Default New digital camera needed! Suggestions please!

I'm in need of a new digital camera as my current one is ready for retirement!! It is sucking the batteries down faster then I can replace them!! The camera I currently have is a Cannon Power Shot A560. I'm looking for one that has decent megapixels as well as a decent zoom lens. Also something that is small/slim so I can just put it in my purse.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your help,
Connie

If you post this query in the Photography section here on SCS (there's a link to the current challenge over there in my signature which will help get you there) you might get more response. I was going to post this suggestion yesterday but I left it because I thought people might chime in here. I see they haven't!!
You'll also find a few other threads in the photography section where people have asked for recommendations, so you could check those out.

Sabrina, thanks so much for the tip! I will see if I can find it and post there! If not, I will be calling upon you to post for me if that's ok. ;)

Thanks again,
Connie

Got it Sabrina! I didn't realize about the photography section, I usually don't scroll that far down! Guess I need to pay more attention!

Feel free to delete this post in "tool & product talk" if need be!

Thank-you again for the suggestion, I appreciate it!

Hi,
I don't know how good a camera you are looking for, but some of the new phones have good cameras in them....particularly if you pair it with a decent photo app. We've been an iphone family, but but my DH just got a Samsung Galaxy 4S and the camera is amazing. It's 13 megapixels and I could see a huge improvement in the shots he emailed me. The flash is brighter than my Canon digital camera.

Just a thought.

I've had good luck with Canon PowerShots.

The only cameras I've ever owned have been Canon PowerShots, both film and digital. I've stuck with them in part because their pretty consistent with the dials and features. But, and its a BIG but, I'm not a very good photographer so I may be more easily satisfied with the camera and picture quality than many people.
