JCI -- I think I need to put my thinking cap on for January already. Luckily there aren't too many January events in my family!
Vikki -- it depends on the relative. I sent cards to my nieces and nephews all the time they were at home, and for the ones that keep in touch I still try, just not very good about doing it every year. Friends? DEFINITELY!
I think I would like to try this one too. It seems like I need birthday and lately sympathy cards. Need to get myself a stash of these and this should keep me on track!
I feel bad for excluding anyone from the family so yes, everyone receives birthday and holiday cards even if they've been "adrift" for some time.
I agree. Funny, I was just mulling this over last night. Then I came to the conclusion everyone's life is crazy - not just mine ::: gasp ::: and if getting one of my cards in the mail will improve their day somehow, then I've done what I set out to do. Ya know?
I have a very important b'day list in January. My mother, and her twin brother Jan. 4th.. their Aunt is turning 93 on the 3rd. One of my older sister's is 57 the 15th ( I love teasing her she is old enough to be my mom) a great nephew turns 1 whole year old on the 9thThis is the first year I send a card to my step son.. he's 19 and we just met him this year.
That makes 6 for family.. then my friends......
Do you girls send cards to nephews, nieces, Aunts and Uncles.....?
What about Cousins? Is there like an age where you just quit?
I don't think there's a cut off age. Everyone likes to know someone was thinking of them, ya know?

I have soooo many stalkers! hehe I've added you to the list Shelley.

I know, right? I don't know anyone who isn't at least a little bit touched when they receive a card on the mail. It means someone's thinking of them.

put me on the list - I never have birthday cards ready when I need them. Plus sympathy cards, anniversary cards, get well cards, thank you cards ... etc.
Put me down for 4 a month if you need a number.

Wow! I can really learn a lesson from you ladies about sending birthday cards. But if I sent them all home crafted cards, I wouldn't have time for work, or even family time! 63 first cousins still living, 4 brothers and their spouses and their 11 kids and some spouses, 33 in-laws on my ex husbands side of the family (lots of those are nephews and nieces), and my own three kids and 3 grandsons. How many is that? Around 123. Oops, I could have made a card in the time it took me to count them!

LOL And you know... A One Sheet Wonder (OSW) layout will take care of a ton at once! VikkiJo and I are doing a Valentine OSW in January. I'll post thread link in a bit.
hey, hey.. organization.. surely this could help!! Sign me up...
I'll be happy to host a challenge or two if you would like and will let me know the requirements!!
Hey Alison! I've added you to the list.
No requirements for the challenge. Just tell me which date(s) you'd like to sign up for. I'll try to send out a reminder about a week ahead of time. It can be a Sketch challenge/ color challenge or a technique. Just if you use a technique, link to a tute... just as if you were doing VSN

Hey Sue! Glad you followed me over here. No number necessary, but I will ask everyone to get a number in mind when they look at their coming month.

I know I'm going to need 4 birthday cards in January. And I still have my Christmas thank you notes to do, which I hope to do Monday . Between my Christmas Card Challenge quota and these, I think I'm going to be busy in January. My plan is to try to get my January birthdays out of the way before the new year then I can work on February's in January.
January should be easy for me (knock on wood) for birthday cards-I have 3 (but they all share the same day)-my husband, father in law and brother in law. But I'll have to get started on my kids Valentines cards. Older ds wants robots for his school friends and younger ds will get what I make. I am trying to convince older ds to give his friends book marks but was told that isn't cool.
I'm guessing it has to be my absolute biggest embarrassment as a "known" cardmaker ( in my family and circle of friends) that I do not mail out birthday cards hardly ever... I make them, and people i see in person get them hand delivered, but I very rarely if ever mail them ( and on time is like whats that? that was 20 years ago time...)
So, I think for my own personal challenge this would actually be a real challenge for me.
and I think I would like in this one too.
Im so unorganized about it all anymore I dont know how many i need for each month as of yet though.

Please sign me up for this challenge. This has been a problem for me this year. I have missed a few Birthdays - on time anyways- because I do not have the cards on hand.
Thanks
Jeannette

Stacy, we're just taking this one month at a time. You don't really have to have a number as a goal for each month because it's going to be different. The Christmas card challenge helped me a lot this year. I'm hoping this challenge will help, too.

Good plan, Debbie.
I'm planning on posting our first reminder on Monday... To think about any cards you might need for that first week in January so you can get them done and posted ASAP. I know the week between the holidays are hectic, but if you can do this now, you can do it all year long

So I guess I am on the hunt for robot stamps.
Studio G has a robot. And I think SU does as well. I have the STudio G one if you want some images, just PM me your address and I'll pop them in the mail.

Worry about organizing on Tuesday. (Hey, even most businesses have Monday off for the Christmas holiday hehe)
I'll post how mine are organized when I'm through catching up

Yeah.. I know, it's Christmas Eve and getting your card list organized for 2012 probably isn't on your list of things to do today. But you'll be here on Monday (okay, maybe Tuesday) for your Fix. I wanted something ready for you.
I have 2 card lists for Birthdays/ anniversaries.
(I have a totally separate list for Christmas Cards)
1) Family & Friends
2) Stamping Friends
I have a list for each by month that I keep in my dayplanner behind the appropriate month. I'm still a 'paper' kind of girl. If you are more computer organized, then DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOU. The important thing is to KNOW AHEAD OF TIME who you want to sends card to. Even if you only do it on a month by month basis.
For the FAMILY - I list them in chronological order by date and in ( ) after their name - the year they were born or married. This is especially important when it comes to kids. Heaven fordbid you send a juvenile card to a teenager. LOL
Most people have an address book. If you've not mailed something to someone in awhile, now is a good time to make sure the address you have is current. Why not give them a quick call to wish them Happy New year and update your address book.
For this week.. Focus on January. You have a couple weeks in January to work on your February list. Remember... Once you organize this, you're good to go for the rest of the time you intend to mail cards. Let's put this on track together!
I'll post pics in a couple minutes of my list and where I keep my cards.

Merry Christmas Kelly!!!
I have one list for birthday/anniversaries that I have in an Excel file. I have a formula that calculates the age (# of years for anniversaries) so all I have to do is print out the list at the beginning of the year and I leave it on my craft table. I need 4 birthday cards and 1 anniversary card for January.
In addition, I'm going to do one of the OSW's for Monday or Tuesday as I also will need 5 - 6 birthday cards for February as I signed up to be on the Birthday RAK this year and my first month will be February.

Kelly, I have birthdays/anniversaries in my planner also. It's quicker to find than booting up the computer. Besides, once the computer is up and running, I have a tendency to get sidetracked.

I inherited my mother's birthday calendar. It sits in a wooden holder and there is a separate sheet for each two months (one on each side) that are numbered with the days of the month. Mom already had all the family on the calendar, complete with the year everyone was born or married. I've just added my own friends. I do have a separate calendar that has all our church members on it, but I only send cards to the one's I know well or are shut-in. It's an old fashioned way, but it works for me, as I can see at a glance all the events for the month. Two birthdays and one anniversary for January for me.
