Default **Viva la Verve, July Week 1 {6/26/09}**

Hey girlies! Ready for another month? I'm sorry to make July happen so soon, lol! I would have made this another June week but by July is mid week so I guess it would have worked either way

For VLV Newbies, here are the deets! Every Friday I'll post a new sketch with a {twist}. The {Twist} is an extra requirement for your sketch card! Could be an inspiration challenge, a color challenge, a limited supplies challenge, who knows! There is no solid deadline for each sketch, but they DO need to be uploaded to the VLV Gallery by the last week of the month! For July, there will be five sketches and all five sketches must be uploaded by MIDNIGHT CST on 30 July! I'll announce the winner on 31 July! Ready to play?

This weeks {twist} is DISTRESSING! There are some really fun ways to rough your cards up and I've noticed it's kinda coming back in the crafting world! Maybe it never left, what do I know, lol! Anyway, I've been having fun getting my hands all inky lately so I thought maybe you would too You can you ink to distress your cards or just distress the edges, go vintage, whatever you interpret as distressing! I can't wait to see the gallery this month, I just know it's going to be FAB!

Keywords when uploading your cards this week are Verve (if you use Verve stamps) and VLVJul01 *remember to get the keywords exactly like this or your cards won't show up in the gallery!

My Sample
VLVJul01 Gallery

Have fun and Viva la Verve!!!!!!!!!!!

Should be fun! I haven't tried to much distressing before... I'm gonna have to dig through my stamp pads and see what I can fudge it with.

Oooh, I've never distressed before so this should be fun! I love trying new things. The tilted frames in the sketch is also something I've always wanted to try!

Another first sketch of the month stressor for me, Amber! I'm so **** that crooked lines like that just about kill me LOL! At least I can deal with the distressing. Will have to think on this one a bit and see what I come up with.

Please don't take my grumbling personally, Amber! My rebellious "one creative gene" was shouting out before I could get it under control LOL Your wonderful sketches are good for me -- they streeeeeetch me and make me think outside my little box.

All right. Here it is. I couldn't get the distressed sponging to work for me, so we went with the 'ol scissors.

Feeling Distressed?

Ok Amber, you insist you'll still love us if we tweak the sketch, but you might just want to disown me after you see my card! LOL I took distressing to the next level and then some!! I hope you have a good laugh, because I sure did when I finished my "creation" LOL

LOVE this sketch, so I had to work on it tonight after work. I only have two Verve sets (Christmas ball ornaments and hot air balloons), but I really hope to get some more Verve stamps soon!

Here is my card -

Enjoy!

Another fabulous sketch, but the twist was a difficult one for me, as I am NOT a distresser....it stresses me. But it pulled me out of my comfort zone and I'm glad I gave it a try.

Here's my card!

I hope I met the criteria - no Verve stamps yet.
I seem to do some distressing unintentionally - but here I did it on purpose, The edges are roughed up, and then I did use the Distressed Stripes (CB) embossing folder for good measure.

Okay, I'm posting two cards for this sketch! The first one I made was the snowflake card but when all was said and done, I realized I forgot the distressing. So....back to the drawing board for card #2. By the end of all this I was actually beginning to appreciate off center panels (tough for me as I like things all lined up - yes, I'm a bit **** that way LOL). Thanks for the streeeeetch, Amber
