Default Card Request for Sister, BIL, and two sons

My sister's breast cancer has come back and spread to her brain. She is in the hospital right now, but hopes to come home in a couple weeks after her radiation treatment. I know she would love some happy cards in the mail, as would her great husband and two sons (ages 8 and 3 1/2). Her sons do not know the full extent of the situation, so please just send happy cards to them.

Please PM me for her address.

Thanks so much in advance-I know I can always count on SCSers to help.

Oh Meg, I am so sorry to hear this, as a breast cancer survivor it is very difficult to read this. Please know that my prayers are with you, your sister and her family. I would be very honored to send a card to her family and will make one for the boys as well. I am not sure how old she is or what her current state is, but there is a website www.youngsurvival.org that has boards of women who are in her same boat. I have found lots of encouragement and strength through these ladies, and if your sis is up to it, know she will as well. Love, prayer and hugs to you all.

Jamie

Thanks so much, everyone! We have been in charge of the boys when we're not at the hospital, which makes it a bit difficult to get on here! I will be replying to everyone right now. She was doing a lot better yesterday, and will be coming home today. Jamie, thanks so much for that website, I think that is what she really needs to hear! I would be honored if you added a link in your siggy. Thanks again, guys!

You are so welcome Meg, I posted in some other threads about your sis and glad to see that some of the ladies followed me here!!! Just have your sis join the bullentin board (www.youngsurvival.org then click on bullentin board to register) on the site and there is a great group of ladies on the metastatic board there. I have met several of these ladies personally and they will fill your sister with love and hope!!! I am going to let on special friend (her screen name is stage4andfab) Lisa to be looking out for your sis, she is such an amazing woman and will give your sis all the encouragement she needs. Please also share my email with her if she ever wants to "just talk" would be honored to help in any way. cherryhillmom@hotmail.com

Hugs

Yes, I followed to this sight, from the Think Pink sight. Thanks Vivian, for posting the link.

And Meg, I will keep both your sister and the family in my thoughts. I was lucky, my kids were old enough to understand.

Nancy, how many years out are you?? I hope and pray that you are cancer free and doing good. I am at 2yrs 4 months and doing good. I am still doing 3 month checkups, so I get worried before each scan. Since mine had spread to my lymph nodes, mine could very well come back at anytime. My oldest child is a girl and she will have to start breast MRIs at 19, and she has really suffered with alot of things since my diagnosis. My younger two boys didn't really get what was going on that I could actually die. My middle son though is older now and has learned that cancer can and does kill people so his feelings are really raw right now. I pray for these little boys of Meg's sister, even though they probably don't get what is going on, they know something is not right. Wish I could just grab this whole family in a big hug!!!

Meg, I have a card ready to mail for Cindy, but will wait until my boys get a card made for her boys. I will try to mail them on Saturday. Everybody check your ladies (boobs) monthly and keep it up!!!

Okay Vivian, I feel like such a ding dong, I did not know you were a survivor as well. Congrats on the 5 years, that is a big milestone. Totally get the nerves over scans, I don't think I sleep a wink the night before. I will be keeping you in my prayers.

Am a member of Cole's Foundation which was founded by the parents of a sweet three-year-old little boy who lost his battle with cancer last year. Would consider it a privilege to send a some happy mail to your sister.

Please pm me with the address to use and let me know favorite colors, or other likes that I may incorporate them in her card.

Is there a Caringbridge or Carepages site for your sister? If so, please let me know. Also, please let your sister know that she can register at the foundation for prayers and encouragement.

Thank you Jamie for asking after my sister (glad to hear your MRI was good!) and thank you Caterina for the Cole's Foundation information, I will PM you and forward the information to my sister.

Thanks to everyone who has sent a card or said a prayer.

She met with her doctor yesterday and they found cancer in her brain, bones, liver, and lungs. Have I mentioned cancer sucks? The good news is she has been improving-no longer needs a walker and just spend 3 hours at Target with my mom!

I would like to ask for you to continue thinking of her and her family in your prayers.

Meg, I meant to respond about your sister a while ago. We are having our own challenges with cancer and it certainly makes you more empathetic for others going through that journey. I hope your Sis has more good days ahead and enjoys the upcoming holidays. I will add her to my prayer list and PM you for her addie. HUGS to her and to you. See you at VSN. Kathy

PS Just get a kick out of your masked doggie.
