Two shoe box swaps, a regular swap, super cleaning the house for guests at the end of the week (my mother), laundry, cub scouts Halloween parade, my daughters volleyball game 1 1/2 away in Wilmington....oh and my new job and all my regular responsibilities.....how will I accomplish any of the HYCCT11 challenges now.

HOORAY! I mailed off my first group of cards to Anderson! WOO HOO! (Shipping wasn't nearly as bad as I imagined either - less than $2!)
Now to catch up on the challenges so I can mail out MORE!

Yay! We must have used the same size envie - I think my first one was $1.58!
I'll share my recipe from tonight for you guys - it's an old, easy fave.
1 C. rice
2 Cans Campbell's Golden Mushroom soup
1 Can Campbell's Cream of Mushroom soup
1 Can Campbell's French Onion Soup
1 Can with half milk, half Half n Half
Link Sausage or chicken breasts, or a cut up chicken
Mix everything but the meat in a casserole dish. Add sliced sausage (I like spicy sausage - like Opa's or something similar) or chicken - bone in or out - whatever you like. Mix together. Cook uncovered at 350 for 75 minutes or until rice & meat are cooked.
It's DELICIOUS, great left over and freezes well.

tonight I MUST focus n sketching out ideas for the challenges. I'm horribly behind. Bt I have so much to do this week. House cleaning as always, party prep and I'm gone overnight friday (SPA!!!!!) I need to clean up the courtyard and put away all the garden that has died off.
I will definitely need the massage I'm getting on Friday.

Oh, I have been there so many times! But that is why I love these challenges - they help me come up with ideas a lot quicker than if I just go up to my stamp room and say "I need to make a birthday card". Challenges give me ideas! Hope you lose the funk soon!!

Hey ladies! I haven't been on at all this time and haven't made a single card for this challenge yet. I just read through them all and am going to try to get at least a few done the next two weeks. And, for any of you who remember me from last year, this is why I haven't participated yet. She's a week old today.

Thank you! We like her.
I'm going to look through my cards and send some, too. Are there any rules besides no religious sentiments? Not sure what I have by way of general/friendship cards but there are bound to be a few!

Beautiful little girl. I miss babies! My youngest turned 9 in August and my youngest boy turned 11 yesterday and is already almost my height (5 '6"). They still like to snuggle, but I know the day is coming soon when that won't be so cool. I always tell moms to enjoy the phase they're in with their kids. Each phase has its blessings and of course the challenges!!!! I hear so many moms "can't wait"-ing for the time when they don't have to deal with ________ but not realizing that at some point they'll be missing the other, better parts of that phase of their kids' lives.
I'm almost done painting my bathroom so maybe I'll get yesterday's and today's cards done this afternoon. I had a piece of dp from a scrapbooking kit called Heritage (I think) that looks so cool that I always wanted to do a wall treatment like it and now I finally am!!! I'll try to put some pictures up later because it is really looking nice. We live in a parsonage and I'm so grateful to the church board for paying to renovate 2 bathrooms for us! They were functional before, but not so lovely.;

BTW, my 73 yo mom who is in her 7th month of battling breast cancer was here to visit for a couple of days. She is doing well and is so thankful to all who have prayed for her over these months. She has finished her chemo and will start radiation on the 25th. So thanks to all who've made nice comments on the cards where I mentioned her and who've sent prayers up for her.

I don't think I knew about this. I'll be keeping your mom in my thoughts. Would you ask her if it's alright that I add her name to the shirt I wear when I cross the finishline next July?

$2 is good. I've just been using the Priority vhs size Box. Cost is $5 -something for postage, but at least I know it should get there in 3 days and the box is really sturdy and free!! And I can fit a week's worth of cards in the box without fear they will get smushed.

I am getting further and further behind as my life is getting in the way of my stamping! Doing each challenge might not work out for me but I'll keep plugging along. I really am having a ball with it.
I am going on a scrapbook retreat (3 whole days - wine, women and scrapping LOL) in three weeks. I am the world's SLOWEST scrapper, plus I seldom scrap at home. I don't know why - just don't. So I have been working on the same set of vacation pics for the last year. We go to two crops a year and I've brought these same photos to the last two crops. I really wanted to get them done so I could bring different stuff to this crop. Really, people make fun of me!! But I'm having such fun making these cards that I'm reluctant to stop.
Such big problems, eh? Scrap or stamp?? I am so lucky!!!!!
But right now I'm going outside to put a garden to bed...

Hi Paula, lovely to see you and your beautiful little bundle of joy.
Today's the first day I haven't managed to make a card - I've sneezed my way through three-quarters of a box of mansize tissues, and I don't think I really want to drip on a card, LOL. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have had time to come to terms with purple . Although actually it's what constitutes an encouraging card that's harder.

I hear you about life. Oh that darned life LOL
I'm thinking I might pack some things to work on while I"m away at the spa. I did sketch out card ideas last night for a majority of what I'm behind on so I feel better now. But finding the time to get them actually made...whole nother story '-)

Victoria -- a spa sounds fabulous today! I used heavier weights at the gym today and then dug perennials out of my garden this afternoon - my arms feel like noodles ;-)
And for the cold sufferers -- feel better soon!

I need a massage. Badly.
Here's what I'm making right now and it smells SO good!
Pumpkin Rice
This brown rice dish, cooked with pured pumpkin and vegetable broth, yields creamy, risotto-like results.
Ingredients
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 white or yellow onion, chopped
2 cups uncooked brown basmati rice
1 (15-ounce) can pumpkin pure
6 cups low-sodium chicken or vegetable broth
3 bay leaves
Salt and pepper to taste
Method
In a large pot, heat oil over medium heat. Add onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and translucent, 7 to 8 minutes. Add rice and stir to coat with oil. Toast rice, stirring often, until fragrant, 3 to 4 minutes more. Meanwhile, whisk together pumpkin pure and broth in a large bowl.
Stir broth mixture and bay leaves into pot, season with salt and pepper and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium low, cover and cook, stirring occasionally to keep rice from sticking to the bottom of the pot, until liquid is absorbed and rice is cooked through and creamy, about 45 minutes. Transfer to a bowl and serve immediately.
Nutrition
Per serving (about 9oz/269g-wt.): 210 calories (60 from fat), 6g total fat, 1g saturated fat, 5mg cholesterol, 540mg sodium, 36g total carbohydrate (4g dietary fiber, 3g sugar), 5g protein
