Hmm... do we have to use the letter "U" on the card? Or is this "used" challenge for any letter??

We have made a Exploding Box. waterfall card, a set of gift cards so far.... Now what???? Smash book???? Any brilliant ideas out there...?????
Look at this blog. They have SO many things on there - I love the things on this blog!! They give directions, and will answer your questions if you don't understand something.

Glad it helped!!

Sometimes it doesn't take long to mail to Australia. I've sent swap things to people in Canada at the same time as people in Australia - and the ones in Australia get their mail soonest, even though they are farther away!!

hahahaha, that's because we don't be as thorough at our customs as Canada is;...... never mind, we don't have the patience as the Canadians so we can't wait as long.

Well Miss Marion is going to Michaels, Janet she might buy us something and tell us all about the wool she is getting and what she is going to be doing with that wool.

And what sort of a promise is 'no gizmo's'......

I would never make a promise like that!!!

Lauren - if I'm not mistaken, I believe there is a special yarn that curls as you knit or crochet. Am I right Marion?

And I just left some love on your cards - they are SO neat!! How did you do the lace on the punched undies??

Hi ladies,

Great work on your cards, Lauren!!!

Janet, I didn't say it before, but thanks for sharing the video of your musical group performance. I love it! We have similar groups here in our city and I lovehearing them perform. In the summer my Mom and I go to weekly city band concerts in a park. At one of the concerts the Sweet Adelines always perform and they also sell homemade pie as a fundraiser for their travels to competitions. This is very popular in our city. Delicious and great music.

I am still not done with my U cards. Maybe today! I would love to see a photo of the scarves you have been making, Marion.

I like to knit and crochet a lot. That is probably why my cards aren't done.

I am working on 2 scarves and a baby blanket right now.

One of the scarves is with that Sashay yarn that makes the ruffles. This is the first one of these that I have made. I knitted it, but the next one I think I will crochet. For me this yarn, would be easier to work with using just the one hook instead of 2 needles.
Has anyone else made these ruffled scarves?

My days of knitting and crocheting are very limited, so I make cards. It is so nice to see handmade scarves, or anything handmade. I see around here that handmade sweaters are trying to make a come back.

Where is Dani? Is she getting better? I pray that she is.

Love all the U cards in the alpha419 gallery!

Yes, where is Dani? I pray she is okay.

Knit and crochet; only wish I could. The best I've ever done is a chain! I have done lace net darning...but I think it's a lost craft; I tried cross-stitch...finished one little project and that's it.

Not much going on with me today; finally headache went away, so that's a good thing!

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Jeri I have made the ruffled scarves and I see this year they have a different type yarn almost looks like stripes of fine fabric..Is that what you are using? I am experimenting with the cowl type scares this year. and have not found the right wool yet.( Maybe if I would follow a pattern it would help lol ) First one was to bulky to my liking.. the next fancier one, (crocheted) was better but would like it longer and so it goes.. My GD did one just plain knitting sewed the ends together and done..... Sorry that was sort of a long winded answer but there it is..lol Hope you all havae a great day.. I am off to Michaels.....

Ladies. Dani is having some things done this week - so I told her to take a rest & I'd be hostess this week!

Jeri - what size blanket are you making? I made a baby blanket for my great niece (who is now 2 years old) that was crocheted - starte off with 5 chain stitches, joined them, & made a granny square that got bigger & bigger - the finished blanket was a GIANT granny square (about 38 inches square)!

Marion - Right now I see Michael's , Joann's, and A.C.Moore are having sales / discounts on yarn. I may look some tomorrow before I go to a Bead Society meeting.

Right now, I'm making a sweater (size 18 months) for a little boy for Christmas. It is an Aran pattern - love the cables! I have to adapt the pattern to fit this sweater - is a little frustrating. Will work though.

I've got a beading class this afternoon - will be making an ornament. Should be interesting. Sorry - this ornament will be too big to scan & show you - it is a round ornament.

Janet,

Two months ago I made a baby blanket that sounds like your giant granny square. It was cream, pink and a mint green color. I ended up putting it in a "Baby girl" theme gift basket with a lot of baby things that was for a raffle at a school fundraiser.

The baby blanket I am working on now is about 34 inches square. It is a checkerboard pattern. Each square is about 2 inches. I am knitting it with 2 strands of yarn together. I only have about 3 inches left to do.

Below you can see the photos of the baby blanket pattern and the ruffled scarf.

Now that I have finished this scarf, I think I will go over to Michael's and get some more yarn so I can make some crochetted ruffled scarves.

I would love to see a photo of the sweater you are making.

Well I better get going so I can come back and make some cards!

Janet thanks for the love (and thanks to all others too)!!

The lace on the undies is made with scribbles of a gel pen!! I have loads of gel pens (from when everyone who scrapbooked had to have them to journal and doodle) So I finally get to use them on punchart!!!

Lauren - thanks for explaining how you did that lace!! I wondered if there was a punch that did that tiny scallop!!

I just got back from beading class - it was interesting, but FRUSTRATING!! We used size 15 beads ( are VERY tiny) - on the ornament. It was SO hard to do that ornament - I finally gave up!! Will work on some cards tonight...

WOW!! The work on that blanket you are making - it is SO pretty!! I don't know if I would have the patience to do that!! The woman who taught me to make the one like a Granny Square could make her blanket in just a few hours. It took me a LOT longer to make mine .

Lynn do you use glue more than adhesive? What kind of glue? I've not gotten in to using glue a lot. I mostly use tape and tombow adhesive.

Jeri, love the scarf!! I can't knit. I tried once. I can crochet a little, but haven't made anything in years. I'd rather make a card because it doesn't take as long! Every year at ladies retreat a couple of the ladies bring their knitting and work on it while we sit around and chat. If I tried to knit and talk I'd be ripping everything out all the time!

NAH - it depends on the pattern you used! I made a cap for my DH that was easy in stockinette - and it didn't take me long to make the cap!
It was one of those free patterns from Lion Brand yarn that I picked up when I got some yarn for the hat.

Here is the site where you can find a lot of free patterns (both knit & crochet) from Lion Brand:

Glue, tape glue tape.

I use tape for most cardmaking things.... but I use PVA or white glue a lot for embellishments and punchart (I find the 2 way glues come unstuck over time)

I also use Glossy Accents for some things. But with a drawer full of adhesives/tapes/glues I like the big roll double sided adhesive 1/4" tape with the backing that you have to remove is the best and PVA glue... they are my go tos.

Hi Ladies!!

My computer wouldn't work this AM - sorry I haven't been on sooner!!

Lynn - I understand! I won't use the tiny needles - I have to use size 6 or larger!

And as far as glue - I'm like you Lauren. I use a tape for my cards & basically scrapbooking. I use that red tape that is super sticky when I make things to put cards or other things in.
The tape I use the most is the ATG (Advanced Tape Glider) - I heard people on SCS say how well it worked, & I got it on sale. I LOVE how it is safe for photos! Only problem is the size of the ATG - it is SO big! I will take a Tombow tape dispenser with me when I go on a trip (I always pack some craft things to do while I'm on a trip in case I get bored).
