Holiday crafting season is here! I love to work on projects this time of year!
Last week, I went to the Country Living Fair in Columbus, OH, and I was blown away by all the talented crafters out there. So inspiring! I purchased a new stash of patterns and supplies to start working on some punch needle projects. I'm also inspired to take on a few simple sewing projects now.
It got me wondering...are there any other SCSers out there who are working on other non-paper craft related projects this time of year? If so, I'd love to hear what you are making!
I'm doing cross stitched, silk ribbon embroidery and charted needlepoint Christmas ornaments; I start in Jan. since I make 15, all different for my family and friends. I personalize each one with their name and year and my list keeps growing as my extended family has more children! Some years they are very intricate and the next year very simple. Some are beaded, have charms, buttons, ribbons. Some are done on perforated paper instead of linen or aida or other fabrics.
I've been knitting & crocheting like a mad woman for the last couple months. I bought another knitting machine a couple weeks ago and am just trying to figure out where to set it up so I can start cranking out the Christmas presents.

Catwoman,
What kind of knitting machines do you have?
Which one do you use the most?
I have the Bond hobby knitting machine and it can be frustrating to use. But once I sort of get in the groove it's fairly easy. I only use it sporadically and probably if I used it more frequently I wouldn't have such a learning curve each time.
What do you love the most about your "go-to" machine?

I am working on making some felt ornaments decorated with beads sewn on. Some of the ornaments have been diecut using dies eg: trees, which makes things easier. My 11 yo daughter has caught the loom band bug so I have been learning how to do it too and making some loom band bracelets to give as Christmas presents.

I bought a Silver Reed LK150. I got it dirt cheap off kijiji. I also bought a Empisal Knitmaster 700 cheaper than dirt off kijiji. I can use the knitmaster, but the ribber is missing the carriage, so I'll have to see what I can find on ebay to get it so I can use the ribber. I also have a Bond that I love and have used for about 30 years now. I think its an excellent machine and so easy to use. The Bond is my go to machine right now since the others are new to me, but I'm looking forward to being able to have a couple different projects in different weights of yarn going.
I love to loom knit around the holiday times. I love my sewing projects. I will always love cross-stitch. I am going to be doing a lot of resin, polymer clay & beading projects this Holiday season. I like to do a lot of smaller projects around the holiday time. I almost forgot I make a lot of beauty products and candy.
Columbus!!?? Really??? I'm in Ohio...NE Ohio! I've really been wanting to get back to crocheting and plan to do that once life slows down a bit. I have vacation in October and I think I'll get a project underway then for sure. I have a couple friends who are pregnant right now and I would love to make them afghans!

I have a bond sweater machine too. I actually like it. I just keep a steady pace and I'm all good with it.
I did have a brother kh910. It was brand new and had never been used. I had the mylar sheets everything. It still had stuff shrink wrapped. I just didn't want to take the time to learn it. I got back what I put into it and stuck with what I know.
I also make jewelry for Christmas gifts too. I wire wrap gems, stones and such. I also make Polymer clay stuff too.
I love the holiday crafting season too.
I have family members I cross stitch ornaments for every year. I do tend to start those early in the year (sometimes January), so I can work on them when I feel like it. I genrally start Christmas card making around August. I usually do some fancyish baking. I do stitch or crochet gifts some years.
This year I think I am going to make myself some of those pinecones that use the styrofoam eggs and scrapbook paper.
