I hadn't heard that about the Precision base plate. I've been using it for all my intricate dies since 2015. The only thing I ever heard was that you can run only the very intricate dies thru it, never the frame dies, where there is no middle, such as rectangles
circles, squares, and outline only dies. Guess I've been really lucky.
Thanks for pointing this out. I'll be watchful from now on. Lynne

Maybe everyone else is using it incorrectly! If you've been having no problems (and good results) with it for years.....

I'll start a thread about it and see if I can get some other people to chime in about it. Thanks for mentioning it, sewcrafty28! ;)!

according to popular opinion the adaptor plate makes all the dif in the world. according to his videos, you still need a jiggle the paper after using the plate. so is the plate worth it? or should i just pile on tape on top of the center of the die, where the cutting is faintest? ty!

Oh, I'm starting to think this question is one that belongs in the "What's the best glue" category. As many opinions as people, and no one is wrong, it's just what works for you.

Certainly shimming a trouble spot is a smart solution. I've done the dumb thing of just piling CS on top of a die with only a single bad area, and then being frustrated when it didn't help.

I use a metal Cheery Lynn adaptor plate. If that doesn't work, I'll add thin CS or copy paper or washi, etc., just on the spots that aren't cutting.

But sometimes a die is just tough, and even feels less sharp than others. I brought two of my fave background dies to my LSS to try them on their Big Shots after fighting with them on my Cuttlebug, which usually cuts anything. The owner got the identical poor results that I did trying many solutions.

ETA - Cheery Lynn videos are on this page, just scroll down. But I noticed they have a video about another product called a Hot Spot Helper which explains why sometimes we have those tough spots. Interesting looking at the guts of a Big Shot. : )

Excuse my last post; I somehow missed that this thread had a page 1. : ) But I'm going to buy the Hot Spot Helper; it's certainly inexpensive enough, even though it puts me in mind of Hamburger Helper.
