I know this question is late . . . afterall, the new catty will be coming out soon! But, on the cover of the 2004-05 catty, how did they do that "water-splotchy" thing on the Bold Butterfly without the ink running? Did they simply squirt the inked stamp and apply it to US White paper? Seems too easy to get such a nice effect.
I'm not sure, of course, but the supplies listed on p. 241 do list US Vanilla and a water squirt bottle. The water might have been squirted onto the paper, not the stamp. Just guessing.
It may be something I have tried before, stamp the image with ink, then spray water onto the stamp, before stamping to paper. That way the ink is splotchy, but the image still gets the nice sharp edges.
