Remember, I was on the quest for a drafting table? Because I don't want to spend a lot of money and because I'm impatient, I figured out a way to take my existing table and make it taller - it's perfect not - right at elbow height.
Here's the direct link to the post explaining the whole process....
What's funny is that I was stamping there last night and "I" felt taller which is silly since it's the table that got height, not me!! But I had a blast standing and stamping!

Isn't it great! DH and I raised my cutting, embossing table with much the same technique and I love it,,,,plus it made it tall enough to place 3 IRIS carts full of supplies under the table and still be able to use the tops to lay little things. IT is my layout place and my stamping area(a countertop on top of cabinet bases) is the same height but reserved just for stamping. Enjoy!!!!!

Thanks for this thread, Laura. My craft table is about 1 inch too low for my office chair. It is scraping the arms and the leather is getting scratch marks. Although, I cannot use the piping you suggested because my table is wood, it gave me an idea of using furniture leg extenders for them.

Thank you for sharing! I have wanted to go taller as well...your picture has reminded be of another way to make these tables higher. We use cinder (sp?) blocks under them when using them to do floral arrangements...Might not look pretty but way cheaper than buying something new and I know it will fit in my space!
Three weeks later and I adore my table at it's height. I have taken to standing while crafting like a fish takes to water! My arthritis has been soooo much better! And it has taken the strain off my back.
Wow! I just did this too! (Actually, my hubby did) Thank-you for an awesome, simple and cheap idea! And yes, the added bonus storage space underneath is great. I'm getting ready to figure out a new way to store all my papers and card stock and this has opened up some new posssibilities.
I have also made a pretty fabric "curtain" to attach to two sides so that you can not see all the "essentials" unless you are standing at the table.
Thanks Laura.:p

OOOOH - I think this idea might work for me too! i have such pain in my elbows from arthritis and I prefer standing up when crafting - seems like I have more control
thanks! Besides I love going to lowes and home depot!
