The new JustRite Spellbinders dies, are the retail stores that sell the JustRite stamps selling the dies as well, or are they only available through the JustRite website?

Probably years before they sell in stores here, will have to check out that website.

Default Question re: S4 107 Reindeer Poseabilty

I asked this on another thread-duh, should have posted it here.

I bought a Spellbinder Reindeer Poseability but can't quite figure out how to use it. The heads - side view and facing out, body, antlers and legs - front & back are all separate. I get how to put them together. On the back, there is a statement - 'Look for coordinating Impressabilitiesstamps in clear polymer and red rubber.' Does this mean there should be a stamp that can be used with this die or do you use a dauber to stencil? The parts of the reindeer have 'open' sections - i.e. the inner ear, eye opening & the upper part of the head leaving the nose, the'cheek' and mouth portions covered. I tried doing a web search for a stamp for this die but was unsucessful.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

3 1/2 years ago Spellbinders launched the first line of coordinating stamps and dies that matched Spellbinders dies! They were called "Impressabilities". The stamps were discontinued several years ago and are no longer available. Poseabilities were dies that you could die cut and piece together in different positions. These dies are no longer available. There was a reindeer, a Santa a cat, a dog, a scarecrow and a snowman. They were very cute dies!

Hope this helps!!

Can any of the Arizona girls tell me which Michaels carry Spellbinders. I read here some time back that Michaels was going to start carrying them. However I have not found them in my Mesa store, and forgot to ask them when I was there. I know all stores are not equal so thought I would ask here. Thanks so much for any help.

I can't find them in SW Ohio M's stores, either. It'd be great if we could get them here and use a 40-50% coupon!

Debbie, I am thinking about getting the Grand Caliber. I have the older purple Wizard that came with a translucent plate. Will that work or will I have to buy the newer one?

I suspect that Michaels has introduced the Spellbinders only into select U.S. stores as a trial run. At least JoAnn is carrying quite a large selection (although mine is curiously dividing them half in paper crafts and half in greeting cards).

Does anyone know if Spellbinders are going to put out a lacy edged oval? I have the circles and squares and just love them.

I live just outside Casa Grande, AZ and the Michaels in CG has spellbinder nesties. Not a huge selection though. Priced at $25 plus tax. Joann's online has a much better selection to choose from.

I usually wait for SB sales at ScrapyLand (not a typo; just one "p") and/or Scrap-Mart. At least once a year, Scrap-Mart does a 50% off SB sale.

Hobby Lobby gets some of them and I try to buy what I can from them with a 40% off coupon. They won't have the newest ones until late Summer, but I have more time( to wait) than money LOL

When the Nestabilities first came out, I seem to recall someone (Ellen?) showing pictures of the different sizes of mats that you could get from pairing the small shapes with the large scallops or the large shapes with the large scallops... Does anyone know where that was? TIA!

Another quick question. The sandwich for using Nestabilities in the Big Shot calls for two Spellbinders tan mats. Does anyone know whether any of the Sizzix mats can be substituted... they have one that looks like it is called Texturz Silicone Rubber and another called the Texturz Impressions pad. Thanks for your help!

The Texturz Silicone Rubber should work. The tan mats are a bit thinner so you may only need to use the one Silicone one. Those would be used for the embossing. For just cutting you use this sandwich:

multipurpose platform
die, cutting side up
cardstock
TWO acrylic plates

I sometime have to put a piece of cardstock on top of that if the die is an intricate design.

Hi,

I am hoping someone can help me here. Is there a way to cut out your image and have a part of your image outside the cut area? For example: If I wanted to cut a bunny image out using my circle die but want to have the ears of the bunny coming out of the circle. Does that make sense? (I have a cuttlebug machine). Just wondering if this has been or can be done. Thanks in advance for all your help

And so was it possible? I wouldn't have thought so with Nestabilities. I usually cut out the image and then 3D it onto the circle, so would like to know if it was possible. I guess you could only run it through the Bug so far and then wind back again, that may work to some degree.

Totally possible - I do it all the time! You can find it here in the resource section. It's called the Out of the box technique, easy to do and a great effect.

How do you use the Nestibilities dies together--to get a double frame-I have a big shot and when I insert everything--when it comes out of the machine ---everything has moved. I read something about a magnet pad--What do I do..???

I tape everything down with the sticky part of Post-It Notes. I buy the small ones that are 1 & 1/2" by 2"
I have tried removable scotch tape ( blue box) but the pressure of the machine seems to make it stick quite firmly

I have a Cuttlebug and a Wizard. I use the magnetic mat in the Wizard, but I have not tried it in the Cuttlebug. I was afraid it may make the sandwich stack too thick for the CB

The magnetic mat is for the Wizard and sold by Spellbinders

I use a blue masking tape that house painters use. It works really well and the same pieces of tape can be used over and over, and I find that it holds everything just where I want it.

Default nestibilities-spellbinders

Thanks so much about taping the spellbinders dies --you see I haven't had any trouble until I put the smallest die inside the biggest die to achieve a different look--the tape won't work for that so I'm going to have to cut each die one at a time or place a lot of dies on my sizzix at one time.. I wish sizzix would come out with a magnet plate....

I just tried the Wizard magnetic mat in my Cuttlebug and it works!

I think you are trying to cut a large heart shape with the smallest heart shape inside of it , correct?

Normally I would use 1 "B" plate and 1 "C "plate to cut Nesties
For it to work with the Wizard magnetic mat I used "2 B" plates ( no C plate)

This is the stack I used from the bottom up

3 cardstock shims
B
Cardstock
magnetic mat with both heart dies on it ( ridges up)
B
A

Play around and see how many shims you need. I always start with the "least number of shims" and keep adding them until it cuts

If it works in the Cuttlebug there must be a sandwich that works in the Bigshot.

You may need to substitute a chip board shim for one cutting plate to allow for the depth of the magnetic mat . Set your sandwich as you normally use it, minus one cutting plate . Then play by adding cardstock or chipboard shims one at a time until it cuts.

Hope this helps

Congratulations!

There is a larger cut area with the Grand Calibur, don't be afraid to send more than one die through at a time, I'm using mine today cutting 8 dies in one pass, embossing all in the second pass.

All of your Spellbinders dies will work in the Grand Calibur.

Spellbinders has larger dies now, the largest of which won't fit through the Wizard.

Enjoy!!

Is this true or not? The Calibur is for use ONLY with Spellbinders stuff, not Cuttlebug, Sizzix, etc. I thought I had read that.

I purchased a Grand Calibur in a haze at Hobby Lobby, probably the first one they had in stock. I was in an altered state - there it was, right there in the store, and I could use my 40% off coupon! Then I got home and came out of the haze and started considering what it could and couldn't do.

You CANNOT cut any thick steel-rule dies like the Bigz dies by Sizzix. The rollers are not far enough apart to accommodate these dies no matter what kind of sandwich you come up with.

They CAN accomodate thin steel-rule dies like Cuttlebug and Sizzlets, but they need a special adaptor mat that unfortunately is not included with the Grand Calibur. The mat that you need is part # W-025.
Here is the link: Raspberry Spacer Plate - Spellbinders Paper Arts - Spellbinders
The mat is small. When I spoke with Spellbinders customer service (which was fabulous by the way) they said they are considering making a larger version of this mat to take advantage of the larger Grand Calibur platform.

It is too bad that they have replaced the Wizard, which was highly compatible with all brands of dies, with the Grand Calibur, which is not.

I only have space for one machine, so I returned it. I want a machine that can cut Grand Nesties AND Bigz dies and is electric! I had been saving up for a Vagabond. Now I guess I am hoping for a Grand Vagabond, lol!!!

Yes they have. They said they will continue to offer parts and accessories for the Wizard but they are not making more machines. It is sold-out on their website, and they announced its retirement on this blog post in the note at the top:
Spellbinders Blog Blog Archive Spellbinders To DIE For!! Winter Release Blog Frenzy Day One!

Of course there are a lot of Wizards out there in stores, so it will continue to be available for some time through various vendors.

Might be a good time to grab one if you don't have it, as it will work with almost all dies. Nothing else embosses like it, except the Grand Calibur which has even MORE pressure but far less compatibility!

Hope that helps!
