Default The Enveloper?

Does anyone have and use this gadget? I've been eyeing it up for a while now, thinking I'd be able to use it to accommodate those rather bulky cards. It is worth the $20 investment, or will it sit gathering dust?

I bought mine on HSN some time ago and I love the way it makes envelopes to match the card. I enjoy seeing the final touch once the envelope is completed. I use scrap paper, wall paper and tissue paper Anything that is big enough you can make really perfect envelopes and end up with great results. I made a bunch of envelopes this winter just to have for my cards and I have used them so much this summer. It's one of my go to items I use all the time. A big wow factor for very little time and effort. Hope you like it as much as I do... Carol

I bought it and love it as well. Watch the advertising on UTube. I could understand the simple directions and I'm direction-challenged so that a big plus.

I bought it from Joann.com a few months ago using a 50% off online coupon code with discounted shipping. It came out to $10 plus shipping. I used it a few times already and I love it! It accommodates my bulky and larger square cards perfectly and I can coordinate it with my card using matching papers/cardstock.
I refer to this blog for inspiration..she makes beautiful enveloper envelopes to match her cards:

I absolutely adore mine. It is in my "most reach" toolbox. Yes, I think it is a must have for me because I love to make envies. The Enveloper makes the pointed triangle envelopes. The Scor-Pal is great for rectangle type envies.

The boxes are super easy to make. If you make bulky cards this is a great tool to make a beautiful box quickly and accurately.

It is incredibly easy to use, and FAST - literally seconds to score and fold!

Just an FYI - you'll need to make a slight adjustment to the instructions for the regular A2 envelope - just use an 8" square piece of paper istead (they say to use 8 1/4"). HOWEVER, if you want to make an A2 envelo-box (the one for thicker objects), use the 8 1/4" square. Clear as mud?

Oh, wait, that last part should just be an 8" square period, regardless of whether it's a regular A2 or the envelo-box. Sorry!

One more measurement - if you want an envelope for a 4 1/4" square card, use a 7 1/4" square sheet of paper and score on lines D & D. You'll end up with an envelope approximately 4 5/8" square. If that's too loose for you, try a 7 1/8" square of paper (test them out with printer paper first to see which one is a better fit). HTH!

Mine is collecting dust.

I much prefer my Scor Pal over the Enveloper.

You girls are angels, why? Because i'm really ashamed to say i bought this 2 yrs ago and used it once! I couldn't get the hang of it, the envelope looked awful! Not to mention trying to stick the flippin thing together. So measurements and tutorials are probably what i needed lol, a million thanks i'll be trying again. Great thread.
Ooooh i love Magge's blog too she's on my favourites she doesn't post too often but when she does it's truly drool worthy!

One more vote for the enveloper over the scorpal for envelopes.

I have both- stupidly bought into the hype here about the scorpal- and the scorpal sits unused in a corner. I can cut out, score and assemble the envelope faster with the enveloper than it takes to read the directions for using the scorpal for envelopes- and there are no calculations! I TOTALLY recommend he enveloper!

I like to take scrapbook paper, use a little of it as a layer on a card and then make the envelope, white side out, with the rest- makes it look so custom. Here's an example:

I prefer the Scor-Pal, too. It does more than just make envelopes, so it's one tool for everything; cards, boxes, envelopes, etc.

I have templates that I have made ( I keep them in a plastic file folder) for all the envelope sizes I use and just pull one out and follow the easy steps.

I found it easier to use my bone folder to score the paper instead of using the tool that comes with the eveloper (just my preference). I also had to tweak a few measurements to better customize my square card size. You may want to test for fit with scrap paper first. Have fun!

One more vote for the scor-pal vs the enveloper. I bought it, tried it twice and it went into a bag. I bought the scor-pal and it never leaves my desk, I can do so much with it.
I found the measuring and adjusting with the enveloper a bit of a pain and the folder tool was not nice to hold or to use to make folds at all.

I am an Enveloper fan. It's worth watching the tutorial on the Crafters Companion site. I have both the Enveloper and the Top Score and I've recently upgraded to the Crafter's Companion Ultimate Pro. Can't help myself - I love tools. I've recently started making my cards in 5x7" instead of the smaller ones I was doing and making my own envelopes using mostly the left over inserts from the 12x12 albums is a very economical way to do it.

I too like Gleda bought the Ultimate Crafters' Companion on HSN in late June. They had a special and the inventor(?) really "sold" the tool. I can't resist tools either and this one came with a video. I found she went too fast on the video, so I've had to watch it several times, but I finally was able to make many items. I love the envelope maker part of it, but I especially like the box making ability. I've had a ball with it. You do need to use strong paper and I find that my Martha Stewart bone folder works better than the one accompanying the Crafters' Ultimate Companion. Also, you should use cs and not ds, unless it has some body to it.That said, if you can squeese out $50 or so and you like boxes, envelopes, speciality cards, then it's worth the purchase.

Congratulations on your Enveloper. I hope you love it to pieces. I forgot to include this link when I posted. It is a must have when using the Enveloper. It is the custom sizing envelope chart for the American's. The Enveloper was a British product so the sizing can be confusing.

Here's the link: http://www.crafterscompanion.com/ind...WPROD&ProdID=2

Scroll down to Custom Sizing Envelope Chart. It goes from teeny tiny envelopes to huge. I think Crafters Companion is so sweet to do this. I have mine printed out, in a page protector. I store it with my Enveloper.

Have fun with your new toy.

i've got both too, but make my envelopes on the enveloper.
The box maker on the back is fantastic too.

Take any two pieces of card the same size, 8 scorelines later a box that always fits together.

it also works with any straight sided shapes, Triangles, squares, pentangons ect.

I make my own sized envelopes on it, just remember to make a little triangle where the lines cross or there is no overlap when you stick the envelope together.

Busia- it was DeeAnn not me who first listed the website. I'm also very grateful for her pointing it out- there's always something new to learn, isn't there?

I hope you like your enveloper as much as I like mine- because I LOVE mine!

I have the Enveloper, but don't use it as often as I should. It's too easy to grab an envelope from the many boxes on my shelf.

I have the Enveloper, love it for making fast and easy envelopes, and the scor-pal, use it for everything else. Wouldn't want to be without both of them.

One thing I did with my Enveloper...I stuck the soft piece of velcro to the back of the tool and the rough piece of velcro in the groove on the back of the Enveloper. Now I never have to go hunting for the tool.

Do you have the DVD for the Crafters Companion? It has some good ideas. I just made this card for my grandson Birthday pop-out by GlendaC at Splitcoaststampers It's very easy. I use it for envelopes quite a bit - it's cheaper to use paper I already have than to buy the slightly larger envelopes. I also like the embossing patterns. I've only had it for a couple of months and I'm sure I will be trying new things with it for quite a while.
