SU Tabletop cutter

Hi there My guillotine <sp?> bit the dust and it's time to get a new one. I looked at the Purple Cow one and saw bad reviews so now I am wondering about the SU one. I had a fairly cheap one and absolutely loved it while it lasted. I then bought an inexpensive Xacto one but there are a few things I don't care for...Wondering if the SU one has same mechanics...here is what I don't like:

Don't like that the arm does not stay up on it's own. I have to hold the arm up and move my paper at the same time and I'm just not that coordinated!!

Don't like that the paper does not slide well under the little plastic thing that keeps it flat (what is that stinkin' thing called? It holds the paper flat...)

Not all that easy to cut 12x12 because of the whole arm and coordination thing

Won't cut really thin cuts...just sort of "folds" them under the arm/blade

Really like my Tonic full size cutter.

The arm stays up so you can place your paper at the right measurement

I hold my paper as I draw the guillotine blade down so the paper guard holds it in place

It is easy to slide the paper under the guard because there is a little 'play' space

Can cut slivers pf paper cleanly (when drawing the cutting arm down, push the arm toward the metal strip at the base. Tis also helps keep the blade sharp.)

Have had it about 4-5 yrs and continue to get nice clean cuts.

The SU! guillotine cutter will address all of your issues and do it well.

As for the 12x12 cutting, if you have the space, just leave the arm set out all the time.

Thanks! I watched a few videos last night and I think the SU one might be a good choice. I figure if I use my hostess dollars then I can use them like a coupon And since I don't have a coupon for the Tonic one (which I have heard great reviews on!) I think I might just take the plunge

I have used the SU one as a demo since they came out. Is that 5 years or so? I cut a LOT of workshops and can't believe it is still going! And the fact that I have never had to replace a blade is really crazy!

Well, I ordered it!! Hostess dollars did not work quite the way I had thought but I ended up getting an additional $25 in product so it was still a fun little shopping spree!!! (I had thought I could take $25 off my total order). I am lucky enough to live close to where SU ships from so my stuff usually arrives the very next day! I can't wait to play

I think the SU one is made by Tonic, so you'll have the same great qualtiy!
