Default Buying sequins from China

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had experience with buying craft embellishments from eBay or more specifically from Chinese sellers selling on eBay.. I was looking recently and saw sequins on sale. you can get a large variety of colours, shapes and sizes for a very inexpensive price. I was just wondering if anyone had experience with this. how to know whether they are low-quality or high-quality or if it makes a difference with these types of things. They had many types of craft embellishment type things. Anyone with experience or advice I would appreciate hearing your experiences. Thanks!

Can't comment on sequins and such, but I have been buying some of the very cheap cutting dies from China. The quality is exactly the same as the 'big name' brands, just at a fraction of the cost. I recently bought 4 and an embossing folder for less than I'd pay for one die. Shipping was pretty fast to the UK too, so I'd say try some and see. Blog post on the dies HERE.

Default I never even thought of dies

Wow I never even considered that. I definitely have to check that out. Are you sourcing them through eBay as well? Thanks for your advice!

Yes, they are on E-Bay. If you put 'cutting dies from China' in the search bar, you should get a lot come up. There is a thread on here where others have been buying them, and are happy with the quality.

I too have many many of the dies from China sold on Ebay and they are awesome quality. It takes awhile to get them but they are well worth the wait and your wallet will rejoice!

I've started buying some jewelry from a seller (who lists as in Hong Kong but my stuff all comes from Malaysia). It's really nice for really, really, REALLY cheap. I've only had one situation where the product wasn't as advertised (the sizing was off) but honestly, the stuff was SO cheap that I just re-purchased in the next size up rather than try to communicate with a seller who might not understand me.

My only concern for any of it (jewelry or dies or other embellishments) would be if you have small children in your house who like to put things in their mouth, just in case of lead in the product.

I don't have any kids around, so I'm not concerned about it.

Default I took the plunge

Well I went to investigate and ended up with dies instead of sequins . I watched some YouTube videos and people seem to be very happy with the quality. So I bought some. I also got some awesome stencils for CAN $1.30 and embossing folders for around CAN $2.30.

I definitely going to pick up some sequins and investigate other items that might be good for crafting. I am ok with waiting. With the great pricing and the free shipping it can't be beat.

One thing though is that most of the sellers have the same stock so it is worth while to do some comparison. Prices can vary wildly. For instance one seller had a die for $5 another had the exact same die for $1.30. Same for stencils and embossing folders.

Thanks for the advice everyone!
