When I clicked on someone's name I noticed that the "send a PM feature" is no longer there. Now it is only send a visitor message. Do people need to be "friends" to exchange PM's now ?

I just clicked on several people's names and they all come up without a PM feature just a "visitors message " feature and I can read all visitor messages sent to them

I just tried this, and when I was logged in, I could send a PM. Then, I tried logging out and clicking on your name Barbara Jay, and I got the visitor message thing you mentioned, but couldn't send a PM to you. I could see the visitor message for you. Double check to see if you're logged in.

On the screen shot you showed, if you click on the "send message" tab under the user's profile picture, you should get a drop down menu with the option to private message.
I am logged in and I tired clicking on the "send message" under Tamijo's picture and I do NOT get a drop down for a PM.
I just tried all of your names and don't get it either.
I think a mod needs to check why I am experiencing this issue and not anyone else.
It concerns me since people put their home addresses for B/S/T and if they end up in the visitors message feature anyone can read them. That would be the mother lode for spam senders

When I click on someone's picture to send a PM all I get is " send visitors message. I can also read all of that person's visitors messages.
I asked about this on a thread under General Stamping" and others don't seem to have this problem
I was told if I click on the " send message" under a person's picture on the Visitors section I should get a drop down to send a PM but I do not get that.
Please advise

Barbara Jay- i don't click on pictures- I click on a name. For example- you don't have a picture so I have no way to send you a pm but to click on your name. When you do the name it brings a drop down box.
hmm... I never even got a notification that I had a message- I didn't even realize I had one in there who knows what's going on this weekend.
I did click on the names, but there was no send a PM. Someone said when I get the " send a visitor message" if I click under the picture ( is there is one) I should get a drop down to offer the choice of a PM. I did not get that either .
I have always been able to just click on a name to send a PM.
I posted a note on the Site Technical Problems and hopefully the Mods will sort this out

I hope you get your problem with the PMs sorted soon, Barbara.
On the Visitor Messages, ever since that option was introduced they have always been public, and there has never been a way of being notified if someone had left you one. You just have to check yourself, so it's normal that Tamijo didn't get anything.
I think that's why most people still prefer to use PMs.

"Send Message" Is just above Visitor messages - our formatting is funky this weekend so it's a little smaller than normal. Nothing has changed. I do what Tami does too - I click the name and do send Private Message, but you can do it from either screen.
Visitor messages have always been public.
If you don't see "send private message" under "send message" that means that person has elected not to receive PMs. For example, click on Tami's avatar and you will see that option. But on some people you may not.
