I have some of the Distress paints that the dauber has quit working. I do keep them standing upright on my desk, am I supposed to wash them out each time I use them?
I made quite a mess the other night from squeezing the bottle to hard, the top came off and I had paint everywhere...:(
My Distress Paint haven't stopped and I don't wash them out. I do have a package of replacement tops but I haven't had to use one. Do you shake them well before use?
Yes I do, the sponge in the top seems to be completely gummed up and sticky. I make sure the caps are on tight when I finish using them. I may order replacement tops and see if I maybe got a bad batch of tops.
I stopped using any of the Ranger paints with dauber tops because the would dry out and it was hard to get them started again. I tried washing them after each use but it was a pain. In fact it I haven't had good luck with any brand of dauber tops. I just use a paint brush and pallet for paints as it's more reliable and easier clean-up.

The old Adirondack dabbers were a pain. The formula and design of Distress Paints is totally different.
I agree with Vic. I would absolutely call Ranger. I use those paints alot and the sponge tops have never gummed up or dried out like the Adirondack Paints as has already been mentioned.
I did have a problem with removing the top. Boy! I had spun sugar all over my table. I wish Ranger would redesign that top since it seems to be a common problem, CALL RANGER! They should know. Also, can you return them to where it was purchased?
Good luck. Don't give up on these paints. They were formulated to please!
I bought some replacement tops from Joann's. I also found at Tuesday morning these lovely little bottles that look like TH's distress paint bottles. They are made by Tulip that I believe makes fabric paint. They were like .99 cents fro 3 bottles. I snagged up a bunch, because I figured I could thin some acrylic paint a bit and use them the same.
I got 3 replacement toppers from Joann's for only a couple of dollars.
I bought some of the paints when they first came out. I obviously do not know the trick to keep them flowing. Or the area I live in is just to dry. Seemed like I could only get one or two good uses out of them them they would dry and clog up. Hoping you ladies have some tips.
I've never had an issue with them drying out, I guess that I'm lucky. I've had issues with over working the sponge dauber. I think that they should make the foam topper a bit better. I use the black one a lot and well I've destroyed the top, hence needing the extra tops that I got from Joann's.
Thanks Ladies! I am going to call Ranger and ask what is to be done about them. I really love Distress paints but I won't use them much if they are going to be a pain to get out.
Ranger customer service are awesome! They replaced a broken top on some ink refills I bought. I took a picture of the broken top emailed them the picture and they sent out a replacement.
