Hello fellow scrappers! Hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend and maybe fit in some scrappy time! We're here to begin the September challenge! Ready??
Dont know what a Progressive Challenge is? Go here to learn.
PLEASE NOTE! Although this is in the digiscrap threads, anyone is welcome to play--whether they're a digi, paper or hybrid scrapper. Just as the digiscrappers sometimes have to change up the instructions a little to fit their digi needs when doing a traditional challenge, the "traditional" scrappers might have to improvise on some of the digi techniques. It should make things interesting!
PROGRESSIVE CHALLENGE #4 TASK 1 (SEPT. 2012)
Well be using 1 or 2 photos for this challenge and were adding them in this task!
-You might want to start off by selecting a kit that has several coordinating papers you like that will complement your photo(s).
-Open a new document and add a background paper, solid or patternedonly a little will show.
-Add one or two more layers on top, each one slightly smaller than the last, finishing with a lighter, neutral color. It is IMPORTANT that you only have a small border of each paper showing (each approx. or less), since well need the open space of the top layer for Task 2.
-If desired, lightly ink the edges or add an overlay or grungy edge. Reduce the opacity so the effect is muted and just adds a little interest to the neutral paper.
-Add your one or two photos. Frame one or both, if desired. Keep them slightly towards the left side of the page but not too high or low.
-Place a rectangle of solid or patterned paper as a sort of mat behind the larger photo. Make it so the mat is under the left side of the photo and only extends about halfway behind the photo.
This completes your mission for this week! NOW UPLOAD:
- Remember to first save your page in its original version to maintain your layers, so you'll be able to make changes/additions in Task 2.
- Save your page for the web as a .jpg (600x600 or less) & upload to the Challenge 4-Task 1 Gallery by adding the keyword DGSCPR004Task1 when you upload. Please also post this weeks work in this thread.
Reminder: When uploading your page to your gallery, on the Gallery Image Upload Page, choose the category Scrapbooking/ Digital Scrapping rather than Scrapbooking/Progressive Pages, since that Progressive Pages refers to a method of scrapping different from our progressive challenge.
Done!
Thank you so much for these! I'm sure they require a lot of thought on your part! I'm becoming permanently attached to my laptop now!
When I went to post a pic of dd's 1st day of Grade 12, I ended up creating a digipage for it. It's just so easy now! I needed these to get past my creative block!

You are very welcome! I'm glad you and several others seem to be enjoying the challenges. I don't mind the work getting them together as long as I know people are enjoying them!
I look forward to seeing everyone's take on task 2 on Tuesday. So far, all the pages are looking great and all different!
This looks very intriguing and fun!! Not that I need anymore reasons to get on my computer, but I am definitely going to have to play!!!
I think you'll enjoy them. I got hooked on progressive challenges a while back on another site and decided we needed to have some of our own here on SCS too. I look forward to seeing your work!! Come and join us!
I discovered the progressive challenge last month and had such fun!! Thanks Wendy, having a look at my photos so I can pick which ones and play along again.
lol. I am up to my ears getting an auction ready for next weekend...I need all the days I can find. Can't let it be Tuesday yet...!!! But, I'm glad you're looking forward to the next task!
Good morning ladies. I am ready (again) for some digi challenges. The progressive challenges look like a lot of fun. Finished one but waiting for image approval. Love all the work you have done!
It's so hard to wait an ENTIRE WEEK for the next part of the challenge.
I'd much rather do this than ...
... housework
... dishes
... all those other things I "should" be doing!
Yay, got the first task done before the next one was posted. I noticed there is a bit of a pink theme in the gallery :-)
Using only 1 or 2 photos is starting with a challenge for me! I always have lots of photos so only 2 isn't very many! Loving the progressive challenge, cant wait for the next bit, hopefully I've left enough room this time!
when my kids were little i had tons of pictures. now i am just very particular about saving a pic. i do not have nearly enough picture of my grown kids.
but soon it will be the xmas photo time: first trying to gather everyone in the same state for a photo and then trying to get 4 people and three dogs, to look at the camera and look kinda decent for one photo! and my great dane/rottie mix is terrified at having his picture taken. the whole scene is a comedy skit!
I have tons of photos and always will. I'm a photo hoarder! My family is glad that I am, since I've become the family historian by default! lol
I usually like to use lots of pics too, but one of the fun things about the progressive challenge is the unknown! Plus, it's only one page out of a month, so I figure I can "splurge" doing a page with less! I usually make up for it in embellishments!

I used to have an English Springer Spaniel who was afraid of cameras, but after he realized I'd give him a treat after each photo, he turned into a camera hog! lol
I know it's November and I'm just tackling this September challenge, but life has been busy around here. (Good-type of busy...) It's finally slowing down now, so here's my Grad page. Off to tackle task #2 now.
