TLC242 Easel Card {10/12/09}
We all love to show off the cards we received. In fact, there are three sitting on top of my television right now (remnants from our recent anniversary). It's so nice to have them sitting around for a time to remind us that someone thought enough of us to send us a greeting.
Today's technique will have you making cards that come with their own built-in-easel. This design, instructions and guide are all brought to you by Penny Wessenauer, who has given me permission to share this design with you. Penny's instructional pages can be found HERE.
While the template shows a 4 X 4" card, the size of your card can be modified by remembering that the base of your card needs to be twice the length as the front so that when the card is folded (or closed) the base will be the same size as the front. You will see what I mean when you look at the samples and instruction.
My sample card is a 5-1/4" X 5-1/4" square card, so you can see how easily you can easily adjust your card to any size. I hope that you will join me and play along with this challenge...I have a feeling that you will be hooked on this fun design.
To view my sample card, CLICK HERE, and for a side view, CLICK HERE.
To view the gallery of all Easel cards, CLICK HERE.
For added inspiration, check out THIS gallery here on SPS and there is another page of inspiration HERE.
Remember to add the keyword TLC242 (no spaces) AND the word EASEL CARD when you upload your creation. I can't wait to see what you all create using this fun card design.

your card looks fantastic - but I don't get it again. Is the card cut from one piece of cs or are back and front of card done seperately? On the instructions it looks like 2 pieces, is that right? I am just useless, I need step-by-step instructions....
Thanks for helping!

I am not sure I understand it either. Do you adjust the score lines? or did you leave them at 2".

Yes, it is two pieces. One for your front panel and the second is your base.

For the base - it's twice as long as your card front.
Fold the base in half, then on one side of the base, fold in half again.

I think I did one of these in a previous life and it was fairly easy - will soon know - off to give it a try!

If you look in the TLC242 gallery, I did shoot a picture of the side view, which will give you a pretty good idea of what the back looks like.

What a fun design. With the kiddies home, I don't know if I will get to this today, but I have my sketch and notes ready. This is a keeper.

I love the look of this card. How can it be mailed since it's square? I've got 80 Christmas cards that can't be hand delivered!

You can mail square cards. I do always place an additional .17 cent stamp to cover cost of oversized cards. If you did this in a 4 X 4 size, it would fit into a standard A2 envelope. I always keep A2 envelopes and 5.5" square envelopes on hand, as these are the two sizes I make most.

When mailing the card...how do you let the person who is receiving the card know how to display it? Any suggestions?
