Ina, I'm having a hard time finding time to do the projects I have to finish. I'm still trying to get the 100+ thank you notes written. I let DH design and print the notes again this year.
I've never been to a hobby lobby, my DIL takes me to joanns and michaels as they are nearby, I can spend enough in those two shops, DH was in hospital near there and I could see them from his hospital room. I did find out that we can catch a bus from their house to michaels though!!
I hope people realise all the work you and your DH do Debbie, I know what its its like, my husband does all the printing for our football supporters group, they say, oh we need 300 programmes Steve, I'm sure they don't appreciate that we then spend all afternoon, DH printing and me on cutting and folding.

Jan, I don't think we'd be doing this year after year if all our hard work isn't appreciated. People who have attended the event for the first time are overwhelmed with the number of people who attend. As far as doing the personal thank you notes, that's what keeps the businesses donating year after year. We have had a couple businesses tell us they quit donating to everyone who asks because they never get a thank you and have mentioned our thank you notes. I believe if you ask someone to give you money or raffle prizes you should show your appreciation. We even get businesses donating to us who always turn down others.
Our work is done to keep the supporters club running, we raise money by selling shirts, hats etc to help sponsor the football team, usually the president gets a big company to come in to help financially but times are hard, this year we are helping him To find small companies to sponsor our team by advertising at the ground.
Our event is much easier to deal with than what you are doing, Jan. We have a free barbecue for our community on Independence Day and have some local bands come and play. The bands volunteer their time. The biggest expense if the food. We keep it simple - burgers, hot dogs, canned beans, potato chips, watermelon and soda pop. We also buy a bunch of small toys from Oriental Trading Company to hand out to the kids. Everything is purchased with donations.
Hey gang!
Just stopping in first and foremost to apologize. July has been the absolute busiest month I have had in a very long time. Thank goodness I don't see it repeating in August. I'm so ready to just play! On my own time!
That said, Bob and I are running away from home for the last 2 days of the month. I will be back on Wednesday. We'll close out July and get August started on the right foot.
We still have plenty of spots open for challenge sign-ups.
Thank you for your patience.
HugS!

Go you! I don't care how 'politically correct' this world becomes, nothing replaces good manners and proper etiquette.
I know this is a couple days late. I'm finally getting the threads caught up here.
VikkiJo had signed up for the Aug 1 Challenge spot but we all know that isn't going to happen for awhile. She is on fewer pain meds and pinned together. Now if we can just get her healed up....
Like Sympathy cards, we always seem to need Get Well cards but never have any on hand. Let's see if we can add one or two to our stash!
Oh wait.... you thought this would be easy, didn't you?
Make a Get Well card using the Color Combo Challenge (CC386)
PLEASE remember to use BOTH Keywords when posting... theirs first.
It just happens I need to make a get well card. One of our Library Foundation board members just had surgery to take of a bulge on his artery. A very scary operation but it came out better than they hoped. Being a retired doctor, he knew there was a good chance he wouldn't survive it. He has been our biggest advocate with the board on getting us more public computers. He's also the one member who spends a lot of time in our library.

Can't wait to see your card, Debbie. And we know he'll appreciate it. Sending lots of positive energy his way.
I can't wait to see the card, too. I need to get busy. I wish someone would come and clean off my desk to give me some motivation to work on my projects. I'm in a time crunch now. I love the extra hours at work, but I really do miss my 3-day weekends. Of course, if I would just spend a lot less time on this computer I could get a lot done.
Motivation is my issue this week too, even though there have been so very many great DTGD challenges. Lots of inspiration there, just not too much motivation!
I have to spend the next couple days finishing the guest book I'm working on. Sunday and Monday is my weekend. The book has to be done by Wednesday. I'm kind of glad it isn't finished yet since I've been coming up more ideas to put in it. I'm trying to come with things that will remind my boss of her years with us at the library. I'm pretty sure I'll get interrupted a lot the next couple days. My son found a place to rent and has to be moved out of his old place by Tuesday. So guess who will probably be helping him move. Thankfully, he doesn't have too much stuff. I'll get pictures of the book posted sometime next week.

Yep... I knew we were running behind and didn't realize you'd already asked Ina. Should have texted me hehe. I put it up. Wish I could fix your 'happy' too. My nephew accuses me of being to F*%# happy. LOL Maybe I'm happy enough for both of us?
I know today is the 15th. With in-laws here I didn't get the chance to PM Luly G sooner. If she isn't able to post, VikkiJo said she's up to filling in. There will be a challenge by Friday at the latest.

Ina had PM'd me.. I seriously forgot all about it.
The guys had to rearrange my room. I had a note with the dates and ideas on it. Not a clue where that even is.
There is so much drama here, aside from my arm issues.
Our neighbor and his gf got into a fight and she come running down here. Sheriff came and lots of blah blah blah
she's been here since Aug 2nd with her 4 yr old
this child has diminished all happy I had built up
she is never told no, never taught respect and has very limited manners
I've been on the phone and she will come in and start talking to me, o matter what I say to her
well a few days ago i blew, that child now listens when I speak
then I came in my room room here with my ice pack. had my eyes closed just meditating. The mom comes here and starts talking to me about all the stuff that's old news. I finally got up and went in the bath room closed the door and and just sat in there for half hour!
Clint feels like he owes her for helping us out with the car awhile back (okay fine) just STAY AWAY from me! LOL
She was s'posed to get an apartment last week , but the money her brother sent got sent back. he put the wrong number on the fed ex thing.
I told her if he'd used UPS it would have come right here. I work for one of their companies and the driver knows me well. My name is not that common and there are only 4 people living on Birch Bark Road
Bu the money come yesterday the plan was to move her today.. it's raining !
SO very long story short... I am even more depressed now and have a hard time finding my 'Care About That' Spot
so when it pops up I take advantage... thus posted Sept Challenge so its done just in case
As for your Too f****** Happy, LOL wish it could be bottled and shared!
Oh! Guess what I finally found.. Folgers Caramel Drizzle! Out store finally carries it!
Now to find that recipe for the chocolate part again! Post it here?????

Oh and.. I heard Karla telling CLint about how I talked to Samantha.
Oh her arm must really be bothering her, she yelled at S.
Clint said, that I was very strict with my kids
Karla said kids don't have a good future if treated that way
My DS Joe was here and he said "No, my mom has Zero tolerance for kids that act like her. If we had ever talked to her the way your kid talks to you we'd been chasing our eyeballs down the street. And I have respect for adults, and never threw tantrums when mom talked to other ppl"
Karla was talking to Clint's dad about using his truck and trailer to move and S came over and was mom mom mom, pulling at her clothes then just jumped up and wrapped her arms on her neck HOLD ME! '
Karla started crying cuz it hurt her back, but not one word to the kid.
I think she is older than that, she is in Kindergarten net month
VikkiJo, you do have a lot of baggage right now. Too many people take advantage of a good heart. There is a limit as to paying someone back. It can be over done. Hope things get smoothed out soon so you can concentrate more on your health.
My apologies to people who have lovable kids & grandkids, but it's kids like Vikki Jo's neighbor that make me dislike being around kids in general. I have no patience with yelling, screaming, disrespect, etc. I don't even have much patience with well-behaved kids who are just having fun, acting like kids, and making noise. I'm an old grouch. There is one time of the year that you won't find me at church - and that's during Vacation Bible School.
I have other good qualities. I'll leave being around kids to others.
All that said, I sympathize and empathize with you Vikki Jo. My patience is so thin that I have 3 levels of response with kids: 1. The "evil eye" glare; 2. Yelling (using not-nice words) at them; and 3. the temptation to swat them. Thankfully, I've never made it to stage 3.

My physical therapist recommends I have a deep tissue massage for my arm and shoulder and neck.
Work comp says the surgeon has to ask for it....
but i paid for 1, it was so nice for about 2 hours afterward. if I do it again I think i will spend that 2 hours making cards! LOL
I can cut now, stamping still hurts, writing too
Clint was going to cut me some card bases, I bought that new stamp Tweet Leaves. I so wanna play with it! The sample in the Holiday Catty is so lovely!

LOL Val! Yep exactly. My kids always told their friends when I had "the look' it was time to chill out!
I am known as the Grouch! LOL
but the kids friends have always came to me for advice on how to talk about things with thier parents.
Sometimes 'd even go over and get he talk started. Always worked out nicely.
I am the same way at work too.. everyone is afraid of the boss.. not me!
I am straight forward and as he puts it I am brash and bold.
i keep nothing in.. secrets too! lOL
Boss says there are 3 forms of communication, Telefax, Telephone and Tell Victoria!
Well the sun may be coming out hopefully they can get moved today!! Cross fingers for me!!
Val, I'm at work now (library) and I've had to have a "talk" with some kids already. Some kids drive me up a wall and others are so sweet. I don't put up with their shennanigans. I have one driving me nuts right now. There's a couple boys who keep going in and out. I'm ready to scream. They don't know how to walk. I'm the mean librarian today. I've had worse days.
I must admit I always had a problem with other people's kids, we were very strict with ours, my DH was in the military so our boys were treated like his men! we were criticised for being too strict but at family weddings everyone always commented on what polite boys we had, now they are good sons, polite, loving and respectful to us, the youngest a good husband and great dad, my two sisters kids were horrors but now they are paying the price, disrespectful kids and big problems.
Our grandson is four and has lovely manners, very loving nature, little devil sometimes but takes after his dad!!
