I didn't. I was totally excited to tell EVERYONE what you wonderful girls decided to do for me, but then I figured that was like inviting people to your own party and seemed wrong in some way....hmmm, that's not worded correctly, but you know what I mean.
I'm actually surprised at who has found their way here (and how quickly, in some cases) and am humbled and honored to see old friends, new friends, swap friends, wish rak friends....it's so nice!
Every one of you who signs up makes me smile. Makes my day!!
I'm not sure what's up with today...whether it's something I ate or what, but baby's TOTALLY active today. I spent more time in our office meeting watching my wiggling belly than listening to what was going on.
Maybe he/she's trying to figure out how to get turned around in there. I told DH it was dance central....Soul Train, featuring Baby B!

Heather! You and I have so much in common with our pregnancies! I found out Fri that Peanut is also still breech! Also already 6 lbs 2oz so I don't think the Dr thinks baby will turn! That was the diabetes Dr. I see my OB today and we'll have the c-section discussion. Not even here and already a "problem child"! lol

Don't panic over the thought of having to have a C section. I had 2 and the first was an emergency, not planned. It scared the crap out of me when they said C-section since my mother had one with my younger brother, and "couldn't move or do anything for like 6 months" - which was more complaining than truth. Anyways, I had no problem and even liked the fact my repeat C was scheduled for the 2nd child so I knew when I needed a sitter! lol Around here they do the bikini cut and you can have a regular delivery after that. My cut was up and down so I couldn't deliver natural after that. It's much better to be prepared than to have it thrown at u suddenly when you are in labor. I'm sure everything will be fine!!
I have a feeling baby has turned. We think the shape of my stomach has changed a bit (less "shelf") and I'm getting quite a bit more movement in the upper half of my stomach, including the "leaning" that he/she used to do against my lower belly.
No way to know for sure until Monday when the dr does another U/S, but I'm thinking good thoughts and hoping that's the case.
Good morning ladies! Hope those babies are are letting you have a little comfort today.
Heather, just in case I've missed anything, can you tell me the colors you prefer for baby? And you do not know the gender, right? Are there any particular things you would love LOVE love to receive, it blankies, clothes, etc?
Thanks! And sorry if I'm making you repeat yourself... :-)
We don't know gender, so clothing wise, I have lots of greens, yellows and whites. I don't object to blue and pinks but it seems like manufacturers go to the extremes....let's make it blue and load it with dump truck images. Or frilly butterflies on a pink suit. I did buy one pair of adorable blue cammo pants that I plan to pair with a cute pink shirt if it's a girl.
My main pattern inspiration fabric for baby's room is posted in the first post. We've gone with a safari theme and the room is being painted a light yellow (almost matches the pattern background exactly).
As for non-crafty gift ideas....hmmm...one of the things that is pretty important to me is reading. I always like to put a book in baby gifts I send. I've got a couple of my childhood favorites already picked out, but it's always nice to see what other people fondly remember from their childhood (Dr. Suess, Robert Muncsch, etc). Only thing I ask in this regard is to avoid overly religious themes, as this is not prevalent in our home.
My mom is a sewer and has piled me up with receiving blankets (but really, can you ever have too many?), but "general" blankets (knitted, fleece, quilted) I am definitely short on. Also, I'm on the eye out for cute knitted sweaters, hats, socks, booties, etc.
But really, whatever! The generosity of everyone here is amazing and I'll be grateful for anything!

My Grandma always said that first babies can come anytime, but all the rest take 9 months. I believe that was the way the older generation dealt with unwed pregnancies. They would get married quickly and the baby was always early!

No, No, No! Just tell me if you think the package is thick enough to have a double sided fleece blanket that's car seat size in it! I know the stuff I bought that went in it, but to be honest I don't even remember what I packaged it in! I'm completely losing my mind!
Thanks to Christina for asking Heather the kinds of non-crafty items she would like--really helpful to a first-time online shower attendee like me!
Also, since this is my first time Virtual Baby Shower, I would love for others to share some crafty ideas with me. You don't have to give away your bestest idea that you are going to use, but I really need some help. What kinds of crafty, handmade items did you do for the other gal (Toni?)?? I appreciate any help, ladies! I do have a few ideas, but not sure I'm on the right track. Thanks!
Duh, okay, ladies, like I said, it IS my first ever Virtual Baby Shower. But I did find Toni's baby shower thread (even though I don't know Toni, NOW I feel like I do! And Congratulations to Toni on her new baby girl! I saw that she delivered yesterday morning!) Anyway, I did get a few ideas over there, but you ladies are welcome to share any others for those of us who might also be "virtual shower virgins".!!;)
ATTENTION ALL SHOWERERS!
Please check to be sure I have your name on the main post.
Also, be sure to send me your mailing address if you haven't already -- by PM please.
I hope to get those party cards/favors out in the mail next week.
I'm keeping them as flat as possible for the purpose of mailing!!!
Also, if you need Heather's mailing address, PM me and I'll get it to you!!!
Because Heather is in Canada, my thought is to keep things small and flat if I can.
Past showers varied including scrapbook pages and books/booklets, hand made crocheted and quilted blankets, fun store bought goodies and gifts too. It really just varies on what you want to make or send and the momma wants/needs!
Some we have been discussing on here are the 4"x6" size scrapbooking accent pages that fit in the albums to go along with pics, the 12x12 size pages to be put in frames, safari/jungle theme goodies, etc.
Susan, thanks for all the tips! The ideas I had were pretty much in line with what you told me, so I've already started to work on a couple. I appreciate the help. Now I just hope that I will be off work that night!!
Popping in to check on Heather. How you doin' kiddo? Glad to see the Crafty Gals here. I knew they wouldn't want to miss it :-)
Meh.
I have a cold. It has attached itself to me and won't let go.
Actually, considering not being able to take meds, I'm not doing too badly. Stayed home yesterday and slept half the day. Stayed home again today, but haven't slept very much at all. I think just avoiding the freezing temperatures outdoors and being in my own space is helping. I think I'll be able to drag my butt into work tomorrow.
Pregnancy wise, everything is fine. I hear at this point one just can't wait for it to be over! Me? I'd rather the cold go away!!!

Well, I have your package all ready to go and I didn't take pics! My bad! Anyways, it's on it's way to the post office now. At least I won't have to bug Susan to upload the pics on the shower day since my internet is so slow! lol
I made a card yesterday that I ended up liking quite a lot. I have all my parts, just need to get them packaged and to the PO but that will probably happen next week.
Glad you have a distraction, Heather. Just wish it wasn't the ailing kind. Be careful tomorrow. How much longer before you start your maternity leave?
I'm waiting for an order to arrive then it won't take me long to put it together.
I mailed a package to Alberta this morning about the same size and weight cost $13. So that wasn't too bad.
