I think I need to join too - I started in June 2011 and was still doing them right up to the wire. Please put me down for 12 a month - I should do more but I think that will challenge me enough. Thank you for a great idea to help us stay on track. Janine
I've added you to the list Janine. Please PM me your snail mail for future prize opportunities. Thanks!

Hi everyone! I have set a personal monthly goal, and Christmas cards are included, so I thought this challenge would be great to join. I want to do at least 6 Christmas cards each month.
I've added you to the list, Krista! Huggles

HI have added you to the list. I apologize for it taking me a couple days. I'm still battling this horrid head cold. Please PM me your snail mail for future prize opportunities. Thanks!
Been to the Dr. yet??? This is sure taking a long time to clear up...
Hello Vikki,
I would like to sign up for the 2012 Christmas Card Challenge! I typically send out about 250 and am always frantic at the end. This year I would like to have them all in the mail the day after Thanksgiving! I have already made the parts for 20 cards so I think 20 is my goal for each month.
I hope I'm not too late!

Not Vikki - but her tag team member, Kelly.
250? Holy Reindeer! That's a lot of cards. Planning ahead is a definite must.
I've added you to my list and the database, Angela. Please PM me your snail mail for future prize opportunities :-)

Kelly, was it you or VikkiJo who used gum arabic and pear ex to make a shimmery kind of paint? I tried it with one color many months ago but can't remember the ratio.

That was me, Debbie. About a 1 tsp of GA to 1/4 tsp Pearl Ex.
After posting that, I did see you can get the paints pre-made in SELECT colors. You'll find them in the art dept at Michaels and HL.

Pansy, that's your choice! If you want to make all the same cards for the whole 11 months of the challenge, I'm sure that will be fine.....just as long as you make them and have them to send out for Christmas. This challenge is for YOU! So that you will have enough cards to send out and take the stress out of last minute card making.
Some people make all different cards, but I usually end up making 4 (this year) of the same cards this month and then next month have a different pattern and make 4 of them. Your choice.

Thanks Kelly. Since I live over 100 miles from Michaels and 250 miles from a HL, I'll have to make my own. It's more fun that way. However, we have to make a trip for a doctor's appointment, so I'll be able to check out Michaels next week. However, I'm really trying hard not buy anything new until I use up what I have. I found some Radiant Pearls I had stashed away and forgot about. I bought them on ebay a few years back. Never used them. I will have to get them out and play with them.
Pansy, I always make 4 (or whatever my goal is) of the same for one month and different design for each month. I just might mix it up this year. Whatever works for you. Like Ina said, it's just to help you get your cards finished before December.
Ok I'm signing up please! Signed up for the 2010 club but never got my cards done. :( I'm determined to do it this year and on time. Can't wait to see everyone's work. Merry Christmas!
Good evening everyone!
Winter is here again in MN. We have had lots of pleasant warm days so far, but that changed today. It is very icy out, there is snow on the ground, and the wind is blowing! Well, we knew it would come sooner or later. Actually I do love winter, but it is kind of a shock to the system!

Enjoy...I'm hoping we get some snow this year....it has been unseasonably warm here. A far cry from last year. In 2011 by this time, we had 2 or 3 major snow storms...nothing yet this year... :(

I not only had to send out boxed cards for 2011, I have.... well bought boxed cards for 2012 as well.
I do hope to still make my cards as well. The boxed cards I bought - well, they were 70% off at Cabela's and DH loved them. I can send them to his friends

Hmmm, I haven't tried (or seen) baby oil gel. I didn't like how plain baby oil worked. I just use odorless mineral spirits and like that the best. I'll have to look for some of that baby oil gel.

LOL You must have missed that post Roxane :-) Please pm yours.

And cheaper, too, if you already have everything. I ran out of gum arabic and still have 5 colors I want to mix up. My local craft store didn't have any, either. It's going to be almost 2 weeks before they'll get it. I'm half tempted to ask my neighbor if she has any. That's a new concept: borrow art supplies instead of baking supplies. I think I can be patient for a little while.
