This event is designed as a SplitCoastStampers Community Event. You are welcome to invite friends, but we do ask that they register a screen name here at SCS and really make an effort to participate in the "chat thread(<---click this link). It really makes the event more fun when you have chatted with people ahead of time and gotten to know them a little bit.
There will be no vendors at this event. Vendors will not have anything on display nor will there be anything for you to purchase. The intent of the weekend is to meet and get to know other SCS'rs, not acquire customers. Solicitation of any sort is strongly discouraged. In the same regard, the roster that will be provided to those that participate is not to be used for any type of solicitation purposes.
Event will include:
Get Acquainted time/Introductions
Make-n-Takes (supplies provided)
Special Guest Demonstration from Sandy Hulsart who will demonstrate how to use Stampscapes for scenic stamping
Name Tag Contest
Prize drawings throughout the weekend
Catered snacks (Fri. night & Sat. afternoon); Pasta buffet lunch (Sat.)
Coordinator Challenge Cards (and prizes of course!)
Display Walls
The Registration Form asks you if you want your name included on the Roster. This is list is not to be used for any type of solicitation, simply meant to provide you with contact information about attendees that perhaps live in your area and you may want to get together with after the event is over. If you choose not to have your name included in the Roster, you will not receive a copy of the Roster either.
Handmade door prizes (optional)
Organized swapping (optional)
Optional Beginner Copic Class with Sandy Hulsart (additional cost)
Registration:
This is a 2-day event; participation on both days in required (hours are listed on the Registration Form)
Registration fees are non-refundable
This is an ADULT only event; 18 and older please
Each registrant's SCS screen name MUST be included on their Registration form
Registration will be done in the order payment is received; emails or PM's in advance of payment will not be considered "placeholders"
If your Registration/Payment is received and there are no spots available anymore, you will be notified via PM and your payment will be promptly returned to you
You will receive a PM when your completed registration has been received
SASEs (Self Addressed Stamped Envelopes with $.59 postage) will be used to send materials to attendees prior to the event (expect to receive this in February; I will PM you when it has been mailed out) or to return checks to those who did not make the cut-off, whichever is applicable
Swapping - participation is optional:
Please follow the instructions in Post#5 to sign up for as many types of swaps as youd like to participate in
Including the card recipe optional, but very much appreciated. If you choose to include the recipe, please put it on a post-it note and place the post-it note inside the card
We will have a specific time set aside during the event to facilitate all of the organized swaps
We will have a display wall for the swaps, so please bring one (in a clear envelope if it's a card) to post on the wall (it will then be donated to "Cards for Heroes")
Beginner Copic Class with Sandy Hulsart, Certified Copic Instructor additional $25/person:
Check out Sandys blog to see a sample of her beautiful work with Copics
Topic covered in this 2-hours class include:
Color families and numbering system
Marker maintenance, refills and nib replacement
Inks and Paper
Blending and the Blender Pen
Creating custom colors from a limited palette
Airbrush demonstration
Students will receive an assortment of handouts, stamped images, and individual instruction on how to blend colors
Students must bring their own Copic markers and a blender pen
Space is limited to the first 25 guests. You must attend the SCS MI Mingle in order to attend this class
Request Patty, Lorien and Tracy will not be participating in the Swaps due to our responsibilities at the event over the course of the weekend. We are fine with this arrangement and enjoy running the event. The only bummer is that at the end of 2-days, we won't have any of the awesome cards and projects to take home with us. So here's our request for anyone who would like to help us out. If you would like to make extra samples of swaps for us, we will have 3 RAK baskets (one for each of us) at the event. This is totally voluntary and in no way required. I guarantee all cards/projects received will be greatly appreciated by all 3 of us!
Sleeping Rooms
We have reserved a small room block for both Friday and Saturday night. Rooms have either one king bed or two double beds for $89/night. You can contact the hotel directly at 248-344-8800 to make your reservation or you can book online by going through a special page that has been created just for our group. A credit card will be needed to reserve your sleeping room. If you are in need/looking for a roommate, pls. post your desire on the chat thread. The room block is only available until 3/5/10.

This year we will be doing swaps a little differently than we have in the past. You will sign up for the swaps you want to do in advance. Once the sign ups are closed you will know how many of each swap you need make and bring to the event. We will get each swap group together at the event to do the swapping. This should eliminate people making too many or not enough. I will close the swap sign ups at the same time registration is closed so that you have ample time to work on your swaps. You can always get started on them early too.
If you have any questions or suggestions on categories for the swaps please PM me and let me know.
PM me to sign up for a spot. Please remember if you sign up for a spot you are making a commitment to complete your swap and bring it to the event.

Four Seasons Themed ATC (Artist Trading Card) Swap
By Special Request
No vendor restrictions. Since we here in Michigan get to enjoy 4 distinct seasons (usually) let's pick our favorite and represent it in an ATC. Never done an ATC before? Here are some great instructions on how to get 10 ATC bases out of one sheet of cardstock. Be sure to check out the ATC gallery to see examples of this miniature art form.
Get your mingle gear through the "Stamping Shirts" link in my signature. All proceeds help fund the mingle. The link in my signature is considered a referral link and we earn an additional 15% of the sale for the mingle just by you coming to the site through that link.
All of the designs have been loaded. If you don't see the shirt you want, you are able to customize the shirts and put them on a different style. If you have any questions or requests please PM me!
ETA - We also have items at CafePress. These are designs from the 2009 mingle and they do not say "Michigan Mingle" on them. The sales from this shop still go towards the mingle. Here is a link if you want to check those out.
I would be willing to do a make and take if you want more. Last year I did mine and my three guest's shoebox swaps, so it's almost the same. Let me know if you want to see some of my work as I have none in my gallery cause I'm too lazy to upload it. : )

Aimee
Hi Aimee,
The way we are planning it is our 8 design team members are each coming up with and prepping a make n take for all of the attendees to do. Time wise I think we need to keep it at 8 total. If anything happens and one of the current DT can't do it we will let you know. Thanks for offering! Looking forward to seeing you again at the next mingle!

I have been getting that most rewarding phone calls and emails from the vendors who advertise here on SCS! Wow in this economy I'm amazed at some of the things folks are willing to donate.

Patty, that is really exciting and also very generous of the vendors. Really looking forward to attending my first Mingle.
Patty that is awesome. Is this all coming about because the Mingle is posted on this thread?
No. Patty contacts them asking for donations.
In other news... Word on the street is that there are 3-4 suspected mingle registrations at Tracy's house. Her husband is dating the envelopes as they come in. We'll find out whose they are when Tracy is back in town.
Location: Getting my daily dose, ok double daily dose of SCS in Minglerville, MI!

That is too cool Patty!! Are you going to give us a hint or anything? Or just tease us mercilessily (sp?) until March?

It was brought to my attention that some Minglers tried to book a sleeping room with two beds and they were unable to do so, presuming the room block was full.
The problem with the hotel has been resolved and you can now book a sleeping room with two beds under our room block.
If you have any problems booking the type of room you want, please PM me.
What is a shoebox project? It sounds interesting...;)
We are not having shoebox projects this year. It was a copy & paste error in Post #1. I have removed the reference to avoid any further confusion. Sorry.

It says something about us making a shoebox project for the hostesses of the mingle.
But I still want to know what it is; sounds interesting...and cute.
