Got game? Come play! "Chicks Rule" Card Kit Swap *The kits are postal!*Thanks!*
Hi card kit lovers! I really love designing card kits; they're fun and great to have on hand! Plus, it's neat to sample all the goodies out there that we don't have ourselves...
***All are welcome---seasoned stampers and beginners too. Please do your very best. Let's have some fun!***
This swap will have 3 different categories:
1. "Chicks": Anything to do with a chick, duck, owl, bird, etc.---if it has feathers it will work!
2. "Girly-Girl"
3. "Anything Goes": You choose the theme, the stamps, etc. It's all up to you; show us what you like! Please use quality materials; use what you LOVE and would enjoy receiving and working with. If you love it, chances are everyone else will too!
Card Kits include:
1. 2-3 cleanly stamped images (just in case there's an "OOPS" when coloring). Please stamp on quarter sheets to leave enough room for cropping. Please stamp on quality cardstock with waterproof ink. Please label finished kit with type of ink. Please leave image uncolored.
2. Sentiments welcome, but optional.
3. 2 6x6 pieces of coordinating designer papers (this gives the recipient the option of making different card sizes, using it for diecuts/punches, or embellishing the envelope, etc.)
4. Minimum of 1 foot coordinating ribbon, trim, cord, fiber, etc.
5. Coordinating embellishments: Brads, eyelets, buttons, primas, and charms are just some examples. Use your imagination!
6. Anything else you would like to include to up the "WOW" factor of the finished card!
***Please follow rules carefully; I want all who participate to be happy with their swap return.***
Quantity: 5 +1 Send in 6, get 5 back; +1 is for the hostess. If you sign up for more than one spot, please design a different kit for each spot.
Packaging: Please place each card kit in an individual baggie, including your name and SCS name. Place all kits in a larger baggie, again including your name and SCS name.
Mailing Instructions: Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for return mailing purposes. The amount of postage on your return envelope should be equal to what it takes to mail your goodies. Please include 2 extra stamps; these will be returned to you if not needed. Please, no metered strips, these are only good for same day mailing. ***I love to recycle and will reuse your envie if you include a label and the postage.***
Deadline: November 20. Please have your swaps to me by this date and I will swap them out and get them in the mail within a week---I will be speedy quick because I know how excited I am to get my swaps!
Prizes: I am going to do the prizes differently this time; I will draw names for each of the 3 groups. If you take more than 1 spot in a group, you will be entered again---1 spot = 1 chance to win, 2 spots = 2 chances to win, and so on. Winners will get an extra kit designed by me!
Ready, Set, Let's Play!!!
When your name is highlighted in magenta, your kits have been received.

Angela, Great swap. Can you please give me one spot in each category. Also what kind of stamps are good for Girly Girl Kits? I do not have too many character stamps. So, give me some ideas.

Yay! More friends! Great to have you Banu and Joan!
Banu, you could do something pink themed or for a younger girl or shopping related; pretty much anything you think is feminine. I left it pretty broad so you just pick what you like!

As long as I have the appropriate stamps, I wouldn't miss one of your kit swaps for anything, Angela!
Sign me up for 'Anything Goes' for now; I need to put on my thinking hat to decide what to do....

Me too, Imke! And I really love to make these kits up! That is a lot of the fun for me; DD likes to help and I always enjoy spending time with her doing something we both like. At the age of 11, she doesn't always think spending time with Mom is too cool....

Have fun! Pumpkin pie is DH's absolute favorite; I have to make three at Thanksgiving. I only use 1/2 the sugar, so that makes them kind of healthy, right ?

I'm back,
My New York trip was superb. We stayed at the Double Tree Inn in Times Square and each one of us had to select something we wanted to do and everyone would follow:
1. We visited Mojo's in Harlem, a restaurnat that is seen on the commercial when you watch Law and Order. I do not watch Law and Order, so I cannot tell you.
2. Visited Ground Zero
3. Went to a comedy club, cannot tell you who I saw.
4. We saw Lion King, Mama Mia, and West Side Story.
5. We took the subway to Central Park to try and see Oprah, No, we did not and we
could not go into the Park.
6. We got up at 5:30 in the morning to stand in a long line to be on Good Morning,
America, which did not work, because we needed an online confirmation to stand in
the very front. (Hated this part)
7. Went to Greenich Village and attended an all night street festival. FUN, FUN
I also found a stamp store (looking for a restroom) name The Inkpad. Extremely
small, but their stamps were displayed as if you were in a library. I didn't find
anything special (I bought three stamps). They have been in business for over 11
years.
8. Stayed up talking all night and having a great time.
9. We also had a pedicure and manicure
As you can see, I had a great time.
Joan

That has got to be healthy for sure! I will try it!
Speaking of Thanksgiving, the kids mentioned that when we were shopping. DD wanted turkey (no time), so we have pork loin, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, cranberries (kids' request) and the pie! I can't wait for supper!

Joan, your trip sounds awesome! How cool it would be to do that every year with friends. I would be thrilled to find a stamp store too; you said it was nothing special.... Did they have what you would see around your town? Or different stuff?

Angela,
I do not want to mislead you, the store was triangular shaped, only one person could stand at a section. They had a wide selection and variety of stamps. The store is a landmark in the area and the owners are wonderful. I bought five stamps, of course. Anyone would love to visit the store and I loved the atmosphere and they had a nice selection of classes. I would definitely go back

I have to report on the pumpkin pie.... They did not have Libby's pumpkin and I use the recipe on the label. The only pumpkin they had was Re-Union and it had a recipe, but it wasn't as good as Libby's...and I even put in lots of extra spices! I did use 1/2 the sugar and that seemed to work just fine! I will do that again (with Libby's pumpkin)! The kids seemed to like it very well anyway!

Glad the sugar trick worked out for you. I usually go with Libby's pumpkin out of habit, but now I know that it's not worth switching!
Speaking of LSS, I recently found a cute little store in an adapted Victorian that is a blast to visit. They have a bit of everything and you have to wander through all the rooms admiring the inventory. The best part is the class schedule -- a friend and I enjoyed a technique's class there this summer. The store is in a St. Louis suburb, so it takes about a 1/2 hour to get there, but makes for a fun road trip!!
