Hi there! I have never used digital stamps. I know you download them and just print them on your card stock? Can you use them over and over? Also does anyone know of any cute ones for Valentines day? Thanks everyone for your time.
I'm wondering the same things. I saw some today that were really cute but I'd hate to pay that for only a single use. Hope some answers are forthcoming.
Definitely not single use! Save 'em on your computer or a disk and print them whenever you'd like. I think most companies who sell digitals have a "terms of use" clause that would explain it in detail, so be sure to look for that -- but I've never heard of any of them selling a single use digi.
The one I printed and saved to my computer was free and had like 7 pages, and some other extra's. I didn't even print the rest of it, it came out terrible.
Those are very cute! ok so, how do I print them to make them look nice? Do I have to have a special printer?
I've printed them on a very basic Epsom printer as well as the HP that came bundled with my computer a couple of years ago.
It's hard to say without seeing what you downloaded but it's possible what you got was more in the way of clip art rather than digital stamps. I have never seen 7 pages of free stamps - companies have freebies but even the most generous of them don't give away 7 pages worth.
Lots of the companies have tutorials on how to use their stamps - off the top of my head, I know Squigglefly does.
My current favorite digital Valentines images are at WhimsieDoodles. I'm sure there are tons more out there too if you google it.
The 7 pages was scrapbook layouts. I just downloaded a free tea cup stamp, colored it with the paint program and printed it, it's all fuzzy, not clear at all and the colors smeared. I think I may just stick with regular stamps. LOL.

you're not supposed to "colour" it on your computer. you print out the line art image and colour as you would a stamp.. i just started trying out digi stamps and like them!! i live in Canada and some of the stamps i want would cost an arm and a leg, so i download the digis!! (my favorite things, the greeting farm etc...)
here's a card i made yesterday. printed it on 80lb. neenah cardstock and coloured with copics!

If you go to the download section of this message board there are some very very nice freebies there for you to try out. I have them all and the quality is excellent. You can resize to any size you want. Small enough to fit inside a scallop circle, or big enough to fill the whole front of a card. Or fit to page for a coloring page for a little one!

thanx! i hope you don't give up on digi.. it's not my preferred method of "stamping" but there are times when using a digi image is a lot easier and cost efficient!
one thing i've noticed: If i print my images out with the "Photo" setting versus the text setting the ink smears.. I guess my printer uses a LOT more ink for the photo setting and my copics just eat right through it.. the text setting works great for me though! no smearing!

I have just become hooked on digis. I download them to my computer and resize them using either Word or Paint Shop Pro. You can print them over and over. There are some wonderful sites and often freebies. There was a list on SCS for lots of different sites. They take up no room space and can be resized or printed in any colour you want. (I still like my rubber, but digis are fun)
PS I have a laser printer and the ink never smudges - with the HP printer, I heat set the image with a paper towel and an iron.
I think digis are great!!! Especially if you just need the image for a limited time like holidays. You can use it year after year, but don't have to worry about storage. Here is a valentine image I just colored with Copics from Whimsie Doodles. I really like their digis, super easy to use and resize using word.
i love digital stamps lot more affordable then spending 9.00 for one stamp. Paper make up does really neat stamps and offers there in both digital and rubber. I also really like the greeting farm and dustin pike for digital stamps.

This is abolutely beautiful. Could you tell me please who the maker of this digi is? I didn't see the card in your gallery, but only looked on the first page.

sorry!! I didn't post it here (SCS) but the maker of the stamp is The Stamping Boutique.. I just started designing for them, and this image is why i am!! lol. i love it.

I see you use Paint Shop Pro. I never see anyone that uses it. I do to and I dont really know how to do much with it besides, print my digi's, resize them. By any chance do you know how to merge images together? Like add a dog with a boy? I dont know how to make things tranparent which is what you have to do, to add them I think? Anyway, was just wondering if you know how to do any of that with Paint Shop Pro. Thanks :p
Wow! Love the cards! I hope I can get them printed and use them, I really like them. I'm going to download Photoshop and see if that helps me at all.
Just make sure that when you're downloading the images that you're not just getting the "thumbnail". Usually you need to click on the image or download link to get the quality that you need for using it. Once I've downloaded & saved the image to my computer, I just insert it into a word document for printing and it works wonderfully... just my $.02
I had a lot of trouble with ink smudging when I colored my digis. I didn't have the problem if I had refilled the ink cartridge, apparently that ink is pigment ink. So if I have a new ink cartridge I do one of two things. 1. print the images up on regular paper and take them to the print shop and have them printed onto card stock, it only costs pennies if I bring my own card stock and you want to bring your own if you are coloring with copics because my print shop uses coated card stock. 2. pour clear embossing powder on your image as soon as it comes out of the printer then heat with embossing gun. Either one works if you are having problems.

I just tried to save my images to Word and I can't find where to save it to Word... I know a lot about computers, I don't understand??? LOL
You don't save it to Word, you save it and then import it in to Word. I created a folder called Digital Images and then sub-folders of the different companies so I know where I got what.
Then open a new document in Word and insert a picture - does that make sense?
Yes, it does make sense. Thank you very much. I had to delete my email address for Serene stamp studio, so I set up a new account, I have to have everything matching or I will never get logged in to anything. I was getting like 50 plus spam a day.
I don't think I'm going to use the digital for my son's class for Valentines, it's to much to try and get multiple images on one page. I think I will try and just use them for a card here and there, there are some really cute images.
Thanks everyone!
I like I'm Stamin Crazy better anyway, that's how I feel right now! LOl.

I use PSP a lot (I use to design digital scrapbook kits) and I use it almost exclusively for any graphics work. The first thing you should do if you have the choice is to download all your digi stamps as png files. These are transparent and then you would more easily be able to layer your images. If you already have them in jpeg files, you can use the magic wand to select the white areas and then delete or erase it to leave a transparent background, then you're good to go. There are thousands of tutorials around and most of the digital scrapbooking sites have free tutorials. Google is your friend.
