We're down to 3 chickens. We lost 2 when they were very young to the heat last summer. Then one a couple months ago to a critter who enjoyed a chicken dinner on us, and the 4th just disappeared one day a few weeks back. :( We are hoping to get a few more maybe next Spring. We LOVE our fresh eggs!
We got 70 chickens 4 weeks ago... 50 meat chicken and 20 laying... what a mess... but we sure will enjoy the healthy meat!
I have The Boys (2 dogs) someone can have. They have been harassing each other all day. Wrestling like a couple of little kids.
They are under my chair right now going at each other as I try to read and keep up.
Sure! Sounds like a party! :-) You really need to make some!
We picked some blackberries (wild, too??) the other week and froze them, but not enough to make jelly. The bugs and critters seem to get to them before we can.

WOW!! Now that's a lot of chickens!!! I don't think I could handle that many...and although I am sure the meat is wonderful, I couldn't eat them if I owned them. :(

Wow!!! We had a bunch of chickens when I was growing up. Us kids got to bring in the eggs. We didn't much like that job, as there were a few hens who did NOT want to give us their eggs. We quickly learned which ones needed to be avoided if you didn't want to be pecked...

I've got one dog asleep on the floor in the living room, and the other one is lolling back on the couch looking out the window. Pretty sure she is waiting for some unsuspecting person to walk by so she can bark at them. ;)

Hubby and my oldest son take good care of them... I grew up raising and eating our own animals so I have no problem with that.
We didn't want that many, but the friend who was ordering them misundersood us and got a bit carried away with the numbers... oh, well... cound't send those poor little chicks back! They came through the mail... image that... and they all survived!

That sounds like The Boys! They terrorize anyone who walks pass the house. But if you let them outside they shake like a leaf on the tree.

Love blackberries too. I miss living where berries grow wild! They are so expensive to buy! And of course... I've never seen vine berries for sale anywhere.
As for the July release... Loving it all so far!!! :-)
There is a small chance (small, but still a chance) our next assignment will be back in PA - IF hubby gets a job teaching the ROTC attachment at Penn State. He put in for it so we will see where we get assigned next summer. I know it isn't super close to you, but it is closer than I am now, LOL!! At least it is in Pennsylvania!
I have no pets... too many allergies in the family... Now you know why I am a bird crazy lady who has 7 feeders in her yard!
We have LOVED our first bird feeder! We've seen so many wonderful birds!! Lots of squirrels too, but we've...uh...kinda convinced them that they aren't wanted. (They eat too much!!)

Birds are so much fun to watch! I like having those kind of 'pets'. No mess inside!
It gives me such joy to watch them fluttering about the feeders as I craft... not that I have done enough crafting lately :(
We have a black oil sunflower seed feeder and a nyjer sock - I used to get tons of goldfinches but fear the house finches scared them away. Only one cardinal and one chickadee (my favorite birdie) have visited. I don't get the flocks of beautiful, colorful birdies that Stephanie does.

That's not too far from where I grew up in central PA.
There is something about barking from behind a window and actually coming face to face with that strange thing in the outside world!
LOL! They are funny to watch. I have seen grown men back up after ringing the door bell and then they actually see who is making the noise and burst out laughing. Houston is a Tri-paw and he really acts like he's going to eat people alive.
Hi, I just made it in. I usually can't make these because we are Itinerant Ministers and on the road all the time but happened to be here tonight. I am excited to be here. I see another Cathy so I will sign mine Cathy K Hugs, Cathy K

Oh the squirrels and I have a love hate relationship... This summer I just keep my garden hose on and the min. they jump on the feeders I turn it on and hose them down, they can't stand being wet.. All I have to do now is turn it on and they run... mean I know but they suck all the food out of the feeders cept for the squirrel proof one.
