Default ATG Question

After reading so many comments about how everyone loves their ATG, I'm considering buying one with my Mike's 40% coupon. My question is which do most of you prefer, the 1/2 inch or 1/4 inch tape width? Or can you use both size tapes on one dispenser?

I have the red 714 ATG. (spray painted it celery green with Krylon spray paint for plastic). It only holds the 1/4" tape. The yellow one holds 1/2" tape or with an adapter 1/4" tape.

I know it looks BIG but it is well engineered. There is a learning curve but not too long than, hopefully, you will wonder how you crafted without it. The tape rolls are soooo much more economical than the small tape runners or the Glue Glider refills. (Their rolls are usually listed in inches.) Last time I ordered for my ATG, it cost me $1.27/per 36 ft roll!

You can only use the 1/4" tape with the gun that Michaels sells. That width is really good for cards and papercrafts, and the tape is very sticky and holds well. I think the 1/2" tape is more for stuff like framing, etc.

I love, love my ATG. There is a slight learning curve to get used to using it, but I'll bet you will love it too.

Some people use coupons and buy their tape refills at Mikes. I prefer to order online from a shop at ebay called Tape Depot. I get 12 rolls at a time and don't have to worry about making any late night trips to buy more adhesive.

I just use the 1/4" I have two guns because I love it so much and got my second one at Michaels at 50% off--such a great deal that I got it in case I broke my red expensive one. You will love it I promise.

That is so funny! I did that same thing. I have the red one that I bought first, and then picked up the second one at Michaels with a 50% coupon to be sure I will have a spare. Great minds.
