I cross stitch & crochet. I HAVE to read every day. I dabbled in soap making a few years ago, but decided I really didn't have the time or the budget for another hobby. I think beading & jewelry would be a lot of fun, but I've avoided it for the same reason as the soap. I do hope to learn to knit one day.

:mrgreen:WOW, I thought I'd be the only one who said they loved to paint walls (53queenbee). MY DH has put me on restriction from painting OUR house anymore, so I'm available! Besides making cards and paper crafts (NO SCRAPBOOKING for me), I also like (sometimes NEED) to crochet, cross stitch, quilt, sew (garments, home goods and crafts); love to read for pleasure; gardening when the weather is fair enough; wish I was better at and had more room (and TOOLS) for woodworking; also love to go fishing with DH. My DD & DH say I have CRAFT ADD cuz I literally will go from making a card, to sewing something to crocheting all in the span of an hour. They never know where to look for me (and that's my plan!)
You could come paint my house....some rooms still have the original coat of paint from when we moved in 31 years ago.....yep I avoid painting !

Those of you who like to paint walls, please come to my house. It is in desperate need of painting. I don't really have any other craft hobbies. I figure I spend more than enough time and money on stamps. I think if I got into something else my DH would leave me.
One craft thing I do, thanks to a neighbor, is tie-dye. Each summer we do some serious tie dye - we use commercial grade dyes. We had about 30 people involved this year. You name it and we tie dye it. DS has some amazing tie dye underwear - lol.

It is so neat to read what others do! I enjoy a ton of hobbies...now that I know the name for it, Craft ADD, I don't feel guilty! I love to quilt, cross stitch, Russian punch needle, scrapbook, make primitive dolls and other crafts, knit, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE to hook primitive rugs. So many projects, so little time!
Hi!
Hobbies, I'm so ADD when it comes to hobbies, but once I find one it sticks.
Violin playing - 40 years
Knitting, Loom Knitting, Crochet - 36 years
Cross Stitching - 28 years
Rubber Stamping - 21 years (I'm not counting all the variation in this hobby like embossing, flocking, Sizzix, Cricut, Cuttlebug, etc.)
I've done oil painting, but it wasn't my thing. I sew as needed, some clothes, curtains, altering, etc. now it's mostly costumes for church stuff (I have 2 sewing machines and 2 sergers for the big jobs), I've quilted enough to know how, make stuff from time to time and all, but it didn't stick.
Hands down passions are violin playing and cross stitch. I'm one of those people who's working on this project along with a few other pieces in my stash.
No wonder I LOVE this site - SOOOOOOOO much talent here............makes me feel inferior most of the times that is why I usually just "read" and don't post.
But I do have some other hobbies per say............
I have my own registered sewing business (don't do it for anyone other than myself now); I cross stitch; use to do embrodery; photography - this has always been a big thing for me for countless years - even entered and won contests; knit; crochet (usually in the winter); house decorating (just wish I had the $$$ to do what I want in my own home!!); motorsports (I am a race car official - have been for over 14 yrs); woodworking (re-finishing furniture - just started doing this in the past couple years); stamping / cards but alot of scrapbooking.
My problem is I have injured my discs severely and as such I haven't been able to do much of anything except struggle to work............so it is VERY depressing for me. Even now as I type this it is difficult to sit. The problem is in my tailbone, so sitting for any length of time is brutal.
Anyhow, that's me sorta in a nutshell.
I just wonder how some people can say they have "nothing" to do in their spare time!!!!!! My problem is I won't live long enough to do all that I love.
I collect snowmen.... I have dabbled in the One Stroke painting technique (painted our mailbox) and I've recently bought a getting started kit, a technique DVD, and yarn for crocheting. (Although that is still in the bag.) LOL

Yep, it's a big project. I keep telling DH it'll take me 10 years to work on, so I won't be buying anymore cross stitch pieces. He's a little doubtful, but we'll see. So far it's fun and easy to stitch, no back stitches, just large.
Playing piano and guitar and singing (folk songs)- since I was about 11 yrs.old
Crocheting and machine knitting - for about 35 years
Sewing/Quilting - started sewing with my first child - so 34 years
Reading and collecting Tarot Cards - I have 100+ decks now
Papercrafting - a relatively new hobby, but enjoyable enough that it will probably stand the test of time.
And my dogs of course. I am passionate about collies.

This is a great thread! My most favorite thing is playing with my dog and cooking for my husband. I love searching Food Network's website for great recipes.
If I find a pattern that I like, I love cross-stitch. I love great Christmas patterns. This is a craft that my sisters taught me when we were young.
I love my job so much that it often feels more like a hobby, so I will add "statistics" to the list. I am also involved with a lung cancer awareness organization.
Wow so cool to see what everyone else does. But I like photography! Such fun. And baking, not cooking, I hate to cook, but love to bake. Is that weird? I think I like it since it's all deserts that you are eating so it's so much fun in the end. And extreme motor sports. My sweetie is into cars and we do racing and drags, but we have quads and are a little extreme at times.
I teach flute lessons on the side (first career was as a flutist...), decorate cakes and read. Oh, and I knit. A lot. That's actually why I originally started a blog - to have a place to put pictures of my knit stuff. Now, it has cards on it, too!
Besides stamping/scrapbooking, I also enjoy all kinds of crafting. I really like gaming too-- any kind of game can suck me in. Oh, and shopping. Shopping is my favorite.
I've done lots of things over the years. What I still do regularly is quilt, mess with my horses, play keyboard, sing, scrapbook and crochet some. I have cross stitched in the past, but haven't pulled that out in a while. I like doing things that make me feel creative - well, horses aren't "creative" necessarily...they're just good for my soul!
I love to watercolor paint, acrylic paint, paint small furniture pieces, build things, make jewerly, beading, gardening, cooking, reading magazines, spending hours in the bookstore! And of course my web design and photography!
I only started beading about 2 months ago! I've been buying beads at the speed of light!! Somebody has got to stop me!! I've proly got enough beads and string to make necklaces for every member of SCS!! I've only made one thing so far!! hahaha!! This is my first piece I've made! It's an eyeglasses holder!! I'm making one for my sister that I will post on my blog soon!
Paper crafting and beading are tied for #1 but I also enjoy cooking, reading, crocheting- usually as needed, gardening-okay, i don't necessarily like gardening all that much but I like the results so I do it :-) , staring at my guitar that I just "had to have" a few birthdays ago, collect dust. I used to enjoy sewing but my sewing machine doesn't like me (gotten it fixed twice and it still doesn't work right) so it also collects dust. I could listen to music almost all day long. All kinds of music. I listen to a lot of blues, classic rock, alt rock, christian rock, but also enjoy country, classical, some bluegrass, world music, etc.....

My thing is all types of needlecrafts. I mostly quilt now, but have done regular embroidery (my first needlework, started at age , taught silk ribbon embroidery, sewed clothing, draperies, and household items, french heirloom sewing, smocking, crocheted afghans and doilies, crewel embroidery, tried knitting, made wired ribbon flowers, counted cross stitch - I love it all except the yarn things - it's a tension problem. I must sew something every day or the day seems incomplete! Besides all that, I love to read and do flower gardening, and bake. I've dabbled in poetry. Started making cards about 18 months ago. I'm almost NEVER bored!
I'm a big reader. I love to cook, especially to bake. And, honestly, I'll try any craft. In fact, I'm currently taking a metalworking class (it lasts about 10 weeks) and am LOVING it! We're learning all sorts of metalworking skills to use in jewelry making.

My other hobbies beside stamping. (not a scrapper) is Sewing. (I got a new machine for christmas) Floral arrangements. I use to collect Teddy Bears & Frogs. I also like to draw. and I love to go camping.
I crochet and did needlepoint and crewel embroidery for many years. I still have needlepoint canvases I can work on but buying the threads and having the finished piece blocked and framed is way too expensive.
Seaglass collecting!!! Love it! The suspense about what you may find for the day is very fun!
I love photography too! I need to devote more time to it this year though!
hmm.. besides paper-crafting i love photography, i love to cook (gourmet-type meals), and... i occasionally read (although that's taken a MAJOR back seat since I started card-making).
before i started teaching high school band/choir i used to listen to a lot of jazz, compose/arrange a lot, and plug away at my cd in the recording studio. Now when I get home after 10 hours of music the LAST thing I want to do is sit at the piano.. it's sad, but I have this wonderful hobby to fuel my creative juices..

I design for: Stampendous!, There She Goes, Technique Tuesday,
SRM Stickers and Deconstructed Sketches.
Reading, quilting, a bit of genealogy, watercolor.
I have to limit what I try to accomplish since I have 5 (almost 6) grandkids that I watch regularly, and I teach classes at church and sing on worship team.
I just wanted to add a word. Actually what most people do for a hobby that is what I do for living. I used to be violinist in a Symphonic Orchestra so I played violin for 20 years. (started at 6 years old). I than became a computer scientist (Ok that is not really a hobby) now I am a painting teacher and I also teach scrapbooking and stamping workshops.
So as of a hobby for me now it has to be something other than arts or craft so I am learning Italian and OK just a little bit of art, I play Cello for fun.
I'd love to be able to earn a living doing crafts!
As you might have guessed, I love to scrapbook and knit. I like pretty much any other papercraft (some I don't have much experience with, like quilling). I also enjoy photography, cross-stitch, I've played with beading, and I love to read (must read every day!)
I do, however, see the light of day! My husband and I enjoy hiking and walking with our dog (see avatar). I enjoy camping too. And I guess it's not really a hobby, but family! (especially my 14 year old niece and 2 year old nephew).
I don't know how I find time to work a full-time job!
I, too, don't really understand the concept of "boredom". And I can also relate to the concept of "crafter's ADD".
It's nice to learn a little about other people's obsessions, er HOBBIES, I mean!
I also am a quilter, cross stitcher, and I do a little knitting. I need to dust off my sewing machine and get some baby quilts made. I am a collector of pink depression glass-- I have two china closets full.
I love depression glass, too! I collect covered "chicken dishes" in all colors and sizes. Most often the cover is a hen, and the dish is the nest, but I have other birds and animals, too. I just love the silly things.
I also like to draw and paint, knit, crochet, bead, and quilt. I'm still working full time, though, so needless to say, I can't do all of these things all the time. My sewing machines are DUSTY!
It all started with sewing... My mom taught me that. and covering photoalbums with fabric and ribbon.. VERY 80's... cross stitching, crocheting, scrapbooking, card making... OH! I fall so easily for crafty hobbies... But I have drawn a line in the sand. Papercratfing and sewing/quilting. Other than crafty stuff, I LOVE to read, bake, cook decorate cakes, a little gardening and I collect Lucy and Me Bears and Cherrished Teddies.
