How about ribbon frames? If you don't already know about them here is a link to a blog entry on how to do them (not mine - I don't have a blog) and here is a link to the gallery showing a bunch of them.
This isn't really quite what I would call "unique", but I use small pieces of leftover ribbons to make little tabs that extend from the edges of images. Like this:
I like folding over a small piece and using as a tab peeking out from under a layer -- usually 2 or 3 "tabs."
The other day, I took some twill ribbon, trimmed the very edge off on the LONG side and frayed the length of the ribbon. Just add some Fray Check and you're good to go
I also like to use it different ways in conjunction with buttons... One piece of ribbon can thread up through a hole from the bottom, then down the next hole, and extend a bit past on either side of the button. Also tying bows or just using straight pieces of ribbon and attaching a button with some twine - tie in a bow on top.

After reading this thread I decided to make a card using ribbon in different way than I normally would. I didn't have a chance to upload my card into my gallery just yet, but I posted it on my blog. Here's the card that I made:
I've used the light green grosgrain from SAB as grass... Just trimmed off the top 'seam' and frayed it a bit. Looked really cute. Sorry I don't have a pic!
