Whoo hoo!! My BF, soon to be husband, made me some new B plates!! He's a machinist, basically can build anything out of any material.... and he made me 4 new B plates. I'm set for awhile!! They work GREAT!

I'll ask him. It seems to be the same material, clear, sort of plexiglass looking. But he said it isn't plexiglass because that would break very easily.
I'll let you know...

That's great that he was able to make them! I'm always impressed when our BF/DH are ingenious when it comes to making things for us to use. I've stocked up B plates with 40-50% off coupons for Michaels. So far I haven't had any break or crack yet.
The only thing about using your own materials for this.. It might void the warranty on the Bug. Kind of like using generic ink cartridges voids your printer's warranty.

Someone on here said to use the 50% off coupon from Joann's at Michael's and get the Cuttlebug. Well, last evening I tried it and it worked. Michael's sells the Cuttlebug at $79.99 and that made it $40.00 with the coupon. I am on cloud nine! Not only did I finally get the Cuttlebug, I got it at a great price! I recommend anyone who is thinking about buying a Cuttlebug, to try doing this. It will definitely save you money.
I then left Michael's and went to AC Moore, who is having 40% off on all cuttlebugs & accessories. Bought all the embossing folders at $2.99 each, regular $4.99, and several of the smaller dies which were regular $4.99, also at $2.99. Stuff like this makes me a happy ol' soul!
I did all this at the Huntington, WV mall area. Just a heads up for anyone in my area wanting to try the same thing. Good Luck!
OK, I'm so jealous! Michael's here does NOT accept their own 40% coupons for Cuttlebug (or Cricut either).
Here's wishing you loads of fun die-cutting and embossing

You need to bring your cell phone with to the store and call the Michael's headquarters at their toll free number to ask if you can use a 40% off coupon on the Cuttlebug. Then hand the phone to the cashier or manager.
The coupon only excludes Cricut products. Cricut and Cuttlebug are both made by Provo Craft. The Cuttlebug is not a Cricut product.

thanks for the help here, I was able to use my 40% coupon at my M's for my bug and didn't have a problem i'm going to keep their 800 number close though in case of other problesms My DH went there and saves $75 on a cricut

With using the new sizzix templates you can use them in cuttlebug. Just use the A plate and get the starter kit first for the fact it has the mats for them in it. So enjoy your cuttlebug a little more with the sizzix templates.
Warning though... With some it won't be pressed down as much as the cuttlebug embossing plates.

All can be used in the cuddlebug. They should have directions in the box. Check those first then go to Jo-ann if the quickkutz don't work there is a sizzix adapter in a package of 5 or 6. I will check with my sister that has them.
All can be used with Big Shot but they stopped making those.
My first choice is Cuddlebug. And if all end fail get a pink or purple or black quickkutz hand tool. Because sometime you don't want to drag all sorts of stuff out for just one little die cut. Also at wal-mart there is a neat suit-case that fits the cuttlebug.
Thank you! One more thing! Does the cuddlebug use just one size die cut templets or do they all fit. Even the larger die cuts?
Thanks again, Bridgit

Hi Bridget! The Cuttlebug is the most versatile of the machines and most economical (IMO). Here is a comparison to check out and see if this helps you at all... http://www.allthatscraps.com/index.p...bc22891ab9ae6f
They give a break down of all the specs for each machine. Good luck!
P.S. I just bought one two weeks ago and used it for the first time tonight - I really like it so far, but I didn't own any of the other machines.

I know, its a lot of pages to read through, but everything you want to know and more you will find reading this entire thread.
It's what made me decide on the Cuttlebug and I dont regret it. I have sizzix dies and they work wonderful on the bug.
The embossing folders are my favorite things about using this machine.
That and the adorable shade of green =)
I have some info concerning the Cuttlebug and folders! Our local Hobby Lobby just got it in this past week, and I believe all Hobby Lobby's will have them. The people there thought that the 40% off coupon would be accepted on them. There was a way they could tell by the hanging tags. It didn't have something that the Cricut tags do have, leading them to that theory! They are originally $80.00. The basic card front folders were running about $4.99 each. I ordered my cuttlebug from CreativeXpress.com. It was $49.00. A friend of mine ordered one too, so we split the shipping of $8.00. WalMarts are starting to carry them as well, and their price is dropping. One week was 69.99, the next 64.99, and most recent I believe was 62.99. Their folders are the best price I've seen and that was 3.97 each. With tax (9.25%) that makes it 4.35. Morethanink.com has a huge selection of folders and their price was 4.40 with no shipping or tax. I ordered a bunch on a Mon. nite, late and they arrived on my doorstep Fri. morning! My cuttlebug from Creativexpress.com arrived in one week!
Good luck ladies, and happy embossing!

I just bought a machine last night at Hobby Lobby. It was priced $79.99 and I used the 40% off coupon without question. I am looking forward to getting more embossing folders since I only have one right now.
Thanks for creating this thread. I'm so glad I saw the link on Amysings post in the convention threads.
Inconsistency makes me sooooo sad. Last week my Hobby Lobby accepted any competitors coupons and yesterday, they informed me that they accept only Michaels and not Joann's coupons. Then today I was buying a set of Cuttlebug die cuts ($12.99) and presented a Hobby Lobby coupon. After talking to a host of managers, they said they simply could not accept their own coupon because the Cuttlebug dies were a Cricut product! (all the while looking at me like I was crazy)... They informed me it was a company mandate and not unique to their store. Anyone else heard this? I'll be calling the corporate office on Monday but won't be surprised if they tell me that policy is up to each individual store. (The Michaels in our town learned a very valuable lesson after making folks jump through hoops to use coupons -- they ultimately lost all of the diehard crafters when Hobby Lobby came to town. We've been in love with HL but ours appears to be going through a management change that is not particularly crafter friendly. Michaels at this point is bending over backwards to woo lost customers back....this will be interesting.)
It is NOT a company mandate that they not take coupons for Cuttlebug. Cuttlebug is a ProvoCraft product, not a Cricut product. I went round and round with a cashier at Michael's awhile back. I emailed Michael's corporate and they apologized all over the place, saying Cuttlebug is NOT a Cricut product. Good luck with HL corporate. I wish to heck they would stop putting on top of the Cuttlebug boxes " from the creators of Cricut". I think that's what confuses these cashiers and managers.
I just received 8 embossing folders from CrazyScraps today - BIG THUMBS up to them. I ordered on Wednesday morning (less than $4 apiece to boot!), and now they are in my hot little hands! If you spend over $50, it's free shipping - but even if it's less, shipping was less than $6 I believe. Not bad at all, IMHO....
LOVE THE BUG!!! -June
I just love it! I had to make a giftcard holder for a friend,
and I just had to try it!!!! I had it in the box for the last 2 wks, because I was moving to my new craft space, and finally, got it out of the box.
I love it, and now I have to have more embossing folders and some of the dies!
I have to try it w/ my sizzix dies, and I will probably never lug that heavy red thing out again!!
I was convinced after I read the threads here,
so thanks for educating me,
it will save me sooooo much time when making cards,
Amy, thanks for linking this in my thread about the Cricut v. Cuttle Bug. There's so much info here, I haven't read it all yet but I will - it's very helpful. I'm hoping to ask for one for Christmas, or just pick one up in the fall. I'm very interested in embossing the cardstock for my cards, so the Cuttle Bug might be the one for me.
Thanks!!

You're welcome! Starting in October, Michael's usually has coupons more often, and it makes it easier to pick up a Bug at a good price. Good luck with your decision!
Anyone try the CB photo corner die?? I am debating buying it or the SU photo corner punch, but if they look similar, I may just get the CB one! (sale for around $5 vs. $16)
If anyone has the die cut, tell us how you like it!

I rolled one of my alphas through the cuttlebug the wrong way, foam down. Now it's warped. :( I rolled it through again the right way and it cuts alright, but it's still warped. Will it straighten out with correct usage over time?

The one I messed up has *mostly* straightened out. :-) But it still works fine. Don't worry! And now, I never forget to turn them the right way. LOL
I am trying to make invitations for my daughter's wedding (lots of time - it's not until next April). I want to find some sort of paper punch or die cutter that will cut a small seashell or starfish out of the top of the invitation so I can layer it over a different colored piece of cardstock. Will the Cuttlebug work for that purpose?
I just bought my cuttlebug at HL and didn't have any problems with the 40% off coupon. I was really worried after reading some of the other posts, but she just looked at it and didn't say a thing. Good luck to you all who are having problems but I think it is just an education thing.

just bumping this question, I am wondering the same thing...
Has anyone seen the price on the new storage case Provo Craft is coming out with for Cuttlebug dies, etc? It looks really neat, like a little suitcase. I am just wondering how much it will cost.
Also, I asked, both by email and phone if the new Cuttlekids dies will work with the regular Cuttlebug, and was told yes. But the Cuttlekids has more pressure, so in the Cuttlebug, you will have to put the dies on the edge of the plates, not in the middle. I am excited, because there are some cute dies and alphas!
