FS238 {08/28/2011} Forget About Strawberry Fields Forever!
It's all about blueberry fields forever and UNDERSTAND BLUE! It's high time we pay homage to Splitcoast Stampers terrific Community Manager, Lydia Fiedler!
You can check out Lydia's understandably wonderful gallery HERE that's packed with some amazing inspiration! Lydia's style is fabulously clean and simple, and you have almost 1000 cards to choose from! This is one gallery you'll be going back to time and time again to browse through.
We'd love to have you play along with us today. Please remember to upload only new projects. We want you to get your craft on with us!
I used Lydia's Orange You Glad card and made my A Delightful Thank You card.
Be sure to check out all of the fun at the FS238 GALLERY!
Just an FYI: I'm going to be hostessing this challenge for the next couple of months, which was preplanned anyway before Beth took her family vacation and you'd see her back around the end of October or so. Just a few days ago, her husband and daughter were in a tragic para-sailing accident. Her husband was first paralyzed but he's moving his extremities now. Her daughter has severe facial lacerations. It's going to be a long road of recovery, but Beth asks for your prayers for her family and so do I. She does keep her Facebook updated. She's doing as well as can be expected and she knows that God is her strength and refuge. I'm just praising the Lord that Todd is now moving his legs. He is in excruciating pain. Her daughter was able to open one of her eyes slightly today. That is all of the information that I have from her personally.
If there's a BRAK coordinator reading this or somebody can let a BRAK coordinator know what's going on, I know that Beth would love to see your cards. Don't forget to send cards to her husband and daughter too!
HOW DO I PLAY?:
Go to the Featured Stamper's gallery and CASE a card, following these simple CASEing Guidelines:
1. Change 2 or more things on the Featured Stamper's project. It could be a color combo, embellishments, backgrounds, or even the main image could be different -- but similar because you don't own the exact image. Please list the changes you made in your description.
2. Give credit to the original stamper and put a link to the original card in your description.
3. Fan Club members may upload today (Sunday). Non-Fan Club members are encouraged to play, but please wait until Monday to upload your creations to give our volunteer moderators a day off. This is so much appreciated.
4. Please note the following regarding Sketch Challenge cards: If you are keeping the same layout but changing most everything else on the featured stamper's card, make sure it isn't a sketch challenge card (SC###). The reason is because it is essentially is a CASE of the sketch since it isn't the Featured Stamper's original idea. Sketch challenges include Mojo Sketches, Design Team Sketch Challenges, and Blog Sketch Challenges, etc. Please be sure to check the keywords!
UPLOADING DIRECTIONS:
1. Keyword FS238.
2. In the Details Section of your card, please describe the changes you have made, give credit to the Featured Stamper, and link her card. Fill in the products that you used in the blanks provided so that others can CASE your card too! Please do not link back to your personal blog.
If you are new to challenges, please feel free to this one or ANY of the challenges at any time. There is no time limit. They are not races to see who can do one first, nor are they contests of any sort. All the challenges are simply to provide inspiration and to get you stamping!
NEED HELP LINKING A CARD? FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Open 2 windows. One for your card, one for the this thread.
2. In this thread, click on reply and type what you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window, highlight the address for your card. (The address bar will say www.splitcoaststampers.....).
4. Click edit. Click Copy.
5. Go back to this thread. Click Paste.

Julie - it's funny - I really don't think of myself as a CAS stamper - I sit around and drool over the CAS wizards like Karen and Birgit and all the people in the CAS challenge every week.
But I will tell you really the only design tip that I use every single time I make a card that *I* like - my happy place is when there is maximum contrast between my focal image and my background. So this is usually a complementary color mix - blue and orange is my fave - or a super saturated color on a neutral background. I also like a big background to image ratio. Those are the kinds of cards that make me happy.
