first lip balm/candle customer!!!! You should totally open up a facebook store and sell your stuff. My DIL just purchased two tutu's from an on-line store. One for her daughter and one for her niece.
Thanks Yvonne, I think I packed too much also, but who cares. I just hope I can keep busy while I am there. I don't plan on staying the whole time, but I have to rely on a ride so who knows.

Oh your so kind. I have to wait til I get everything made tho. Get this, my 10 year old GD says she will set it up for me (because gma doesn't know how) And she has been itching to do it for me. I will probably be a little bit tho. But Thank You so much for saying that

I always go with the notion I'd rather have it along and not need it than to have forgotten to take it and need it.....lol. You'll have a blast.....really!! If you like to sit with friends and create then you'll be hooked! You learn so much from all the other ladies there....I always get up every once in a while and take a stroll around the room to see what everyone is working on and get ideas for myself. I hope you enjoy it as much!! Then again.....I could sit and create all day and be in heaven....lol

I'll wait till you have it set up......but I'm serious Donna!! I'd love to purchase some of your stuff!
I'm also finding out about the tutu's for you.....just waiting for her to message me back.

I'll tell him to be on the lookout for a hooker wearing a tutu and wearing lip balm! LOL
Lynn, I tried them both ways. You have to roll them through once or twice either way, and probably a sheet of CS on top of the sandwich would help. They really are gorgeous though!! There is a little "punch out" factor, but worth it if you aren't making a million.
Ok the Elusive Eraser Technique is actually a DRAWING technique that can be used in colouring with pencils, either watercolour or ordinary pencils.
Cover a hugs area with one colour.... then using an eraser, remove areas that are to be coloured with another colour or areas that need to be lightened for highlights...
I covered the entire card with yellow, followed by grey and black lightly, then down the page in darkening colours of ochre, orange, tan, red/brown, brown, dark brown and then black.... overlapping as I went and just lightly over the above colour each time... this gave me that background in watercolour pencils
Then I erased the horses and persons.... roughly, not detailed...then coloured them in as needed.
The tree trunk the same and coloured, the leaves (small and few) were just coloured over the background. Then here and there the eraser was moved gently over the page.
Then the whole card was dabbed with water on a cotton ball to set the colours.
Now you know. It really is a great way to cover with colour quickly

Lynn, I decided to try again, this time doing one die at a time. Much better. So much so that the pieces drop out on their own without having to punch them!

Well have just cleared my workspace but yet to do the die/cutting table.... then for the sewing table that I use for pushing everying onto that I am finished with.... could be a while before I am finished tidying.... bad me not cleaning my room before I leave it every time... I have a friend who does that, and punches her small scraps for her grandchildren... I don't think she makes a mess like I do..... but I have a way to go to get as messy as that talented Kristy girl who I did a course with, she was real special in the messes she could make....
My crafting space right now nearly needs a hazmat suit on to wade through it!!! I've got so many tubs and bags and tubs and bags of crafting supplies half packed, half unpacked from heading to the lake so many weekends.....it's time to de-contaminate the space!!! Let the purging begin!!! Oh boy.....wish me luck girls.....I'm going in!!!
Oh I hear you Yvonne, If I took a picture of my craft table, I would get hate mail from people right now. It is soooooo bad. Sometimes I wonder how I can even find room to make a card. Geez!!!!!
Joan you did an awesome job on your first ever Alphabet card. You have earned 7 pts for extra items and you get another 5 for having Lauren bring you in as her friend AND I am giving you an additional 5 for joining in on the chatter and what not that goes on in here. Oh by the way...whatever points you get...Lauren gets too. So Lauren Joan just earned you another 22 pts. I wish one of you guys was like me and never sleeps. I just got spooked pretty bad...I'd call ya on the phone. But the only ones that seem to be awake are those of you out of the US. I got so spooked I went and got my gun. It is sitting right in front of me. Anyways...I am going to give y'alla way to earn 10 points during the letter " E ". If you make a card using this week's Technique Tutorial "Eggshell Mosiac" I will give you 10 extra points. Also I have a dare I'd like to put out here:
MARNEY I DAREyou to make a card. The "E" Item I would like you to include is:EASTER. Do you accept my dare?
Dare me dare me
Dare me dare me
I need a kick to get moving...... still moving stuff around my room, sometimes I just like touching the things there it is like crafting in a way.... bad Lauren

I must be weird. I clean up after myself as I go so that when I am finished making a project I have only a few things to put away. Then I can get started on another. I get in trouble when I try doing more than 1 project at a time. If I don't watch that.....then my room looks like well a teenager's room. lol
