Where can I report someone who crapped out on a swap? I'm so disappointed about this and want to pass along what happened so she doesn't do this to anyone else.

There is a sticky in this forum that says "Need Swap Help? Contact a Moderator". Here is a link.
Need Swap Help? Contact a Moderator

You can send a PM with the details to any of the swap mods listed there.

Default big shot swap?

Just wanted to know if there was anyone hosting a big shot swap. Swapping Stampin' Up! die cuts to make a resource book. And if there isn't, would there be people interested?

Some would prefer you to wait until the swaps have been received back so it doesn't ruin the suprize for the other participants. Others don't mind. If your hostess doesn't specifically say, you could ask the other participants if they mind.

Did you check the Everything Else swap forum and the Products one. If there aren't any listed you could try and start one to see if there is any interest. Are you an SU! demo? There might be one going in the SU! demo swap forum.

Completely new to the idea of swapping. What does "NVR" mean?

Non Vendor Restricted. Meaning you can use stamps, paper, etc. from any company.

In the hostess 101 it states this:

"Please Note: Swaps can ONLY be started by members that have more than 25 posts."

What does this mean?

You'll have to make 25 posts on the site before you will be able to start a thread to hostess your own swap. So if you want to hostess, start posting.

PM is a private message. If you click on their name by their post it should give you the option to PM that person.

I am thinking I want to hostess my first swap and wondered if there is a post anywhere or if anyone has any suggestions as to how to organize the swaps as they arrive in the mail. Also, how do you split them up? I want to make sure I don't send someone back a card they made. I would appreciate some organizational tips.

I haven't seen any post out there like that. The hostess 101 thread mentions keeping them safe when they arrive, that kind of thing.

I would put them all together in one box and update the thread as they are coming in. When the deadline comes I would just put them all in piles around my ottoman and go around with each person's baggie picking up a card to make sure that everyone got what they were supposed to.

I know I have read somewhere how to add my swap name to my signature, but I can't find where the directions are. Is this the right thread to ask this question? If not, could someone point me in the right direction??? If so, would you lead me to the post with this info? Thanks so much!

Suzanne,
Here is the link to edit your signature. It is found under "help", in the top right hand corner of your screen. If you are still having difficulties, please don't hesitate to come back and ask or send me a PM.

Another swapping question. I've seen folks advertise, they use the term "pimping", their swap in other swap threads they have joined. Is that considered okay? I don't want to do it if it's not the "polite" way to advertise, but would love to get the word out to a broader audience. thanks!

I would check with the hostess of the swap you are posting in first to see if they mind.

Post Why all the specification with postage?

I ship from a postal center not the USPS office. When I was trying to post and return post all my stuff last week, they kept asking why I wanted regular postage stamps for the return postage. I told him that was a rule and I explained that many people said that metered postage wasn't acceptable and that it expires, etc.

The postage that they put on my packages is electronically generated and not considered 'metered mail', and is equivalent to regular postage stamps. It's just more accurate since it doesn't have to be in 47 cent increments. So, if my package cost $1.78 to send to the hostess, I can put that exact $1.78 on my return envelope and then include 2 regular postage stamps in case the return weight is different (on swapped images one postage stamp really should be sufficient, but most list 2 as a default, I think).

So, can we not just say that this type of postage is okay? It's not the same as metered postage, from what I understand. Metered postage is still only good for that same day it is printed, I think. But electronically generated postage is different, and should be acceptable.

What say you (collective you)?

As a hostess, I have received that type of postage and had no problems regarding their return. If you are planning on using that type of postage (which I think is fine) contact the hostess via a PM and let her know that you are using the printed stamps option. I don't think they will have an issue, and many will have already experienced that type of postage from previous swaps. As long as you include the extra regular stamps, you should be fine.

As far as listing that type of postage in the swap directions, most hostesses just cut & paste that information, and it's never been specifically included before - to my knowledge, anyway. If you have any reservations or questions, just PM the individual hostess to check with her before you send.

Default Length of time for a swap

I was wondering how much time do you have to make your cards. I know that it takes about a week to get my supplies from SU.
Thanks, Kelli

It depends on the swap you sign up for. Check the due date when you sign up.

I recently signed up for the "feeling warm and fuzzy" card swap and I had to pm the hostess in order to become part of it. I completed all the requirements for becoming part of a swap group, but I still am unable to post or reply in the thread. Is it because I have not been approved and this function has not be allowed as of yet? What do I have to do now?

You were in our pending approvals. I check them daily, as does most of the other swap mods, but it looks like you just did it. I approved you. You should be able to post now.

Ok, so don't laugh. I am now a member of swap hostesses and participants. Now what do I do to start swapping cards? I had tried to join a swap yesterday without joining a group and it wouldn't let me join the swap. I'm so confused.

Michelle, after several attempts I am not able to post in swaps. I have completed the personal information questionnaire and sent messages to the moderators, and I am not able to post. I would like to join a couple of swaps and now I am coming to you.

Please help!

Thank you - Bryson!

Hello Bryson,

It doesn't look like you completed Step 2 of the process where you request to join the swap group. Until you do that you are not showing in our pending applicants list where we can approve you.

You need to click on Join a Group in the box on the left of the screen. There you will be able to select the swap group and request to join it.
