AUG09VSBNO ~ Sunday, August 30, 2009 ~ 10:00 AM EST ~ Oh, Baby
Title: "Oh, Baby"
Hostess: Cav ~Maggie's Mummy~
Keyword: AUG09VSBNO
Day/Date: Sunday, August 30, 2009
Time: 10:00 AM (EST)
OK, so, I guess I'm like many of you - I didn't start scrapping until after the birth of Maggie. In fact she was about 6 months old before I even attempted my first page. At that time, I thought scrapbooking was to commemorate babies and weddings. I never realised you could pretty much scrapbook anything. Most of the scrapbook pages I've done are about Maggie - hey, when you've got a good subject, it's a lot easier to scrapbook. And I also have a lot of pages done for babies - Maggie, other peoples babies, my cousins' babies - I don't think I'm alone when I say that I'm pretty handy when it comes to throwing together a baby page - LOL!!!!
So, my challenge for you is to make a baby page - except this time YOU are the baby!!!
To add some interest to the challenge (if this wasn't enough!!!!!) there is a recipe to follow and I'd like you to use a technique:
RECIPE INGREDIENTS
* 1 baby photograph of yourself, any size
* 12 x 12 Base cardstock, any colour
* 2 pieces of DSP or Patterned Paper in sizes A) 6" x 3" & B) 4" x 7"
(different patterns or use each side if DSP)
* Coordinating cardstock - Colour 1 = 2" x 5"
* Coordinating cardstock - Colour 2 = 1" x 12"
* Coordinating cardstock - Colour 3 = 3" x 7"
* A journal box (either pre-created or one you create yourself)
* 1 piece of ribbon 6" long (any width, any colour)
* 1 piece of ribbon 7" long (any width, any colour)
* 6 buttons OR 6 brads OR combo of both totalling 6
* Faux Wood Frame (click HERE for directions - they're really easy!!!)
NB: Instead of using Brads on your Faux Wood Frame for your "nails", use punched out circles or draw them in by hand.
METHOD
Take all of the elements listed above and arrange them in any fashion to create your page. You can add colour and stamping to your page as long as you use ALL of, and ONLY, the above elements. Your Faux Wood Frame should "frame" your photo.
For those of you who just went "ahhhhh, a 12 x 12 page - I don't do them" - don't worry, I'm hoping most of you can still play. I have attached a document which has the measurements for the elements if you use a 6x6 or 8.5x11 layout as your regular format.
AND, if you do a DPS then use this recipe for each page to add some continuity. You could do a mirror image or rotate the sketch of your fist page - the sky's the limit!!!!!
1. ALL VSBN CREATIONS MUST BE UPLOADED BY 10:00 PM EST ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMEMBER 6TH.
2. You have 2 hours to complete the challenge (unless otherwise stated).
3. Please remember to put in the correct keyword, AUG09VSBNO , when uploading your image. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos.
It is also highly recommended that you post a link to your creation in this chat thread to be sure you layout is seen.
great challenge..... but I have no baby pictures of myself! My mother still has them ALL!!!!!
My mom had all mine too....it's just been these past couple of years that I've gotten most of them from here.....with the promise of course that I will scan them so there will be more than one copy ;)

Morning gals. Cav I'm loving this challenge. Got good sleep and I'm raring to go. I'm using my one lil baby pic(second copy). Now to cut into some paper.

I am here today, but I don't know for how long.... I decided not to go to church, because I am still not feeling the greatest and just in case my immune system is low, I would hate to pick up another bug a week before I go see the cardiologist. So it is a indoor/ Scrap/movie day here at our house.

Good choice!!! It's not a good idea to put yourself at risk......(there is a lot going around lately it seems)
Yay for more scrapping!!!!

hehehehe..... my mom won't share! Because there are not very many of me... like I was saying last night, I was a real brat about having my picture taken when I was younger, so she treasures the few that we do have. She says (thinks) that if she gives them to me, she won't get them back and I move around so much, she is afraid they will just get lost and she wants them to pass on to my grandkids... go figure! :rolleyes:

What about scanning them so she can keep the original and you can have copies??

Look at your sweet baby hair!!!!! Awwww....so cute!!!
I can't get over these frames!!!!! So real looking!!!!
Yes, the hair - it's sort of never left me. Don't know if you can really tell from the pic's of me that I DO post on here from time to time, like in my avie and such - I actually sit on my hair - not deliberately of course, because that would just hurt - LOL!!!!! But it's fairly long, is what I mean.
And how cool are the Faux Wood Frames - they ROCK and are so easy to make - that's why I wanted everyone to share in making them in this challenge. I hope you all enjoy making them like I do!!!!!

Yep, that's what I did with mine. My original pics were 2"x2" squares with a white border. I scanned them, sized them up and reprinted, so I still have my originals!!! (My mum would be so proud!!!!)
Hey there! I'm just on my way out to run but I had to check in on the challenge - what fun! I can't wait to get started. I don't have any baby pics left of myself (just had the one from the hospital) but I might use a toddler picture.

She keeps telling me she could do that, but she is not a computer person and I don't know what else her problem is. But the next time I go home to the West coast.... I am going to get my hands on some pictures! :mrgreen:

SIL just woke up....I wonder if she'll be totally eager to start scrappin' again......yesterday she got a ton done....but as she's a newbie I got nothing done :rolleyes:

LOL, yes.......I still amaze my kids from time to time that I have those eyes....and they are teens!!!
Tell your mom that she doesn't have to do it.....she can take them to a photo development place and have them done for her....then she can mail you the CD or DVD and you can have all the pics to print you want!!!!
Or the next time you're home....you can do it for her ;)

Newbie's can be fun, when you're not fussed about getting stuff done yourself. Still, at least you have company to scrap!!!!! :mrgreen:

I did that - I asked my mom for the pics so I could scan them and put them up on our family website for all to share. I told her I'd put them in photo albums for her. Trouble is, five years later, I still have them. :rolleyes: Most ARE on the website, but I haven't put them in the blasted albums yet. I'm sure YOU'll be better at that than me, Anavon.
