One of the cool things about digi is there are all sorts of things you can use and download right from the internet--Word Art, brushes, papers, elements, overlays, quickpages, alphas (you get the picture) - instant gratification and often its even FREE!!!
My challenge to you is to download one of the freebies (any kind you want) from DigiScrapDepo (see link below) and use all or part of it to make a page. At a minimum, the page should consist of an alpha (pre-made or fonts), at least 3 elements and at least 2 digi papers, so if the freebie doesnt include all of those, you can add those items from any kit you want. (For example, if your freebie is a template or an overlay, etc., then youll need to add the alpha, papers and elements from any other kits--either ones you own or download.)
Of course, you can download as many of the freebies as you want, but you only need to use one for the challenge.
I want to thank Grandmaof1 for mentioning this site in last week's challenge thread. I had forgotten what a great resource for freebies it is.
DigiScrapDepot link to freebies: http://www.digiscrapdepot.com/ (Be sure to browse aroundthere are thousands of freebies at this site!)
If you have questions, you can post them here or PM me.
Please post all submissions for this challenge here: DGC038. Also, please take a minute to post a link on this thread so we wont miss seeing your work!
Have a great week! I look forward to seeing your layouts!
WOW. Is that really true? Over 62,000 freebies? I'll never get any sleep if I start looking and downloading? This digi is worse than "real" life paper scrapping! LOL!
Oh my goodness--it can get out of hand in a hurry! I would definitely suggest an organizing system so you don't wind up with tons of folders and not knowing what you have in them. There are loads of articles on the internet about organizing digi files. I think there are probably some suggestions on the digi forums here on SCS too. Here is one thread from Digital Freebies that you might find informative:
But whatever you do, give some thought to tagging your images so you can search for them in the future. It's easier if you start a system from the very beginning, take my word for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. As I've been downloading, I've been making file folders for each type of item (Paper, elements, masks, etc.) If something comes in a kit, I've left it have it's own space without breaking it up. I think I'll make a small internet book with websites listed with freebies and if I need something specific, just go to the website at that time to download instead of what I have been doing.
If something comes in a kit, I've let it have it's own space without breaking it up.
The only problem I've found with this is, as you accumulate the kits, you'll forget exactly what's in them. I often use certain items on pages where I don't use any other part of the kit it originated from. That's why the tagging is good--you can tag the items actually within the kit and then when you search in your organizer for, let's say, bird, every bird you have tagged from any kit will show up. That way, you can keep them together in their kit but still find a specific item without physically going into the kit. Just something to think about in these early stages of your blossoming digi addiction! haha!

Hope you get to do the challenge!
Downloading as you "speak"! Took me awhile to find a kit for the pics I have in mind. I'll have to read the section in PSE7 on tagging and start putting those files into PSE7. Thanks!
I have to work on using embellishments. I like how you place things all around on your pages and make them seem to be floating there. Haven't figured out some of that kind of stuff yet. Will just have to keep playing around.
And, no...don't think I'm ready to do any hostessing yet! LOL!
Another great challenge Wendy! I knew you gals would love digiscrap depot. I used a similar technique this week as last week. I don't know if you can do this in PSE but in PSP if I see an overlay I like but it is on a transparent background I make a mask out of it. That way if I want to I can do like I did with this one and layer it over a gradient and it takes on a whole new look. This overlay from Adeyo's site was very color intensive and I did not know how it would turn out but I am satisfied with it. At first I put it over a layer I filled with black (a gradient over black is pretty I think) but then I saw you wanted two papers in the layout, lol. So I used 2 from the orange marmalade kit, put the overlay over them and then played around with the layer properties till I liked the effect. One of the papers is white so you can see what changing the layer properties does. I have to say I am really having a lot of fun with your digi challenges Wendy, thanks so much.
Ok, I downloaded from BLdesign and her package fit perfectly with my intention to digiscrap my beach pics. I hope I did the challenge right Wendy. You ladies are so helpful with pointing me in the direction of where to go play. (And thanks ever so for all your kind words )

This turned out SO cute, Candy. Love the elements and frame!
Don't know how long I can last hosting the challenge, but I'll hang in there if I can. Maybe by then, someone else will be ready to take a turn! I wish we had more participants!
Here's a page I did. I found paper just perfect for my photo of bikes at the beach.

Your page turned out really fun. I know what you mean about the digi freebie search addiction thing. (Hey, but if we're gonna spend time web browsing for goodies--at least they're free!!)
