TLC301 Faux Tile Background (11/29/10)
Hello everyone! Holly asked me to fill in today and I'm so excited to be your hostess for this challenge!
I'm sure there are probably some different versions of faux tile, but for this one, I added a couple of twists. Please check out my complete tutorial for this: Faux Tile Background
For my first sample, I followed the tutorial exactly.
Poinsettia Tile
For my second sample, I changed things up a bit by embossing the "grout" lines.
Ornament Tile
Please remember to put TLC301 in your keywords when you upload.

Thanks and have fun!

This challenge was so much fun. I learned something new doing this technique that I thought I would pass along. I found out that if I covered the score lines with a white prisma colored pencil, the wax in the pencil helped keep the "Grout" in the tile white. Here is my card. WoW!!!!
Such a cool technique! Thanks for the tutorial Julie!
I goofed a little on my card. I got sooo excited about trying it that I didn't pay attention to the "background" part of the challenge. Give me fifty lashes with a wet noodle if you want but I am playing along anyhow! ;) tehehehe!
Here is my " Faux Tile Poinsettia" card.
Hugs,
True

FLLCNOEL7 Tag You're It by I love rubber - Cards and Paper Crafts at SplitcoaststampersWhat a great challenge, thankyou. I was so happy with my tiles and then I went and messed it all up with this tacky, tacky flower! I hated it when I was photographing it but when I saw it in the gallery I hated it even more if that is possible. I really do like the tile background so I'm going to pull the offending blossom off and try some other options. Here is my "Where's the Grout"

Please ignore the last post. I tried to edit it but it didn't work. Somehow I've linked to the wrong card. Here is the right one. "Where's the Grout"

Geesh, I got some 'spaining to do. First my apologies for leading you guys up the garden path yesterday. I linked the wrong card, then I linked the right card but it was hideous, then I redid it and tried to substitute the new pretty card and my attempt failed. So now I promise the link will work and the card will be worth looking at. Hopefully it's not only me that has blonde days! Here is my "Where's That Grout"
Cheers, Elizabeth

This is as good as it gets from me - 15 C / 59 F is too cold to spend long stamping, and I don't have any suitable large background stamps either. I'd like to try this again when it's warmer .

Thanks for the fun technique Julie! I finally got around to playing around with it. My squares are 3/4" small so sponging really just colored in my squares. I can't wait to play with this one again!
Peace
