**Viva la Verve! August Week 1 {7/31/09}**: Verve Stamps

Can you believe it's already AUGUST??? Holy schmoly. Craziness! Ya know what August brings? The ANNI-VERVE-SARY!!!!!!! That's right! Verve is having a birthday this month! You will be absolutely crazy for this months release, I have never been more excited for a release than this one, Julee has knocked this one out of the ballpark

For VLV Newbies, here are the deets! Every Friday I'll post a new sketch with a {twist}. The {Twist} is an extra requirement for your sketch card! Could be an inspiration challenge, a color challenge, a limited supplies challenge, who knows! There is no solid deadline for each sketch, but they DO need to be uploaded to the VLV Gallery by the last week of the month! For August, there will be four sketches and all four sketches must be uploaded by MIDNIGHT CST on 27 August! I'll announce the winner on 28 August! Ready to play?

Well, it's pretty {twisted}, lol! There is not going to be an actual "sketch" this week, insteady, your challenge is to CASE A VERVE DIVA!!!!!!!!!! This is one that was requested a few times and I thought it would be fun AND fitting since it's Verve's BDAY month!
So, for this week, lets see your CASES of ANY of the Verve Divas, Past or present! You can CASE anything in their gallery OR on their blog. If you're case'ing a sketch card, please make sure you mention that, cool?
There is, however, a TWIST!
***ETA: When CASE'ing a card, you can keep everything exactly the same or change a few elements, (like use a different stamp set, different colors, embellies, etc...)

The {TWIST}: If the card you're caseing uses patterned paper, you may NOT use patterned paper!
If the card you're case'ing Does NOT use patterned paper, you MUST use patterned paper! You with me? I hope I didn't lose you, but I really wanted to add another twist in there, because, well, I'm twisted, lol!

Yes, that is totally twisted LOL! I have a couple of questions... and I feel like a goof for asking (please forgive me, I'm sort of new to the blog world)... does CASE a card mean to copy it exactly? or just the layout of the card? AND... what is a verve diva (okay ladies, please don't get mad). I'm sorry, I thought I was getting into the card making blog lingo, but I guess there were a few important words I hadn't gotten down yet

The Verve divas are found here http://vervestamps.com/designteam.htm. I think CASE means make something very similar but you can change colours, stamps etc as long as it looks something like the original - well that is what I think it means!

I decided I had to avoid Amber's blog and Julee's. I eventually chose one from Jackie's (http://thescallopededge.typepad.com/...y-balloon.html). I hope I have managed to swap all the DP for plain and vice versa - this twist certainly made it harder! I should have asked before I made my card (I may need to do another). Were we supposed to switch ALL the layers? I used dry embossing instead of DP on those layers, but if the cs was plain, I did not switch that.

The original is a sketch challenge card. I kept the layout almost the same, with slightly different colors and images.

I had so much fun with the first one, and there were just so many great ones to choose from that I tried again.
I copied one of Amber's, but after the card was finished a few elements were missing. I decided I like it this way anyways so it's not really a CASE. Thanks, Amber, for sharing!

I CASE'd Susie's card (see link on my gallery photo). I thought it was going to be easy and then I went all out trying to capture that pOP!

I'm done and even before the next one comes out. I'm glad.

It was a blast Amber! It was so hard picking out one to CASE. Hope I did Diva Susie justice.

This challenge took me a while to complete, only because I had SOoooo much to select from!! After looking through all the Verve diva galleries and blogs, I decided on this beautiful card from your blog Amber

I eliminated the butterfly and rounded corner, changed the colors and stamps and I did NOT use any dsp

For once I followed the twist the first time, instead of having to re-do my card the right way! LOL
