A couple of years ago I purchased a glass candy jar at Walmart. I stamped my kid's handprint with versamark, then covered with embossing powder and heat embossed. Maybe a keychain?

Don't worry about tomorrow, each day has enough trouble of it's own. (Matthew 6:34)
I had my kids put their handprints on a t-shirt and wrote "Best Daddy" above the prints and "Hands Down" in red below the prints. I let them all pick out the colors they wanted which ended up being bright orange, neon green and lavender. My hubby wears it proudly and as a bonus we can see him in the dark when we are out at night.
Another idea I had- was a "Daddy's Little Helper" poem with his handprint above it. I've seen something like it somewhere but have no idea where it was or what the poem said but I remember thinking it was a really cute idea. Good luck with your project.
Every fathers day I help my kids make a shirt for my husband. They put their hands and feet on them. I started 12 years ago, and it is just so precious to see how tiny they were. (I have put the older ones away now so I can save them)
A Christmas Ornament with his handprint on it. Would be great to do one every year and then you could give them to your child when he is an adult with his own family....
Wow such cool ideas! I wish I thought of some of these things to do with my kids! Now their foot prints are kinda big!
Almost makes me wanna have another babe just to make some of these things! LOL!

This is a neat idea.... I did a few on paper so I should put them in a scrapbook for them. I wish I had kept up with mine for comparison sake!
Another idea for these prints made on fabric or t-shirts.... Could you make a memory quilt of all the T-shirts? or a book? You could see them every day on your bed! Or you could save these for when you're a grandma! Then thenext generation's baby could have their prints put on the other side of the Tshirt!
Oh, my brother printed his babe's feet on the wall and a door of his home.... I know they'll have to take the door and the piece of dry wall with them when they move! A better version of this would be to print on a good quality of paper and then frame it along with a photo of the child at that same age. It would be easier to move!
A person could stamp the handprint on a piece of shrink plastic. using craft ink and maybe some embossing powder and heat seat it. Oh, punch a hole in it first!
this would make an original charm or pendant maybe.
One year for Christmas we made a Christmas Tree Skirt for my Mother with all
of her grandchildren's handprints. Now the kids are grown but it's still a great
Christmas memory.
Thanks for the ideas everyone!!!
I'm liking the little boy poem for now - as he's still a little boy.
And can use the shirts/ornaments for later.
Thank you all!!!!
I bought a little canvas tote bag from M's and stamped her little hands using the fabric paint. Wash it first! Its so cute! You all have given me some ideas too! Thanks so much.
One of my granddaughters gave Grandpa a silver tie that had her hand prints on. It is really cute and Grandpa wears it proudly to church--in between the other ties his other grandchildren have given him. We have to be fair you know.
I traced my dh's handprint before he went away. His job took him far from home and it helped to have his handprint. I would put my hand over it when I prayed for him and the kids loved to see Daddy's hand. I put it in a book. One lady I knew had a book of each person's handprint and when she had her personal prayer time she would take the book out and do what I did...place her hand on their handprint and pray for them! Just another thought!
hugs,
Bridgett
My grandmother used to put our handprints on paper and then give us markers to make it into an animal or tree or something. they are neat to look at now!
If you don't care how keepsakey it is, you can make a spider by tracing both hands (cut off the thumbs) and use the palms as the body of the spider and the fingers as the legs.
Another thing you could do would be to trace the hands on construction paper, cut them out and attach them to each other with a piece of string or yarn that is the same length as his arm length (across the body from one arm stretched out all the way to the other stretched out arm) and tell your hubby it is a hug or "I love you this much." If you do this every year, you can see how much bigger he is getting by looking at the length of the string. Did this even make sense?

I think what you have done is a great idea. I have my first grandchild coming in September and I think this is one thing I definietely want to do for my son and his wife.
Now for your inspiration: What about a shrinkie keyring - that way a bigger hand or foot wont be such a problem. Another idea for bigger feet & hands is on a BBQ apron or paint shirt.
Another idea is to make a canvas floor mat for a picnic and use the feet and hands to rim the edges...Oh I am sure this will set of some more ideas.
Do you have some photos we could have a look at of your previous efforts?
Have fun.

I quilt as well as stamp. These t-shirts would make a fabulous memory quilt. Wish I had thought of that when my son was growing up! If you don't quilt yourself I am sure someone you know does. What a keepsake. jan

I see someone has already mentioned a necktie-I noticed lots of solid colored ones at JCP last night. You could also do a pillowcase or toss pillow. To personalize an umbrella might be fun as well. We made plaster of paris plaques in the sand at the beach once when mine were tots. We embedded shells around it and a layer of sand sticks to it too so it looks just like a footprint in the sand. I still have and treasure them. I got the directions from Family Fun about 15 yrs ago. You could also do a pair of boxers. (tee hee) Would he use a hand print mouse pad? This is fun but I better stop!
There are tons of cute things you can make with handprints and foot prints - angels, bats frames etc - google handprint crafts or poems. http://www.activityvillage.co.uk/handprint_craft.htm is one site with a ton of ideas
We make the yearly t-shirts the first year we made handprints and the kids made matching t shirts to go with dads, also the place mat, the little hand poem, ceramic tiles, clay handprints.

Bridgett,
This hand print idea is a fabulous! What a marvelous way to keep in touch with loved ones who are away. Thank you. I will share that idea with my crafty friends.
My husband and I both shrunk our girls infant footprints and had them tattooed on us. His is just the footprints, mine is the footprints, their names, and two angels watching from the clouds around the footprints. We get a lot of compliments on them.
